this
is
the
weekly
report,
a
look
at
news
from
the
city
of
Kansas
City
Missouri.
The
proposed
2015
through
16
submitted
budget
was
released
this
week.
Budget
documents
are
available
on
our
website
at
the
city's
open
data
catalog.
We
also
have
a
new
budget
visualization
tool
that
allows
residents
to
view
the
budget
in
chart
form.
You
can
create
custom,
charts
or
drill
down
into
details
with
a
few
simple
clicks,
go
to
KCMO,
gov
and
search
for
budget
to
get
started.
A
Residents
will
have
three
opportunities
to
hear
about
the
fiscal
year
2016
budget.
During
the
next
few
weeks,
residents
are
invited
to
participate
in
the
annual
budget
hearings
as
well
as
a
live
Twitter
budget
chat.
The
budget
hearings
will
take
place
on
Saturday
februari
21st
at
Shoal
Creek
police
station
and
on
Saturday
February
28
at
the
southeast
community
center,
which
is
at
4201
East
63rd
Street.
Both
hearings
will
be
held
from
9am
through
11
a.m.
during
those
hearings.
The
City
Council
members
and
staff
will
present
information
and
listen
to
public
input.

time,
Mayor
Sly,
James,
the
city
manager,
Troy
Schulte
city,
department,
directors
and
other
budget
staff
members
will
all
gather
together

at
City
Hall
to
respond
to
the
public's
questions
and
comments

my
name

Lynn
Youngblood
I'm,
with
the
Blue
River
Watershed,
Association
and
I
was
the
lead
hiker
on
this
wonderful
walk.
We
had
today
the
martin
luther
king
jr.
walk
and
it
was
in
honor
of
dr.
King
and
it
was
walk
for
peace
and
we
walked
along
brush
creek
for
about
a
mile
and
a
half
and
along
the
way
participants
were
given
cards
of
quotes
from
dr.,
King
and
I
think
they
all
really
enjoyed
hearing
the
quotes
and
participating
in
that
part
of
the
walk
and
I
think
it
really
brought
his
essence
to
everyone.

We
are
a
partner
with
a
Heartland
conservation
alliance,
and
this
was
a
good
way
for
us
to
contribute
to
their
efforts
and
bring
conservation
to
a
lot
of
different
people,
a
lot
of
urban
people
and
rural
people
alike.
One
gentleman
just
came
up
to
me
and
said
he
traveled
from
Leavenworth
Kansas
to
join
us
today.
So
it's
always
a
good
feeling.

Our
partners
were
Missouri,
Master,
Naturalist,
greenworks
hyvee
provided
refreshments,
and
it
could
not
have
been
done
without
the
Kansas
City
Missouri,
Parks
and
Recreation,
and
the
Vista
volunteers
helped
a
lot
with
dangerous
intersections
and
helping
our
groups
cross
streets
and
things
like
that.
They
try
to
stay
connected
to
the
community
and
the
communities
supports
us
very
well.

district
council

I
am
so
excited
about
the
opportunity
to
meet
with
you
and
share
what
I've
been
working
on
since
been
appointed
to
the
council
january
twenty
second
and
my
plan
for
the
next
six
months.
This
plan
was
based
on
information
that
I
gleaned
from
residents
and
stakeholders,
just
as
yourself,
it'll
be
fast
paced
but
it'll
be
exciting
and
together
we
can
accomplish
it
so
I'm

Our

will

full
of
fresh

and
veggies.

is
currently
reviewing
the
vehicles
for
higher
code
residents
can
submit
their
in
put
at
the
city's
virtual
town
hall
Casey

That
explains
the
proposed
revisions.
Residents
are
encouraged
to
submit
their
comments
and
ideas
regarding
the
proposed
ordinance
and
how
it
would
update
rules
for
taxis
and
other
vehicles
for
hire
in
observance
of
the
upcoming
president's
day
holiday
city
offices
and
the
311
call
center
will
be
closed
on
Monday
februari
16th.
