welcome
to
the
weekly

Today
we
are
at
the

a
Gehry
Community
Center
on
the
west
side
and
although
it's
cold
outside
it's
toasty
in
here
check
out
our
website
at
KC
parks
org
to
find
out
all
the
ways
you
can
warm
up
at
our
community
centers,
just
like
these
seniors
are
doing.
They're
staying
active,
healthy
and
social
with
their
chair,
aerobics
class,
it's
the
holidays
and
Parks
and
Recreation
has
lots
of
fun
events
planned
throughout
the
season.
B
Are
you
ready
to
tell
your
Christmas
wish
to
the
fairy
princess
since
1935
KC's
fairy
princess
has
been
listening
to
children's
holiday
wishes
this
year
due
to
renovations
at
the
Kansas
City
Museum?
You
can
visit
the
fairy
princess
at
the
garment
district
museum,
but
you
must
make
an
appointment
go
to
Kansas
City
Museum
org
to
purchase
a
ticket
Santa's,
making
his
rounds
at
3
Santa's
Wonderland
savez
on
December,
the
6th
at
Gillen,
Park
December,
the
7th
at
penguin
Park
and
December,
the
14th
at
the
Bay
Water
Park.
B
There
will
be
carolers
performances
by
the
KC
stars
of
tomorrow
and
hot
chocolate.
Be
sure
to
check
out
our
website
for
more
information,
but
before
you
put
up
your
holiday
lights,
there's
still
time
to
rake
your
leaves
for
curbside
pickup
pickup
for
residents
in
the
central
region
will
be
December
2nd
through
the
6th.
You
can
leave
up
to
20
bags
or
bundles
at
the
curb
by
7
a.m.
on
your
regular
trash
day.
Use
paper.
Sacks
bundles
should
also
be
no
larger
than
2
feet
in
diameter
and
no
longer
than
4
feet.
B
C
D
Is
a
Bicentennial
coming
up
of
Missouri
200
years?
It's
the
same
time
the
Francoise
Shoto
developed
the
Trading
Post
Bank
here,
and
he
was
really
our
first
commerce
person.
There's
significant
history
right
here
on
this
site,
where
we're
going
to
be
this
little
area
used
to
be
called
Moscow
little
community.
This.
A
B
Thanksgiving
is
Thursday
November
the
28th,
and
that
means
city
offices
will
be
closed
on
Thursday
and
Friday,
and
curbside
trash
and
recycling
will
be
moved
to
the
holiday
schedule
pick
up
shifts
to
one
day
later
than
normal.
We
know
it
can
be
confusing
to
keep
track
of
the
holiday
trash
schedule
and
the
know
tagged
trash
period
that
follows
Christmas,
so
we
have
updated
our
trash
webpage
with
all
of
the
information
go
to
KC
mode
gov,
slash
trash
to
find
a
list
of
the
upcoming
trash
delay,
dates
and
no
tagged
periods.

Hey
seawater
kicked
off
the
official
start
of
the
Swope
Park
industrial
area,
flood
risk
reduction
project,
November
1st,
with
a
ceremonial
groundbreaking,
colonel
bill,
Hannon
jr.,
Kansas,
City,
District,
Director
of
the
US
Army
Corps
of
Engineers
transit,
City,
Councilmembers
Rana
park,
Shaw
and
Lee
Barnes
jr.
and
business
owner
Charlie
livers,
president
of
livers,
bronze
joined,
KC,
water,
director,
Terry,
Leeds
and
breaking
ground
on
the
new
flood
reduction
wall.
Terry
Goddard
with
KC
water
is
the
project
engineer.
First.
I
I
want
to
say
that
there
has
been
a
lot
of
people
before
me
that
has
gotten
a
project
to
this
point,
but
it's
basically
going
to
be
a
ring.
Levee,
that's
going
to
go
around
the
entire
Swope
Park
industrial
area
to
protect
it
from
flooding.
There
will
be
a
combination
of
actual
flood
walls
and
earthen
levees.
The.
H
Area
has
been
prone
to
severe
flooding
for
years,
and
2017
employees
were
evacuated
and
rescued
by
boat.
When
the
Blue
River
overflowed
its
banks,
the
flood
reduction
system
will
help
minimize
flooding
and
protect
businesses.
Colonel
Hannon
says
projects
like
these
take
some
time,
but
they
are
worth
it.
Yeah.
H
K
Flemyng
go
spawn
monkey
and
lorikeets
I'm,
actually
from
here
and
I,
started
off
by
going
to
the
zoo
all
the
time
as
a
kid
that'll
in
love
with
it
and
was
like
that's
what
I
want
to
do,
I
think
the
biggest
misconception
about
being
a
zookeeper
is
that
all
we
do
is
play
with
the
animals
and
snuggle
them,
and
things
like
that.
It's
definitely
not
that
at
all.
It's
anything
we
have
protective
contact
and
it's
we
do
a
lot
of
other
things.
K
L
We're
here
on
the
site
of
North
oak
Trafficway,
we
recently
reconstructed
the
roadway
work
started
last
fall
in
2018
and
is
wrapping
up
final
items
in
the
next
couple
of
weeks.
This
was
a
general
obligation
geo
bond
program.
It
combined
lots
of
different
types
of
improvements.
This
is
just
another
great
example
of
utilizing.

A
Q
That
ever
actually
seen
that
before
I
feel
like
I,
can
see
a
lot
more.
You
see
through
the
trees,
and-
and
you
know,
the
snow
gives
really
good
relief
against
the
trees
and
stuff.
So
you
can
see
the
shapes
of
hills
and
the
trees
you
can
see.
You
know
just
I
feel
like
I,
have
a
better
sense
of
like
what
the
land
is
shaped
like
that
I'm
walking
over,
which
is
kind
of
fun.
Alright,
that
should
be
good.
Thanks
to
those
two
was
a
kid.
I
would
do
this
again.
Definitely
I
mean
I.
