A
B
Everyone
I'm
Chris
Fernandez,
your
City
communications
director,
and
this
is
the
weekly
report.
You'll
see
a
lot
of
people
wearing
masks,
while
they're
out
and
about
it
can
be
a
homemade
cloth
mask
or
just
a
simple
bandana
like
this
one.
You
need
to
keep
it
over
your
your
nose
and
mouth
in
order
to
help
protect
others
from
the
spread
of
coronavirus.
You
are
protecting
other
people
from
yourself
in
case.
B
You
have
symptoms
and
don't
know
it
yet
now
the
CDC
and
our
own
health
department
have
approved
some
guidelines
for
this,
but
you
need
to
look
at
those
because
realize
this
is
not
a
fail-safe
and
you
still
need
to
practice
your
social
distancing
guidelines.
That
means
staying
six
feet
apart
from
others
when
you
are
out
in
public,
and
it
also
means
keep
washing
those
hands.
B
B
Trees
like
this
one
you're
going
to
go
out
and
plant
one
for
Earth
Day.
Because
did
you
know
it's
the
50th
anniversary
of
Earth
Day?
That's
coming
up
on
April
23rd
and
there
are
lots
of
ways
that
you
can
take
part
Earth.
Day
is
also
when
we
have
the
state's
annual
green
sales
tax
holiday.
If
you
need
to
replace
an
appliance
that
may
not
be
functioning
as
well
as
it
should
replace
it
with
an
energy
star
appliance
that
uses
less
energy
or
water
and
you'll
save
some
green
now
and
in
the
future.
B
We
know
that,
with
the
stay
at
home
order,
you've
been
generating
some
more
trash,
maybe
you've
been
cleaning
out
the
closets
or
the
garage
or
the
basement.
So
this
week
is
a
special,
no
tagged
trash
period,
trash
amnesty
as
it's
otherwise
known,
so
you
can
put
up
to
12
bags
at
the
curb
now
keep
in
mind
for
some
people.
It's
also
leaf
and
brush
collection
week.
So
make
sure
you
keep
those
piles
separate
because
those
will
be
collected
separately
by
different
trucks
for
the
leaf
and
brush
curbside.
Pickup.
B
Remember
that
this
week
is
for
residents
of
central
KC.
If
you
live
in
Kansas
City
north
you'll
have
your
curbside
leaf
and
brush
collection
from
April
20th
through
the
24th,
and
this
takes
place
on
your
regular
trash
day.
If
you
want
to
take
your
own
things
to
the
drop-off
site,
you
can
do
that.
Remember.
They're
closed
on
Saturdays,
through
April
24th,
to
help
comply
with
the
emergency
state
home
order,
but
Kansas
City
residents
can
still
drop
off
their
leaves
and
brush
Monday
through
Friday
from
8
a.m.
to
5
p.m.
with
proof
of
residency.
B
Non-Residents
can
drop
off
for
a
small
fee
and
those
three
leaf
and
brush
drop-off
centers
are
located
at
1/16
60,
North,
Main,
Street,
1815,
North,
Chouteau,
Trafficway
and
103
o1
Raytown
row.
As
you
know,
city
facilities
are
closed
to
the
public,
but
we
are
still
working
with
a
virtual
City
Hall.
All
the
3-1-1
operators
are
still
on
duty,
so
continue
calling
three
one:
one
or
access
our
services
online
go
to
our
city
website
at
KC,
MO,
gov
and
slash
pay.
B
If
you
need
to
pay
anything
like
your
water
bill
or
municipal
court
fines
and
the
City
Council
continues
to
meet,
but
those
meetings
are
now
being
held
online
and
that's
how
you
can
watch
them.
You
can
watch
them
on
channel
2
or
on
the
city
website.
Just
go
to
KC
MO
gov,
slash
channel
2.
If
you
would
like
to
testify
about
an
ordinance
that
has
been
heard,
you
can
send
an
email
to
public
testimony
at
KC,
MO
org
be
sure
to
include
the
ordinance
number
in
the
subject
line.
B
These
comments
will
be
read
aloud
during
the
public
comment
period
as
time
permits
we'll
be
added
to
the
public
record,
you'll
be
seeing
a
lot
of
blue
around
town.
The
buildings
are
lit
up
in
blue
to
honor
our
first
responders
and
our
health
care
professionals
and
there's
this
new
campaign
to
stay
strong
stay,
safe,
stay
home,
Casey,
that's
right!
We're
all
in
this
together
and
you
can
do
it
help
stop
the
spread
of
coronaviruses
up
to
all
of
us
to
do
our
part.
I'm
Chris
Hernandez,
with
your
weekly
reports,
stay
tuned
for
these
videos.
C
C
We've
made
it
easy
for
you
to
participate
in
this
process
in
the
comfort
of
your
own
home,
I'd
like
to
invite
you
to
go
to
fly
KCI,
calm,
to
view
a
presentation
about
the
new
single
terminal
and
parking
garage
and
take
a
survey
about
public
art.
These
art
installations
will
be
the
biggest
1
percent
for
art
projects
ever
in
Kansas
City's
history.
C
D
A
D
At
the
Kansas
City
Missouri
Police
Department
I
work
in
the
firearms,
training
and
tactics
section
of
the
training
division
and
asked
to
speak
to
you
today
regarding
some
of
the
stress.
Each
of
us
is
feeling,
due
to
the
recent
outbreak
of
the
corona
virus,
I'm,
going
to
explain
the
simple
technique
called
tactical
breathing
later
on
in
this
video.
This
technique
can
be
useful
for
anyone
facing
a
stressful
situation.
Each
of
us
has
routines
in
our
daily
life
a
majority
of
the
time.
D
These
routines
allow
us
to
handle
the
responsibilities
of
our
day-to-day
life
when
a
situation
comes
along
and
requires
us
to
change
our
routine,
maybe
something
as
simple
as
a
minor
road
detour
on
the
way
home
or
it
could
be
something
major
like
what
we're
all
dealing
with
now
when
faced
with
an
issue
like
the
corona
virus,
our
brain
is
going
to
overdrive
in
an
attempt
to
process
all
the
information
that
we're
being
bombarded
with.
We
have
a
strong
desire
to
return
ourselves
and
those
we
care
about
to
a
state
of
normalcy.
D
The
inability
to
do
that
can
cause
a
tremendous
amount
of
stress
in
our
lives.
Fortunately,
there's
a
way
to
defeat
that
stress
and
allow
our
brains
to
return
to
a
problem-solving
mode.
We
teach
and
coach
our
officers
to
use
a
technique
called
tactical
breathing
by
taking
control
of
your
breathing.
You
can
reduce
your
level
of
stress.
This
breathing
strategy
has
been
used
by
police
officers.
The
military
and
first
responders
to
regain
the
sense
of
control
and
manage
stress
tactical
breathing
is
accomplished
by
focusing
on
your
breathing
in
a
particular
way.
D
You
start
by
breathing
in
and
slowly
counting
to
four
try
to
visualize
each
of
the
numbers,
as
you
count
as
soon
as
you
get
to
four,
you
pause
holding
your
breath
and
again
slowly
count
to
four.
You
then
exhale
again,
counting
to
four
and
at
the
bottom
of
your
breath,
hold
it
for
another
count
of
four.
You
reteam
repeat
this
cycle
of
control
breathing
for
a
minimum
of
at
least
five
cycles,
but
we
would
urge
you
to
continue
to
breathe
until
you
feel
a
sense
of
calm
and
control
come
back
into
your
life.
D
E
E
I
needed
an
ambulance,
and
so
I
broke
the
transmission
and
then
I
did
the
the
breathing
exercise
again
got
back
on
the
air.
Give
him
some
notes
about
what
had
happened.
I
wasn't
hysterical,
I
wasn't,
I
knew
something
had
happened,
but
I
could
focus
and
I
could
I
could
think
through
the
problem
and
part
of
it.
You
know
part
of
it
was
adrenaline
I'm
sure,
but
the
other
part
of
it
was
being
able
to
use
the
combat
breathing
and
the
breathing
exercises
that
were
taught
to
us
to
refocus
and
channel
with.
D
Your
help,
the
Kansas
City
Missouri,
Police
Department
and,
as
many
partners
are
doing
everything
we
can
to
help
our
citizens
get
through
this
trying
time.
We
encourage
everyone
to
follow
the
advice
of
our
health
care
professionals,
make
good
decisions
and
focus
on
taking
good
care
of
ourselves
and
each
other.
F
G
F
G
Yeah
well,
first
I
was
gonna
start
off
by
saying
we're
doing
a
little
bit
of
enrichment
today,
so
they
came
right
up
to
it.
Some
honeysuckle.
We
have
lots
of
brow
on
grounds
that
we
feed
different
animals
and
one
of
their
favorites
is
to
eat
the
berries
off
of
this
honeysuckle.
So
the
one
who's
really
chowing
down
here
is
Edie
he's
a
25
year
old,
male
and
then
Nemo
seems
a
little
bit
more
interested
in
you
right
now.
A
F
Getting
another
lay
of
the
land
right.
Well,
we
are,
if
you
don't
know,
we
are
in
our
Australia
area
of
the
zoo.
Now
a
lot
of
people
can
look
at
this
animal
and
think
that's
an
ostrich
they're
quite
different.
They
do
come
from
the
same
group
of
animals
called
ratites,
so
that's
a
little
scientific
term
for
our
friends
out
there.
If
you
want
to
kind
of
describe
to
us
what
exactly
is
a
rat
tight
or
to
be
a
member
of
the
rat
tight
group?
Well,
it's
like
it's
certain
specific,
it's
specific
birds.
G
F
G
F
G
Is
very
large
size
and
it's
hard
to
see,
but
if
you,
if
you
feel
them,
they
have
these
itty-bitty
little
tiny
wings,
so
they
do
still
have
kind
of
a
remnant
of
a
wing.
But
it
would
definitely
not
be
enough
to
lift
a
bird
like
this
nope
off
the
ground,
yeah.
So
they're,
really
fast
runners,
they're
one
of
my
favorite
things
as
might
move
these
guys
from
our
barn
down
here
out
onto
exhibit.
F
Run
out
longer,
their
exhibit,
so
they
are,
since
they
are
birds,
they're
obviously
covered
in
feathers,
but
their
feathers
seem
to
be
different
than
like
the
zipped
feathers
of
a
flighted
bird.
So
a
lot
of
people
think
that
bird's
feather
are
specifically
for
flight.
What
would
you
say
to
that?
Yeah.
G
So
they're,
the
feathers
on
these
guys
are
designed
a
little
bit
more
like
hair.
They
almost
have
a
hit
more
hair
like
appearance
and
they're
unique
because,
unlike
some
of
the
other
birds
where
they
just
have
one
shaft
coming
out
of
a
follicle,
these
guys
actually
have
a
double
shafted
feather,
so
that
kind
of
lets
them
fall
differently
and
gives
them
that
more
hair,
like
it.
E
G
G
F
Cool
now,
I
do
know.
One
other
thing
about
these
guys
is
that
the
their
internals,
also
with
all
that
and
muscle,
and
all
that
weight
that
keeps
them
on
the
ground,
but
also
their
bones,
are
a
little
different
than
a
bird
that
flies
in
the
sky.
So
what's
the
difference
in
those
two
types
of
birds,
so
a.
G
F
G
G
Happens
they
have
not
like
I,
said
she's
just
been
here
for
a
few
years
and
he's
a
little
bit
older
and
they're
still
kind
of
trying
to
work
out
their
situations,
and
let
me
kind
of
have
that
other
male.
So
we've
done
a
little
bit
of
back
and
forth
trying
to
see
who
wants
to
bond
with
you
and
who
does
well
with
who.
G
F
G
F
G
G
F
If
you
guys
are
roaming
around
the
zoo,
there's
plenty
of
honeysuckle
everywhere,
please
don't
think
you
can
give
Ari.
You
lose
honeysuckle,
but
know
that
they
are
a
delicious
treat
that
you
can
see
these
guys
chow
down
on
and
it's
something
that
naturally
grows
here,
which
is
really
really
great
and
an
opportunity
for
these
guys
to
get
snacks
that
they
love
thanks.
So
much
Courtney
for
stopping
by
and
letting
us
see,
some
really
cool
animals
guys
make
sure
you
stop
by
and
see
our
emus
it's
right
in
between
the
Austral
aviary
and
the
dingos.
