B
What
do
you
get
when
you
have
a
thriving
art
sector,
a
mayor
who
recognizes
its
impact
on
the
city's
quality
of
life
and
economy,
a
task
force
of
city
leaders
and
extensive
citizen
input?
You
get
a
ten
year
plan
with
ten
goals
and
an
office
to
implement
those
goals.
That
office
is
the
office
of
culture
and
creative
services
that
was
started
in
2015.
C
The
Kansas
City
Missouri
Police
Department
is
joining
other
law
enforcement
agencies
all
over
the
country
for
drug
take-back
day
on
April,
27th
KCPD
and
the
Missouri
Western
interdiction
task
force
will
collect
unused
prescription
and
over-the-counter
medications.
No
questions
asked
the
effort
is
part
of
a
nationwide
program
under
the
US
Drug
Enforcement
Administration
KCPD
spokesman,
Jake
bikina.
So
this.
D
Drug
take-back
events-
these
are
very
important
for
a
few
reasons.
We
want
to
provide
people
a
safe
channel
to
get
rid
of
unwanted
prescription
medications
that
they
may
have
around
the
home
for
a
variety
of
reasons.
If
they've
expired,
if
a
loved
one
has
passed
away,
someone's
moved
away,
they
need
to
safely
get
rid
of
these
prescription
medications
so
that
they
are
not
accessible
to
someone
who
was
not
prescribed
these
medicines
and
may
take
them
or
abuse
them
inappropriately.
D
What
we
know
is
is
that
many
times
people
have
access
to
prescription
medications
that
are
not
theirs.
We
want
to
cut
down
on
that
availability
for
a
public
safety
and
a
public
health
standpoint,
because
these
abuses
of
prescription
medications
can
cause
many
problems
down
the
road
to
become
a
bigger
health
issue,
a
bigger
legal
issue
and
a
bigger
overall
public
safety
and
public
health
issue.
C
D
Reason
that
it's
important
to
safely
dispose
of
these
medications
to
have
them
destroyed
properly.
We
don't
want
people
to
flush
them
down
the
toilet
or
throw
them
out
in
the
trash
again.
If
you
put
them
out
in
the
trash
they
still
could
become
available
to
another
person
or
an
animal
or
somebody
passing
by
they
can
become
toxin
to
the
water
system.
They
can
get
into
the
water
system
through
that
through
the
sewer
system.
All
of
these
things
are
a
possibility
if
they're
not
destroyed
properly.
D
April
27th
is
a
great
opportunity
because
there's
locations
Metro
wide
on
any
day
any
week.
You
can
bring
them
to
two
of
our
patrol
division
stations,
the
North
patrol
division
or
the
Short
Creek
patrol
division,
and
there
are
receptacles
there.
You
can.
No
questions
asked
bring
in
your
unwanted
prescription
medication
and
you
can
drop
them
off
there
safely
and
they
will
be
destroyed
in
the
same
man,
but
they
will
be
accepted
there
on
any
given
day
drug.
C
D
School
of
Pharmacy
will
have
people
on
staff
to
answer
questions
about
prescription
medication.
We
have
partnerships
with
several
pharmacies
across
the
area
as
well
as
several
hospitals.
We
also
have
Midtown
KC
now,
which
is
a
business
association
in
the
Midtown
area.
They
are
partnering
by
providing
locations
and
representatives
from
their
organization
as
well.
We
have
people
from
Addiction
Services
staffing
on
site
that
will
be
able
to
answer
questions
as
well
as
our
kCPT
representatives.
There'll,
be
multiple
community
interaction
officers.

These
images
from
the
summer
of
2017
are
hard
to
forget.
Relentless
rain
sent
Indian
Creek
surging
over
its
banks
at
a
hundred
and
third
and
Wornall
in
South
Kansas
City,
the
water
flooded
coach's
bar
and
nearly
everything
around
it.
A
few
blocks
east
is
cinder
middle
school
back
when
I
was
in
elementary.
It
was
closed.
The
roads
were
closed.
The
students
and
teachers
remember
the
high
water
in.

G
H
Love
the
energy
that
the
kids
have
and
the
ideas
they
just
flow
and
if
you
can
put
a
hands-on
approach
to
what
they've
learned
in
the
classroom,
then
you
get
something
great.
You
know
they
take
what
they've
learned
about
plantings
and
grasses
and
development
and
they
go
and
they
make
some
absolutely
wonderful.
Things
happen.

B
The
31st
annual
trolley
run
happens
on
April
28th
and
it's
supported
by
the
neighborhood
Tourist
Development
Fund.
It
is
also
the
largest
fundraiser
for
CC
VI
or
the
Children's
Center
for
the
visually
impaired
here.
To
tell
us
more
about
the
organization
and
all
about
the
trolley
run
is
trolley,
run
co-chair
and
Jaime's
Angie.
Thank
you
for
being
here
on
the
trolley
drink
happy
to
be
here
now.
Can
you
give
us
a
little
bit
of
information
about
CC,
VI
and
the
services
that
they
provide?
Yes,.
I
The
Children's
Center
for
the
visually
impaired
was
started
in
1952
entering
its
67th
year
and
they
provide
comprehensive
services
for
blind
and
visually
impaired
children
from
birth
to
age.
Five,
these
children
are
referred
to
CC
VI
from
physicians,
state
and
local
county
agencies,
and
CC
VI
provides
physical
therapy
occupational
therapy.
They
offer
a
home-based
infant
program
that
serves
225
infants,
supportive
family
services,
a
preschool
and
kindergarten
program.
They
really
do
everything
possible
to
help
these
children
and
their
families
realize
that
these
children
have
so
much
potential.
I
B
I
He
had,
or
the
company
had
two
restaurants,
one
in
the
plaza
area
and
one
in
the
Brookside
area,
and
they
it
would
be
a
great
run
to
link
up
these
two
vital
areas
in
Kansas
City,
so
the
run
began
and
it
was
kind
of
a
natural
fit
to
run
it
along
the
trolley
trail
and
the
course
has
remained
largely
the
same
in
all
of
these
years
and
we
begin
at
75th
and
Wornall.
We
finished
along
Brush
Creek,
a
great
finish,
lying
along
the
plaza
with
a
fabulous
after
bash
tons
of
sponsors.
B
I
Do
it's
one
of
my
most
favorite
parts
of
the
race?
They
we
offer
family
teams,
and
this
can
be
for
current
students
or
graduates
of
CC
VI.
They
start
their
own
family
team.
They
get
their
own
t-shirts,
their
own
team
name.
We
have
I,
think
55
family
teams
from
last
year
we're
hoping
to
have
maybe
60
this
year
and
over
1,000
runners,
walkers
that
participate
friends
and
family
members.
It's
really
kind
of
a
competitive
thing
between
the
families
and
they
raise
so
much
money
that
helps
us
with
programming
and
there's
such
spirited
participants.
I
I
We
have
a
fantastic
website,
it's
at
trolley,
Run
org.
It
gives
you
information
about
the
course
where
you
park
how
to
sign
up
how
to
volunteer.
We
always
need
race,
day,
volunteers
and
volunteers
to
help
with
packet,
pickup
course
marshals
after
bash
volunteers,
you
can
walk,
you
can
run
it's
all
available
on
the
website
and
it's
a
super
easy
process
to
sign
up
and.
I
Vi,
where
would
they
go?
They
can
go
to
CC
VI
org.
There
are
also
some
links
on
the
trolley
run
website
that
will
give
people
information
really
about
how
their
money
affects
Cece
VI.
It
goes
directly
toward
programming
and
we
highlight
several
ways
in
which
their
money
provides
support
for
these
amazing
children,
great.
