B
Everyone
I'm
Chris
Hernandez
city
communications,
director,
and
this
is
the
weekly
report
and
yep.
It's
the
work
from
home
edition.
We
are
running
a
virtual
City
Hall
and
those
employees
who
can
work
from
home
are
working
from
home.
We
are
taking
this
stay
home,
Casey
initiative
very
seriously,
but
that
also
means
that
city
facilities
are
closed
to
the
public.
Keep
in
mind,
of
course,
that
there
are
lots
of
city
employees
who
can't
do
their
jobs
from
home
and
folks
at
work
in
solid
waste
and
our
street
repair
crews.
B
B
Crucial
for
them
to
keep
performing
their
duties
while
our
folks
are
on
the
job.
They
are
also
practicing
good
hygiene
and
proper
sanitation
measures.
That
means
washing
their
hands
very
frequently
and
also
wiping
down
their
equipment
in
between
uses,
and
they
are
also
maintaining
social
distance
between
themselves,
their
co-workers
and
you,
the
public
when
they
come
into
contact
with
you
right
now.
As
we
said,
many
Civic
facilities
are
closed
to
the
public,
but
you
can
continue
to
get
all
your
services
online.
B
B
We
appreciate
that
you
are
closely
following
the
stay
home
Casey
initiative
and
the
state
of
emergency
issued
by
the
mayor.
We
know
it's
difficult
and
we
know
there
are
a
lot
of
questions.
That's
why
you
can
go
to
our
website
at
Casey,
macguff,
slash
coronavirus
and
look
for
the
FAQ
section.
We
have
n
thank
yous,
frequently
asked
questions
and
answers
to
let
you
know
how
this
all
works,
but
let's
run
through
just
a
couple
right
now.
One
of
the
biggest
questions
is:
does
this
mean
I
have
to
actually
stay
at
home?
Can
I
go
outside?
B
Yes,
you
can
go
outside
and
we
encourage
everyone
to
get
out
and
run
run,
walk,
write
their
bike.
That
sort
of
thing,
if
you
go
to
the
parks,
use
the
park
space
and
the
trails,
but
don't
use
the
courts
and
don't
play
on
the
playgrounds.
There
are
other
questions
about
how
do
I
know
what
an
essential
business
is.
We
have
a
whole
list
on
our
website
and
if
you
are
a
business
and
wanting
to
clarify
whether
you
are
considered
essential
or
non-essential,
you
can
contact
our
biscarrat
just
email,
Casey,
MS
care
at
KCMO
org.
B
The
City
Council
also
continues
to
meet
and
you
can
watch
those
meetings
on
channel
2
on
your
cable
channel
or
you
can
go
online
and
watch
it
on
our
youtube
channel.
That's
at
youtube.com,
slash
KC
MO
CCO.
If
you
would
like
to
testify
about
any
ordinance,
that's
being
heard,
you
can
send
an
email
to
public
testimony
at
KC,
MO
org
be
sure
to
include
the
ordinance
number
in
the
subject
line.
These
comments
will
be
read
aloud
during
the
public
comment
period
and
added
to
the
public
record.
B
The
city
is
continuing
with
essential
services
such
as
trash
pickup.
Remember
that
we
have
unlimited
curbside
recycling.
So
this
is
a
good
chance
to
go
through
your
bags
and
make
sure
you're
recycling
more
and
putting
less
into
your
trash
bags.
You
can
also
leave
the
house
to
go
to
the
store
or
pharmacy.
Those
are
considered
essential,
errands
and
you
won't
be
stopped
as
you
go
around
town
and
there
is
no
need
to
carry
any
sort
of
paperwork
to
prove
why
you
are
town.
The
City
Council
has
also
extended
the
e
tax
filing
period.
B
That's
right
is:
it
is
extended
until
July
15th
that
will
match
up
with
state
and
federal
tax
filing
extensions,
but
if
you
can
file
and
pay
by
April
15th,
we
would
appreciate
it.
City
Council
also
passed
its
budget
for
the
upcoming
year
and
it
includes
a
lot
of
priorities
that
you
requested,
such
as
zero
fare
bus
transit
and
the
budget
came
in
at
roughly
the
same
as
last
year,
just
over
1.7
billion
dollars.
With
many
of
your
priorities,
including
73%
of
the
general
fund
going
to
public
safety.
B
E
I'm
Quinton
Lucas
mayor
of
Kansas
City,
it's
getting
warmer
outside,
but
we
recognize
that
we
still
have
to
confront
the
corona
virus.
As
part
of
that,
we've
got
a
number
of
orders
to
change
the
way
we
live
in
Kansas
City,
so
that
we
can
stop
the
spread
of
pruna
virus.
That
includes
social
distancing,
but
that
also
includes
making
sure
that,
when
we're
in
parks
that
were
not
on
playground,
equipment
play
it
safe,
Kansas
City.
As
part
of
that,
if
you're
going
to
our
parks,
you
can
walk
so
long
as
you
maintain
social
distancing.
E
What
you
can't
do
is
play
on
playground,
equipment
on
courts
or
congregate
in
large
groups.
It's
up
to
all
of
us
to
make
sure
our
friends,
our
neighbors
and
our
community
is
safe.
I.
Thank
you
for
taking
important
steps
to
make
sure
we
play
it
safe,
don't
fill
up
the
parks,
make
sure
that
if
you're
there
you're
alone
and
you're,
not
large
groups
and
also
make
sure
that
we're
not
on
playground,
equipment
or
play
it
in
large
organized
games.
Thanks
for
what
you
do
and
stay
well,.
C
He
is
awesome
because
the
Virginia
opossum
is
actually
the
only
marsupial
in
North
America
and
they
don't
live
on
any
other
continent,
and
in
case
you
don't
know,
marsupials
are
the
animals
that
raise
their
babies
in
a
pouch.
Here's
a
really
cool
thing
guys
these
babies
look
like
jelly
beans
about
their
size
of
a
jelly
bean,
they're
pink
naked,
looking
aliens
that
I'd
actually
have
to
travel
up
the
outside
of
the
pouch
to
get
into
the
pouch
where
the
milk
is
at
and
mom
can
actually
raise.
C
13
babies
in
that
pouch
at
one
time,
pretty
awesome
right.
So
we
don't
really
know
what
happened
to
Peggy
out
in
the
wild.
She
was
very
fortunate,
though,
that
somebody
noticed
she
was
limping,
which
wouldn't
have
been
normal
and
when
they
looked
closer
she
saw
they
had
an
injury
up
here
on
this
front
leg.
She
wasn't
born
that
way.
It
actually
got
removed,
and
at
some
point
or
in
some
fashion-
and
you
can't
even
really
tell
that
she
just
has
a
little
a
little
nub
right
there.
C
She
would
have
a
difficult
time
surviving
in
the
wild
and
we
didn't
think
it
would
be
fair
to
put
her
out
there
on
her
own
and
say
there
you
go
try
to
make
it
work,
whereas
we
can
use
her
here
as
an
ambassador.
Animal
Peggy
by
nature
is
extremely
docile,
which
is
not
typical,
possum
behavior.
Now,
because
of
that,
we
can
use
her
for
education
and
a
lot
of
times.
People
have
their
first
and
only
opportunity
to
touch
opossum
by
coming
to
Lakeside
Nature
Center,
I'm
Jacquie
Blessington.
F
Have
you
received
a
census
postcard
in
your
mailbox
census?
Data
helps
the
city
receive
millions
in
federal
funding
for
projects
such
as
the
KC,
streetcar,
housing,
health
and
many
other
programs.
Now
is
a
great
time
to
fill
out
the
census.
It's
easy
be
sure
to
include
everyone
in
your
household,
so
take
some
time
to
be
counted.
You
can
do
it
by
mail
phone
or
online
at
2020
census,
gov.
Let's
make
sure
a
KC
stands
up
and
gets
counted.
G
Many
people
think,
after
a
flush,
it's
all
gone,
but
what
we
flush
ends
up
here
at
a
wastewater
treatment
facility.
While
more
people
are
buying
more
wipes,
we
don't
want
them
to
end
up
here.
Casey
water
reminds
customers
to
not
discard
wipes
into
the
toilet
manufacturers
market,
these
products
as
flushable,
but
they
do
not
break
down
in
water,
Casey,
water's,
wastewater
treatment,
plants
use
equipment
to
pull
plastics
wipes
and
any
other
items
that
should
not
be
flushed
out
of
the
wastewater
before
treatment.
The
items
are
removed
and
placed
in
a
dumpster.
G
H
They're
marketed
as
flexible,
but
they
won't
dissolve
and
the
only
thing
we
went
down
the
toilet
are
the
three-piece,
pee,
poop
and
paper
toilet
paper
which
all
dissolve
in
the
water
and
then,
which
is
what
the
treatment
plant
was
built
for.
That's
why
we're
here
is
to
collect
those
three,
the
plastics
and
the
felt
the
wipes
are
actually
a
felt
material
and
they
never
break
down
just
like
plastic,
so
they
stay
in
the
environment,
forever.
Clogged.
G
Wipes
can
also
cause
plumbing
problems
in
homes
and
backups
and
Casey
water
sewer
lines.
A
recent
blockage
of
debris,
which
included,
wipes
and
gloves,
caused
a
sewer
manhole
on
West
71st
Terrace
to
overflow,
which
resulted
in
28,000
gallons
of
wastewater
overflow
for
Casey
water,
I'm,
Heather,
Frierson,.
I
D
D
I
I
We
felt
like
we
have
a
great
exhibit
to
begin
with,
but,
as
is
the
case
with
every
exhibit
as
it
grows
and
ages
through
time,
this
was
built
back
in
1995.
At
the
same
time,
we
expanded
the
African
section,
so
there
were
just
things
that
we
could
improve
upon
both
for
the
animals
for
the
public,
for
our
staff,
and
so,
whenever
we're
doing
whether
it
be
a
new
exhibit
or
something
that
just
needs
to
be
revamped
a
little
bit,
we
try
to
look
at
all
three
of
those
things.
I
D
I
I
can
tell
you
number
one:
we
need
a
new
pool.
The
old
pole
was
leaking
like
a
sieve
and
we
just
needed
something
new
not
only
to
to
hamper
the
water
issues
we
were
having,
but
we
do
have
an
an
older
group
of
elephants
and,
as
we
continue
to
to
get
older,
it's
easier
for
them
to
get
in
and
out
of
a
pool,
it's
the
slope
similar
to
what
you'd
find
in
a
pool
in
your
your
own
backyard
or
in
the
community.
I
I
We'll
have
a
lot
more
sandy
area,
so
I'll
be
nicer
on
their
joints
will
have
some
more
shaded
areas,
not
only
for
the
elephants,
but
also
for
the
people,
yeah
and
and
so
a
lot
of
stuff
going
on
inside
the
exhibit,
but
outside
the
exhibit
for
those
people
who
have
been
to
the
zoo.
You
know
that
the
pathways
around
there
were
just
they
were
getting
worn,
worn
out
and
also
pretty
skinny
when,
if
you
went
back
a
dozen
years,
we
had
450,000
people
that
visited
the
zoo,
and
now
we
have
close
to
a
million
people.
I
So
what
we've
done
is
we've
expanded
these
sidewalks
to
be
at
least
ten
feet
wide
nice.
So
no
longer
do
you
have
to
go
over
on
the
grass
or
go
down
onto
the
tram
road
to
to
bypass
an
area
and
it'll
make
it
really
nice
when
the
keepers
are
doing
their
chats,
which
is
one
of
the
the
really
well
attended
times
at
the
zoo
for
people
to
sit.
Listen
to
the
keepers,
see
how
smart
the
elephants
really
are.
I
A
lot
of
people
like
to
stick
around
and
see
that
so
we've
expanded
this
area,
so
people
can
stay
and
watch
but
again
not
have
to
go
out
in
the
tram
ER.
In
order
to
see
that
the
show
going
on
will
also
have
a
lot
of
speakers
set
up
here.
So
even
if
you
have
to
get
pushed
a
little
off
to
the
side,
you
don't
get
maybe
the
best
seat.
In
the
house,
you'll
still
be
able
to
see
and
hear
what's
going
on
and.
I
D
I
What
we've
been
trying
to
do,
as
we
recreate
things
here
at
the
zoo,
look
at
people
with
special
needs,
so
we'll
have
one
of
the
rooms
we'll
have
an
adult
changing
table,
so
people
who
like
to
bring
their
their
kids,
who
might
need
a
little
extra
help
that
will
be
helpful
for
them
will
have
a
mothering
room
there
too.
We
added
a
mothering
room
in
the
penguin,
exhibit
it's
so
popular
that
we'll
be
adding
more
of
those
as
we
continue
to
go
along.
I
D
I
We're
hoping
that
you
can't
see
it
quite
yet,
but
back
where
that
white
backhoe
is
back
there,
there's
a
life
support
building
which
will
be
filtering
the
water.
So
no
longer
will
the
staff
have
to
always
get
in
and
dump
the
pool
on
a
regular
basis.
So
it's
not
only
helpful
for
the
staff
but
as
a
conservation
message
too,
we
shouldn't
be
using
nearly
as
much
water
as
what
we
have
in
past
year,
so
that's
easier
for
them.
They'll
have
a
little
bit
easier
access
to
get
in
the
exhibit.
I
Well,
also
again,
you
can't
see
this
quite
yet
because
we're
not
there,
but
the
exhibit
will
be
split
into
1/2,
so
we'll
have
another
gate,
so
we'll
have
more
options.
So
if
you
have
to
move
an
elephant
or
a
group
of
elephants
away
from
another
group
of
elephants,
we'll
really
have
three
different
options.
Now,
where
elephants
can
go
and
be
seen
by
the
visitors,
fantastic.
D
I

The
mayor's
directive
does
allow
residents
to
engage
in
outdoor
activity
like
running
hiking,
biking
and
walking,
provided
everyone
complies
with
social
distancing
guidelines
when
you
go
outside,
please
enjoy
any
of
kansas
city's
221
parks
and
more
than
a
hundred
and
thirty
miles
of
trails
responsibly
and
safely,
please
observe
the
following
practice:
social
distancing
at
least
10
feet.
Kc
parks
has
more
than
12,000
acres
to
choose
from
there's
room
for
everyone,
refrain
from
gathering
and
groups
of
more
than
10,
and
all
of
our
playgrounds
and
courts
will
be
closed.
