of
2012.
This

easy

overview
of
the
city's

B
Those
who
didn't
read
about
this
particular
story.
It
is
safe
to
say
that
this
hotel
housed
more
than
your
regular
guests.
It
housed
a
number
of
other
things
as
well:
prostitution,
drugs,
unsafe
living
standards,
a
number
of
violations
that
our
officers,
safranek
and
he'll
went
above
and
beyond
the
call
of
duty
by
organizing
what
transpired
on
October
17th,
which
was
a
multi-jurisdictional,
a
multi-agency
raid
on
that
facility.
B
What
they
did
was
marshal

including

Animal,

Department,
homeless,
hotlines,
Red
Cross,
various
churches,
family
and
friends
of
the
residents

neighborhoods.
To
put
all
of
those
pieces
together
is
is
quite
an
undertaking
and
they
did
that
very
successfully.
B
And
so
it
is
with
great
thanks
not
only
from
the
first
District
Council
members,
but
also
the
individuals
of
the
Northland,
the
people
of
the
Northland,
that
we
have
these
two
officers
to
thank
for
their
fine
work,
and
it's
for
that
reason
that
they
are
our
original
pacesetters
for
November,
Thank
You.

E
Theft
from
autos
is
a
problem
that
concerns
all
of
us
in
one
week
within
the
kc
metro
area,
100
GPS
units
39,
digital
cameras,
150
stereos
and
32
iPods
were
pond
in
2009
theft
from
autos,
and
the
related
vehicle
damage
was
responsible
for
twenty-five
percent
of
all
the
reported
crime
in
Kansas
City
Missouri.
There
are
simple
steps
you
can
take
to
reduce
your
chances
of
becoming
a
victim.
Thieves
are
known
to
break
into
a
car
just
for
the
petty
change
in
the
console,
so
imagine
how
motivated
they
are.
E
When
they
see
a
GPS,
iPod
cell
phone
or
laptop,
they
could
pawn
be
sure
to
remove
any
items
of
value
from
view
to
avoid
becoming
a
target
thieves,
most
likely
won't
break
into
your
vehicle
just
to
see
if
there's
anything
of
value
nationwide
each
year,
1.25
five
billion
dollars
in
personal
items
and
accessories
are
stolen
from
vehicles.
In
about
1.85
million
thefts,
you
can
take
an
active
role
in
preventing
theft
from
other
vehicles
as
well,
be
cautious
of
those
loitering
and
parking
lots
and
report
it.
E
Should
you
have
a
break
in
there
are
things
you
can
do
to
improve
your
chances
of
getting
your
stuff
back
right
down
model
and
serial
numbers
of
all
your
electronics
a
great
place
to
store
it
is
on
an
internet
based
email
account
like
yahoo
or
hotmail.
That
way,
if
your
computer
is
stolen,
you
can
retrieve
the
information
from
any
other
computer.
Also
take
note
of
identifiable
marks.
E
Nicks
and
scratches
I
have
a
friend
who
uses
white
liquid
paper
to
mark
dots
on
all
of
his
stuff,
even
as
golf
clubs
and
as
tennis
rackets
in
our
next
series
we'll
talk
about
what
to
do.
If
you
become
a
victim
of
a
property
crime
and
how
KCPD
handles
recovered
property,
I'm
Shelly
gaddis
working
with
you
to
make
kansas
city
a
safer
place
to
live.
F
Hi
I'm
Floyd
people's
I'm,
the
fire
marshal
for
the
Kansas
City
Fire
Department,
I'm
here
today
to
talk
to
you
about
fire
safety
and
the
importance
of
smoke.
Alarms
in
your
home
smoke
alarm
is
one
of
the
most
important
fire
safety
items
you
can
have
in
your
home.
No
home
safety
plan
can
begin
without
a
smoke
alarm
being
in
place.
F
Smoke
alarms
are
so
important
because
they
can
cut
down
on
the
the
risk
of
death
in
a
fire
by
an
early
alert
and
it's
a
reduction
of
up
to
fifty
percent
chance
of
dying
in
a
fire.
If
you
have
a
properly
placed
working
smoke
alarm,
let's
talk
about
properly
working
smoke,
alarms,
they
have
to
be
maintained.
A
smoke
alarm
needs
to
be
vacuumed
once
a
year
just
to
get
it
clean
and
change
the
battery
once
a
year.
F
There
are
batteries
that
are
10-year
lithium-ion,
they're
tamper-proof
and
that's
the
modern
smoke
alarm
that
you
can
find
in
hardware
stores,
retail
outlets,
etc.
We
even
have
some
on
the
Kansas
City
Fire
Department
that
we
can
give
away
for
free
and
Kansas
City
Fire
Department
will
even
install
those
for
you.
If
you
would
like
one
of
these
smoke
alarms,
you
can
call
eight
one
six,
seven,
eight
four
nine
100
and
place
an
order
for
your
smoke
alarm.
F
If
you
would
like
to
pick
one
up
at
your
local
fire
station,
stop
in
pick
up
an
alarm
if
you
need
some
assistance
with
the
installation
that
fire
station
will
be
happy
to
help
you
with
the
installation
of
that
smoke
alarm.
Now,
it's
very
important
to
understand
that
a
smoke
alarm
is
designed
to
give
you
an
early
alert.
So
you
need
to
have
it
in
the
right
place:
there's
directions
in
every
box
with
a
smoke
alarm
that
tells
you
where
it
needs
to
be
placed,
but
it
doesn't
hurt
to
be
reminded.
F
G
H
Your
leftovers,
the
rule
of
thumb
with
restaurant,
is
it.
Restaurants
will
allow
a
maximum
of
seven
days
with
leftovers
and
that's
pretty
safe
room
that
people
should
think
about
in
their
homes
as
well.
One
thing
a
person
may
do
is
just
figure
that
if
you
cook
the
food
on
a
certain
day,
you
got
until
that
Wednesday
of
the
following
week,
because
we
consider
the
thursday
the
day
of
cooking
as
they
want.
You
add
six
days
to
that.
One
of
the
things
that
people
do
want
to
consider.
H
Maybe
they
want
to
date,
mark
their
foods,
do
something
like
that
make
sure
you
avoid
mixing
raw
wood
fresh.
You
want
to
make
sure
that
you
have
your
leftovers
on
upper
shelves,
any
other
raw
meat
make
sure
you
put
it
on
the
bottom
shelf,
always
to
avoid
cross-contamination
now
reheating,
here's
one
thing
a
person
has
to
do.
Most
people
will
have
a
tendency
where
they
will
cook
cool,
reheat
cool
reheat
that
procedures,
dangerous
people
should
always
understand
the
food
should
be
cooked,
cooled
reheated,
one
time
after
that
food
should
be
distorted.
