A
Hi
everyone
welcome
to
the
weekly
report.
I'm
sheree
honeycutt
with
the
public
works
department,
and
here
are
the
top
three
things
that
you
need
to
know
this
week.
Road
resurfacing
is
in
full
swing
across
the
city.
Some
projects
are
along
linwood,
boulevard,
bannister,
road
and
north
troost.
If
you
want
to
know
where
we'll
be
next
check
out,
the
street
preservation
map
on
our
website
july
is
pet
fire
safety
month.
A
Chewed
wires
are
the
number
one
cause
of
accidental
fires
caused
by
pets,
but
reducing
open
flames,
keeping
stove
knobs
covered
and
pet
proofing
your
home
can
reduce
the
chance
of
accidental
fire.
Also
be
sure
your
pet
is
part
of
your
family
emergency
plan.
A
new
pollinator
garden
is
coming
to
union
station
near
the
streetcar.
Stop
300
native
plants
will
replace
the
turf
grass
creating
a
habitat
for
pollinators
like
butterflies
and
bees
and
other
insects.
The
garden
includes
a
footpath
for
you
to
explore
the
garden
and
take
some
cool
picks
with
the
dinosaur
skeleton.
A
A
B
On
the
citizen,
satisfactory
survey
they
sent
out
streets
are
a
big
priority.
We're
trying
to
meet
that
priority.
We're
trying
to
work
smarter,
not
harder
so
with
that
gains
efficiency.
So
we're
able
to
do
300
lane
miles
each
year
is
what
we're
projected
and
we
may
be
able
to
do
a
little
bit
more
ross.
B
Showing
where
we've
been
where
we
currently
are
and
where
we're
going
to
be
so,
if
you
don't
find
your
your
street
on
that
list,
we
can't
get
to
every
single
one
with
the
amount
of
funding
that
we
have.
You
know
but
put
in
3-1-1
put
it
on
the
list,
we'll
go
out
and
investigate
it
and
then
we'll
go
from
there.
He.
A
C
Hi,
I'm
tori
fugate
at
kc
pet
project
at
the
kansas
city
campus
for
animal
care.
We
know
that
pets
are
part
of
our
family,
but
they
can
also
be
curious
and
they
can
start
fires
in
your
home
by
chewing
on
wires
bumping
into
your
stove
and
equipment
and
knocking
over
space
heaters,
and
so
we
want
to
be
able
to
keep
them
safe
in
your
household
this
time
of
year.
D
D
If
you
have
a
pet
that
tends
to
chew
on
electrical
cords,
try
to
keep
the
cords
put
up
and
keep
pets
away
from
them
and,
most
importantly,
have
working
smoke,
alarms
on
every
level
of
the
home
test,
your
smoke
alarms
at
least
once
a
month.
If
the
smoke
alarm
sounds
get
out
and
stay
out,
never
go
back
inside
for
pets
in
a
fire.
Tell
firefighters
if
your
pet
is
trapped.
C
You
should
also
include
your
pet
in
your
home
emergency
plan
having
an
emergency
bag
for
your
pet
is
just
as
important
as
having
a
bag
for
other
family
members.
You
may
also
want
to
have
a
pet
carrier
to
take
your
pet
with
you
in
case
of
the
emergency,
for
more
information,
go
to
kcmo.gov
fire
and
for
more
information
on
how
to
adopt
adorable
pets
like
this
go
to

E
Native
plants,
in
a
lot
of
ways,
they
are
foundational
in
our
food
web
and
one
of
the
things
that
we
talk
about
is
the
way
the
way
we've
been
taught
to
landscape,
with
turf
grass
and
and
boxwood
bushes
and
and
things
that
didn't
really
come
from
north
america.
It
creates
a
virtual
food
desert
for
birds
and
pollinators
and
butterflies
that
that
want
to
live
here
too.
F
F
We
have
almost
exclusively
carnivores
on
this
path
and
we
have
herbivores
on
the
other
path.
We
wanted
to
show
how
you
can
use
native
plants
to
create
a
very
structured
manicured,
look
that
has
organization
blocks
of
color
that
blooms
at
various
times
of
the
year,
so
that
you
have
a
constant
bloom
from
late
march
until
late
october,
and
that
was
really
important
to
us
and
it
was
important
to
union
station.
E
Deep
roots
is
encouraging
people
to
plant
native
plants,
whether
it's
in
containers
on
their
patios,
a
garden
in
their
front
or
backyard,
or,
if
you're
fortunate
enough
to
have
acreages,
considering
like
a
prairie
planting,
but
even
just
a
couple
of
plants
can
make
a
huge
difference.
If
you
visit
our
website
at
deeproots.org
org,
we
can
direct
you
to
informational
webinars.
We
can
direct
you
to
an
upcoming
conference.
G
Today
we
are
out
here
cleaning
up
smoke
parkway,
it's
part
of
our
big
boulevard
and
parkway
cleanup
with
the
challenge
conference.
Collectively,
the
volunteers
have
picked
up
about
15
000
pounds
of
trash.
So
far
this
week,
the
majority
of
it
is
fireworks
debris.
The
parks
employees
were
very
appreciative
of
the
work
of
the
volunteers.
This
week.
What
they've
accomplished
with
1500
volunteers
was
all
the
responsibility
of
our
four
maintenance
districts
make
sure
you're
staying
hydrated.
We
have
extra
water
if
you
want
to
fill
up
your
bottles
before.
