which

and
local
government
employees.
Now,
let's
check
in
with
some
of
our
city's
departments
for
information
and
insight.
B
Well,
welcome
to
our
groundbreaking
for
some
improvements
here
in
hidden
valley
park,
and
I
guess
one
of
our
goals
is
to
make
Hidden
Valley
less
hidden
so
that
it
becomes
one
of
the
premier
parks
in
the
Northland
of
the
city
and
we're
glad
to
be
here
today
for
a
very
important
groundbreaking
event.
I've
got
a
few
comments,
I'm
going
to
make
a
little
later
on,
but
first
thing
I'd
like
to
do
is
ask
Dave,
mecklenburg
and
Dave,
of
course,
is
one
of
our
park
commissioners
to
come
forward
and
make
some
comments.
Commissioner,
Mecklenburg.
C
Very
pleased
to
see
some
activity
happening
in
this
park,
the
the
master
plan
and
the
beginning
of
the
development
of
the
park,
which
is
long
long
overdue.
The
population
around
here
is,
is
growing
and
getting
thicker.
The
usage
potential
is
going
to
be
much
greater.
So
again,
thank
you
all
for
coming
and
Alan.
Would
you
know
the
Commissioner?
Would
you
like
to
say
something.
D
Thanks
Dave
also
I'd
like
to
say
thank
you
to
Keith
for
all
his
efforts
here,
I
think
actually,
the
first
time
at
Keith.
We
talked
about
this
park,
so
it's
great
to
be
here
today.
This
is
a
quite
a
gym
for
our
system,
especially
up
here
in
the
Northland
and
with
this
part
of
the
park,
and
then
the
Natural
Area.
It's
just
a
great
area
here.

The
Police
Athletic
League
recently
held
their
grand
reopening
at
the
pal
center.
The
event
was
held
to
celebrate
the
completion
of
the
new
football
and
baseball
field,
and
the
my
read
of
improvements
made
this
past
year.
Powell
also
used
the
opportunity
to
thank
the
many
corporate
partners
who
made
the
750,000
worth
of
improvements
possible.
G
H
Lot
of
the
changes
that
we've
had
down
here
include
a
new
roof
in
an
area
that
the
roof
was
leaking.
All
new
gutters
for
the
building
the
whole
exterior
of
the
building
has
been
painted.
We
have
a
whole
new
parking
lot.
We
have.
The
NFL
gave
us
a
hundred
thousand
dollars
so
that
we
could
put
in
a
football
field
for
our
kids.
We've
had
several
contractors
who
donated
fill
dirt
so
that
we
could
build
a
baseball
field.
H
I
Couple
years
have
been
kind
of
tough,
because
I've
lost
my
mom.
Recently
we
lost
her
in
2010
to
breast
cancer.
Sadly,
but
was
everyone
here,
Donna
Powell,
they've,
really
comfort
me
back.
H
The
police
officers
interact
with
these
kids
is
absolutely
key.
The
areas
that
these
kids
live
in
are
not
safe
areas.
This
facility
gives
them
a
place
to
come
that
safe,
it's
fun
it's
nurturing
and
their
interactions
with
the
cops
and
a
positive
way
changes
lies
every
single
day.
One
afternoon,
I
came
down
to
the
center
late
in
the
day
and
I
sat
down
to
next
to
a
little
girl
and
I
asked
her
her
name.
She
was
all
by
herself.
