A
Hello,
everyone
I'm
Chris
Hernandez,
and
this
is
the
weekly

Your
look
at

of
Kansas
City

one
step
closer
thanks
to
a
land
donation
from
Timothy
Harris,
his
father
served
a
CFD
for
more
than
35
years.
The
seven
acres
located
near
291,
highway
and
sherman
road
will
help
the
department's
fulfill
another
part
of
its
strategic
plan
and
will
also
serve
a
rapidly
growing
section
of
the
city,
intersection
improvements
and
new
connections
to
the
trolley
trail
as
75th

in
2018.
A
Thanks
to
a
two-million-dollar
grants
announced
by
the
mid-america
Regional
Council,
the
project
is
also
funded
by
eight
hundred
fifteen
thousand
dollars
in
capital
improvement
money.
It
includes
new
sidewalks
and
landscaping,
as
well
as
pedestrian
and
bicycle
improvements.
We'd,
like
your
feedback
on
proposed
city
policies,
and
you
don't
even
have
to
leave
your
living
room,
go
online
and
visit
kc
momentum,

the
city's
virtual
town
hall.
The
city
is
working
to
implement
a
digital
equity
strategic
plan
to
help
all
residents
and
to
provide
economic
mobility.
A
Also,
the
city
is
considering
an
ordinance
to
make
it
legal
to
rent
homes
online
through
websites
like
Airbnb
or
home
away.
The
goal
is
to
balance
the
right
of
property
owners
to
rent
out
their
property
and
the
right
of
neighbors
to
preserve
the
character
of
their
neighborhoods.
Take
a
look,
and
let

Messed
up
I'm
a
super
advocate
a
downtown
resident
for
going
on
12
years,
I'm,
an
all-around
urban
living
advocate
and
a
believer
in
Kansas
City's
potential.
So
obviously,
I
have
been
involved
with
the
streetcar,
which
is
one
of
the
things
we're
really
paying
attention
to
these
days
and
rightfully
so.
It's
a
big
deal
but
I've
been
involved
in
a
variety
of
ways
through
Neighborhood
Association,
community
groups,
planning
exercises
sharing
the
park
and
trance
States,
Commission
and
yelling,
with
the
way
that
this
environment
works
so
I
try
to
impact
it
big
in
little
ways
every
day.
C
The
way
we
experience
downtown,
whether
we
notice
it
or
not
from
every
level,
there's
a
lot
of
vision
for
what
Kansas
City
can
be
and
there's
a
lot
of
new
attention
and
energy
and
I
think
this
streetcar
is
an
amazing
testament
to
that.
The
fact
that
we're
going
to
do
really
big
things
in
Kansas
City.
D
I'm
Deb
Churchill
property
manager
at
the
city
market.
You
know,
I
think
the
momentum
of
the
development,
the
audition
of
the
streetcar,
these
it's
a
wonderful
place
to
experience
what
a
downtown
community
is,
and
luckily
the
city
market
will
still
be
the
heart
of
downtown
the
foot
traffic
is
great.
The
people
are
having
a
good
time.
It's
a
great
experience.
It's
just
a
lot
of
fun,
I.
Think
being
a
part
of
the
revitalization
of
downtown
inspires
me
on
a
daily
basis.
I
encourage
everybody.
E
I'm
Julie
Nelson
years
and
I'm
a
senior
vice
president
in
community
banker
with
mobile
downtown
kc,
is
important
to
me
because
it's
the
heart
and
soul
of
kansas
city.
It's
made
up
of
so
many
legally
committed
inspired
people,
individuals,
business
owners,
entrepreneurs,
all
of
whom
are
breathing
new
life,
new
energy
and
bustles
into
the
downtown
streets.
My
work
with
moping
is
all
about
creating
and
supporting
community
at
a
grassroots
level.
F
G
My
name
is
Vince
Bryant
I
am
the
owner
founder
developer
of
3d
development.
We
focus
primarily
on
downtown
urban
development,
trying
to
bring
historic
buildings
back
to
life,
repurpose
them
and
hopefully
do
that
with
quality
and
highly
a
minute
eyes,
spaces
that
drive
the
market
or
the
top
of
the
market
to
the
office.
We've
been
fortunate
that
each
project
has
in
succession
been
really
the
top
of
the
market,
starting
with
2101
Broadway
in
2014,
20,
100,
central
or
the
creamery
and
2015,
and
now
the
Corrigan
opening
up
in
2016
and
also
early
2017,
the
buildings.
G
H
We've
got
50
houses,
we're
going
to
sell
them
for
999
dollars.
Folks
are
going
to
have
to
show
that
they
have
the
same
amount
of
money,
8500
dollars
to
fix
these
houses
up
that
they
had
a
means
to
fix
these
houses
up.
This
is
a
follow-up
to
our
dollar
home
sale.
We
had
in
2016.
Most
of
the
feedback
we
got
was
that
folks
wanted
better
houses
and
they
wouldn't
mind
paying
a
little
more
money
for
them,
so
the
doll
houses
were
all
in
very
poor
condition
and
what
we're
calling
our
heart
of
casey
home
sale.
H
It's
going
to
be
houses
that
are
in
fair
condition,
which
is
about
the
best
that
we
get
we're
going
to
focus
mostly
on
owner
occupied
houses.
These
houses
will
all
need
some
doors
and
windows.
They'll
need
some
roofing.
Maybe
they'll
need
electrical
work.
Plumbing
HVAC
work
and
you'll
need
to
paint
obviously
and
decorate
the
inside,
which
may
be
in
a
new
kitchen,
a
new
bathroom,
but
they
won't
have
foundation
issues.
They
won't
have
large
large
scale,
repairs
that
need
to
be
done.
They're,
not
dangerous
buildings.
Most
of
our
folks
do
their
own
work.
H
I
City
in
motion
is
a
modern
dance
company,
school
and
presenter
that
was
founded
over
30
years
ago.
Today
we
are
in
the
home
of
city
in
motion
at
3925,
Main
Street
and
we're
here
with
Andrea,
who
is
a
co-artistic
director
of
city
in
motion
to
talk
to
us
about
an
upcoming
performance
that
is
supported
by
neighborhood,
Tourist,
Development,
Fund
and
more
about
the
organization
Andrea.
I
K
K
I
K
The
founders
of
City
motion
got
our
not-for-profit
status,
founded
the
organization
in
1985
and
then
really
right
away.
We
had
performances
in
the
old
west
side
christian
church,
it
was
called
the
choreographer
showcase
and
choreographers
could
present
their
work
in
front
of
an
audience.
It
was
an
informal
setting,
but
professionally
produced
with
lighting
with
sound
with
june's,
so
right
away.
There
was
an
emphasis
on
giving
opportunities
to
choreographers
and
when.
I
K
K
K
What's
exciting,
is
the
choreographers
have
to
have
some
connection
to
Kansas
City,
but
this
year
we
have
a
choreographer
from
Oklahoma,
so
she
used
to
be
based
in
Kansas
City,
now
she's
teaching
in
Oklahoma.
So
she
will
bring
her
dancers
and
bring
people
from
Oklahoma
to
the
show
we
have
choreographers
from
st.
Louis
from
Lawrence
Kansas,
so
really
from
all
over
the
metro
area
and
outlining
cities,
Manhattan
Kansas,
Columbia,
Missouri,
so
yeah
now.
I
J
K
Our
School
of
Dance
has
classes
for
adults
and
children.
We
actually
have
the
biggest
selection
of
classes
for
adults
in
the
city.
It's
a
huge
range
of
modern,
ballet
jazz,
but
ethnic
dance
form
belly,
dancing
manapouri,
which
is
east
indian
swing.
Salsa,
you
name
it.
We
have
some
fun
classes
for
adults
and
then
the
children's
classes
are
also
the
traditional
ballet
modern,
tap
and
jazz,
but
we
have
a
children's
dance,
theater
ages,
8
to
12
and
our
princess
company.
Those
dancers
are
13
to
19
years
of
age.
K
So
it's
a
professional
track
program,
they're
required
to
take
two
technique
classes
a
week
and
rehearse
every
Saturday
and
I
think
what's
special
about
it.
Is
they
work
with
their
mentors
and
our
choreographers
that
work
with
our
dance
company,
so
they're
all
teachers,
professional,
dance
artists
that
are
working
with
the
children
and
they're
encouraged
to
not
only
improve
with
their
techniques,
but
they're
encouraged
to
choreograph
they're
encouraged
to
improvise.
So
it's
a
very
joyful.
I
K
M
Did
you
know
that
Missouri
senior
citizens
can
fish
for
free
in
Missouri?
Yes,
it's
true
in
the
show-me
state,
a
permit
isn't
needed
once
you've
reached
your
65th
birthday.
If
you're
a
Missouri
resident
to
prove
your
age
in
residency,
you're
Missouri's
driver's
license
will
suffice.
All
legal
fishing
methods
are
open
to
senior
anglers
without
a
fishing
permit,
including
basic
pole,
in
line
gigging
snagging
and
bow
one
caveat
for
trout
anglers
to
stay
on
the
right
side
of
the
regulations.
M
You
should
be
aware
that
a
trout
permit
or
a
daily
trout
fishing
tag
must
be
purchased
when
and
where
required
so
be
sure
to
check
regulations
beforehand.
If
you
plan
to
fish
for
or
possess
trout
here
is
the
Missouri
Department
of
Conservation.
It's
our
hope
that
retirees
can
take
advantage
of
their
hard
earned
free
time
to
enjoy
all
the
gifts
that
Missouri's
natural
beauty
provides
for
more
information.
Please
read
a
summary
of
Missouri's
fishing
regulations.
This
publication
is
available
online
and
wherever
permits
are
sold.
