C
Kansas
City
united
against
crime
held
a
kickoff
for
crime
prevention
month
at
swope
park
KCPD,
the
prosecutor's
office
link
and
many
other
local
entities
came
together
to
strengthen
relationships
and
inform
the
public
about
crime
prevention.
We
spoke
with
supervisor
steve
mcclellan
of
the
local
investment
commission,
otherwise
known
as
link
today.
D
Is
the
kickoff
for
crime
prevention
month
for
Kansas
City?
We
usually
have
a
night
out
against
crime,
but
this
year
under
chief
Forte,
he
wanted
to
have
a
different
concept,
which
is
a
month
of
crime,
prevention
and
crime
awareness.
So
this
is
kind
of
a
partnership
between
length,
the
local
investment
commission,
the
city
of
Kansas,
City
and
prosecutors
office
and
combat.
D
Do
thanks
to
link
we
transported
children
in
their
parents
will
be
involved
in
picking
them
up
being
a
part
of
the
first
day,
the
kickoff
for
crime
prevention
month,
we're
hoping
that
the
children
and
parents
will
engage
with
law
enforcement
to
kind
of
look
at
how
it
is.
We
need
to
engage
with
law
enforcement
to
look
at
all
the
prevalent
crimes
in
our
community,
so
we're
hoping
today
will
be
a
good
start
to
a
month
of
crime,
awareness
and
crime
prevention.
We
have
bounce
houses.
Today,
we've
got
information
tables
for
parents,
we've
got
food.
C
E
An
awful
lot
of
things
that
people
by
themselves
can
do
to
prevent
crime
they're
the
ones
that
actually
do
prevent
crime,
we're
reactive
as
a
police
department.
We
very
rarely
prevent
as
much
as
we'd
like
to
prevent
citizens.
Anybody
needs
to
do
some
very
basic
things,
use
the
locks
on
your
doors
for
your
car
and
your
house
trim
your
bushes
up,
keep
things
at
a
plain
view,
especially
in
your
cars.
If
you're
going
to
the
to
the
mall
or
grocery
store,
don't
leave
your
GPS
your
wallet,
your
laptop
and
plain
view?
E
E
What's
going
on
in
your
neighborhood,
the
newsletters,
the
email
groups,
something
very
basic,
just
watch
the
news
every
night
there's
a
lot
of
information
that
comes
out
about
patterns
and
things
that
are
happening,
that
you
can
get
good
information
from
and
not
be
a
victim
by
learning
from
somebody
else
is
unfortunate
mistake.
Fifty
percent
of
burglaries
are
during
the
day
when
people
are
at
work.
I
would
encourage
people
in
addition
to
the
news.
