Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee from June 3, 2021. For full meeting agenda visit https://bit.ly/3vOvOf9.
A
Your
new
madam
chair
and
committee
members
welcome
to
this
afternoon's
meeting.
We
are
just
about
to
get
started.
We
do
have
the
live
stream
on
currently,
madam
chair,
I'm
just
gonna
quickly
run
through
the
list
of
participants
we
have
with
us,
so
I
will
confirm
we
do
have
a
quorum
right
now.
All
committee
members
are
present,
except
for
glenn
griffis
and
megan
kerrigan,
who
sent
their
regrets
as
well.
A
So
with
us
today
we
have
colin
whittington
director
arts
and
culture
services,
jennifer
campbell
director
heritage
services,
jeff
rempel
manager,
realty
construction
projects,
andrea
laby
facilities,
operation
coordinator,
janet
janes,
deputy
city
clerk,
ian
sullivan,
who
is
our
host
this
afternoon,
our
interpreters,
renee
and
janice,
as
well
as
myself,
julia
mccarty,
jansmen
committee
clerk
for
mac,
as
well
as
sparos
canos,
director
facilities,
management
construction,
and
we
currently
have
no
members
of
the
public
with
us
at
this
time.
So,
madam
chair,
I
will
turn
it
over
to
you
to
start
the
meeting.
B
Wonderful,
thank
you.
So
much
julia
welcome
everyone
to
our
mac
meeting
for
june.
I
just
wanted
to
say
happy
national
accessibility
week
to
everyone,
and
I
also
want
to
let
everyone
know
that
june
is
deafblind
awareness
month.
So
just
wanted
to
share
that
with
you
all
in
case
you
hadn't
heard
of
that.
So
seeing
that
it
is
102,
we
will
bring
the
meeting
to
order
agenda
item.
2
is
approval
of
the
agenda,
so
does
anyone
have
any
additions
that
they
would
like
to
add
to
the
agenda
before
we
go
ahead
and
approve.
B
B
Okay,
so
moving
on
to
number
five
delegations,
I
do
not
see
that
we
have
any
delegations,
so
we
will
move
into
number
six,
which
is
briefings,
so
we
have
spiros
canelo's,
director
of
facilities,
management
and
construction
services
with
us
to
speak
to
the
committee
in
regard
to
the
facilities,
management
and
construction
services.
Mac
update.
C
All
right,
good
afternoon,
we'd
like
to
thank
the
committee
for
giving
us
this
opportunity
to
give
you
this
briefing
on
various
projects
and
initiatives
that
facilities,
management
and
construction
services
have
currently
underway,
and
some
of
the
projects
and
initiatives
that
will
be
coming
up
over
the
next
year
with
me
today
is
jeff
rempel
who's,
our
manager,
realty
construction
services
and
andrea
lebe.
Our
ops
coordinator,
that
all
three
of
us
would
be
happy
to
answer
any
questions
after
this
briefing
next
slide.
Please.
C
The
agenda
for
a
briefing
today
is:
we
will
highlight
2021
2022
construction
projects,
we'll
talk
briefly
about
two
future
construction
projects,
we'll
talk
about
some
continued
enhanced
maintenance
practices
and
some
training
that
we've
done
in
the
last
year,
which
has
been
limited
due
to
colbit
and
then,
of
course,
any
questions
or
comments.
Next
slide.
Please.
C
The
hype,
the
construction
project
highlights
that
we'll
briefly
go
over
today
is
work,
that's
happening
at
city
hall
and
there's
quite
a
bit
of
work
happening
at
city
hall.
There's
the
fire
protection
upgrades
the
next
phases
that
will
need
input
from
mac.
There's
a
restoration
of
the
exterior
front
fire
escape
stairs.
C
There's
a
market
street
ramp
repairs
and
way
finding
signage,
that's
going
to
be
happening
on
other
floors.
On
the
first
floor,
the
fleet
maintenance
garage,
the
east
end
community
center
kingston
fire
and
rescue
maintenance
garage,
the
grand
theater
renovations,
richardson
beach
house
and
some
other
upcoming
projects
next
slide.
Please.
C
In
city
hall,
we've
started
a
multi-year
project
of
upgrading
all
the
stand,
pipes
and
installing
sprinklers
throughout
the
building.
We've
also
upgraded
the
fire
panel
and
in
the
next
phase,
we're
going
to
proceed
with
the
installation
of
audible
and
visible
signaling
devices
that
we
will
be
requesting
the
committee
to
assign
a
member
to
assist
us
with
height
sound
levels,
a
proper.
You
know,
visual
signaling,
there's
an
also
another
major
project
that
will
have
a
temporary
impact
from
an
accessibility
point
of
view.
C
The
market
street
ramp
is
kind
of
it
is
a
bridge
when
you
go
into
city
hall
and
that
needs
structural
repairs
and
part
of
that.
Work
will
require
that
that
bridge
be
shut
down
for
about
two
to
three
months,
and
it's
going
to
be
late.
This
fall
of
this
year
that
this
work
happens
and
we're
currently
looking
at
alternative,
accessible
entrances
to
the
ground
floor.
C
During
this
anticipated
closure,
and
one
of
the
options
that's
being
considered
is
coming
through
the
market
wing
entrance
that
abuts
to
the
market
square
and
the
ice
rink
that,
amongst
many
other
options
that
we're
considering
and
we'll
we
will
be
requesting
a
committee.
The
committee
to
assign
a
member
to
assist
us
there's
no
currently
there's
no
plans
to
make
any
permanent
modifications
to
the
ramp.
That's
being
that's
having
the
structure
repairs
done
to
it
next
slide.
Please.
C
In
city
hall,
one
of
our
initial
projects
going
back
a
few
years,
was
enhancing
the
wayfinding
signage
that
we
work
with
with
a
committee
on
in
city
hall
on
the
first
floor.
So
now
we're
looking
at
continuing
with
the
next
phases,
which
is
signage
throughout
the
remaining
floors
and
exterior
of
city
hall,
we're
looking
at
tactile
lettering,
where
required
contrast,
lettering,
pictograms
and
braille
on
all
wall
mounted
signs
and
directories.
C
Next
sign,
please,
I
mean
next
slide,
please
thank
you.
The
fleet
maintenance
garage
is
well
well
underway
to
being
completed.
It's
slated
to
be
fully
completed
in
october
of
this
year
that
project
we
worked
with
the
committee
and
the
members
assigned
to
it
with
and
there's
detectable
warning
services
in
this
facility.
C
Please
the
east
end:
community
center
is
the
facility
side
of
the
building.
The
building
itself
will
be
completed
in
the
next
three
four
months
and
then
there's
a
significant
amount
of
solar
panels
being
placed
on
the
roof
and
carports,
and
the
facility
will
be
open
to
the
public
by
the
end
of
this
year.
C
In
this
facility,
there's
an
accessible
appliances
and
millwork
there's
a
universal
washroom
with
accessible
shower
and
auto
change
table,
there's
tactile
surfaces
to
delineate
the
running
track,
there's
contrasting
finishes
on
doors
and
wall,
floor
transitions
and
there's
also
door-less
entry
into
the
main
washroom
facilities
next
side.
Next
slide,
please
the
kingston
fire
and
rescue
maintenance
garage
it's
being
completed
in
about
two
weeks.
C
Some
features
of
this
facility
is
that
it
has
equitable
accommodations,
so
there's
multiple
washrooms
and
change
rooms,
there's
an
accessible
kitchenette
and
washroom
there's
an
accessible
door
hardware
and
light
switches,
there's
power,
door
operators
and
tactile
warning
services
and
there's
an
accessible
parking
lot.
An
entrance
sidewalk
next
slide.
Please.
C
C
The
richardson
beach
house
renovation,
that
work
is
anticipated
to
either
start
very
late
this
year
or
first
thing
in
the
spring
and
accessibility
enhancements
is
a
significant
part
of
the
scope
of
this
project.
So
it
will
be
fully.
It
will
have
fully
accessible
washrooms
and
changing
facilities
with
an
adult
change
table,
two
accessible
washroom
stalls
and
two
accessible
change
stalls,
they'll
em
they'll
be
increased
quarter
widths,
door-less
entry
and
contrasting
finishes
on
doors
and
wall
and
floor
transitions.
C
Some
other
up-and-coming
projects
there
will
be
renovations
to
memorial
hall
and
for
all
these
renovations
at
city
hall,
we'll
also
be
asking
a
mac
rep
to
assist
us.
The
renovations
to
memorial
hall
are
mostly
aesthetic
again
with
painting
of
the
walls
and
replacing
flooring.
C
Another
project
at
city
hall
is
to
install
a
graspable
handrail
to
be
installed
along
the
existing
wood
banister
of
the
main
staircases
at
city
hall
and
in
the
picture
there's
a
picture
of
the
stairwell
with
a
large
wooden
handrailing
and
we've
attempted
to
superimpose
the
brass.
Looking
handrailing
that
we're
proposing.
C
We're
also
looking
at
creating
a
new
public
works,
solid
waste
facility
at
creekford
road
and
we're
going
to
be
starting
that
design
over
in
the
next
six
months,
and
that
project
is
slated
to
be
started
in
a
few
years,
and
we
will
also
be
asking
for
a
representative
of
mac
to
assist
us
there
next
slide.
Please.
C
I'd
like
to
give
the
committee
an
update
with
respect
to
the
rick
hansen
foundation,
certifications,
the
rick
hansen
foundation.
Accessibility,
certification
is
a
tool
which
gives
organizations
a
snapshot
of
their
building's
accessibility
to
inform
future
accessibility
improvements
and
provides
third-party
validation.
C
Kingston
was
selected
as
an
eligible
municipality
and
we
submitted
applications
and
they
were
accepted
for
certifications
for
the
real
heights
community
center
and
the
east
end
community
center.
The
certification
is
valid
for
five
years
with
a
midway
check
check-in
to
review
any
upgrades
or
improvements
done,
or
that
need
to
improve
to
be
done
to
improve
accessibility.
C
Next
slide,
please:
staff
training
this
year,
our
staff
training
program
last
year
and
also
this
year
was
was
reduced
due
to
clovid,
our
administrative
assistant
underwent
accessible
documents,
training
and
various
topics
were
covered,
we're
hoping
to
ramp
up
again
our
learning
and
development
opportunities
in
the
third
and
fourth
quarter,
depending
how
coveted
restrictions
impact
this
training
next
slide.
Please.
B
I
just
wanted
to
mention
that
I'm
very
happy
and
thankful
to
see
emphasis
on
color
contrast
and
different
flooring
and
making
sure
stairs
and
everything
are
high
contrast
and
of
good
materials
to
use.
So
it's
really
exciting
to
see
some
of
those
projects
like
the
grand
theater
and
city
hall
being
worked
on.
B
D
Penny
I'm
wondering
about
the
ground
theater.
Does
it
have
hearing
aid
accessible
technology
for
people
that
are
viewing
anything,
that's
happening
there
or
listening
to
it
or
whatever.
C
I'll
ask
I'll
turn
that
question
over
to
colin
wiggington
he's
works
with
the
operations
side
of
the
grand
theater
colin.
Would
you
be
able
to
answer
that
question.
E
Thank
you,
spearows
and
through
you,
madam
chair,
we
do
have
a
hearing
assistive
system
in
place
at
the
grand
theater
patrons
when
they
come
to
a
performance,
are
able
to
request
those
to
use
during
a
show
and
they
are
returned.
We
are
looking
at
other
options
for
future
developments
to
improve
that
system
as
well.
F
F
Aside
from
the
the
back
row
of
the
theater,
whether
there's
I
think
there
may
be
potential
for
a
seat
or
two
in
different
areas
of
the
theater.
I
know
that's
a
complicated
project,
but
I
wondered
whether
there
was
future
considerations
regarding.
E
That
thank
you
for
the
question
and
through
you,
madam
chair,
that
is
an
issue
that
we
are
actively
looking
at.
We
have
been
giving
consideration
to
that
in
light
of
recent
performances.
We've
had
with
asl
interpretation
in
terms
of
the
location
of
dedicated
seating
for
people
who
need
to
be
in
a
good
viewing
range
of
the
asl
interpretation.
E
It's
also
been
flagged
for
us
that
people
with
low
vision
may
require
dedicated
seating
area,
so
we're
considering
that
and
and
to
your
point.
We
also
recognize
that
it's
less
than
ideal
to
just
have
accessible
seating
in
that
last
row.
So
that
is
something
that
we're
giving
consideration
to
as
well.
G
Thank
you
just
very
quickly,
I'm
just
curious.
I
I
know
that
whenever
there's
facility
enhancements
or
work
being
done,
it
comes
through
this
committee
and
we
have
people
assigned
and
that's
a
great
program.
I'm
just
curious.
G
Is
there
every
so
many
years
an
opportunity
to
look
at
at
facilities
that
perhaps
haven't
gone
through
any
major
renovations
or
that
I
was
thinking
of
the
grand
theater?
If
we
go
several
years
without
anything
happening
at
the
grand
theater,
does
the
committee
still
have
some
input
on
that?
So
that's
probably
a
question
for
sparrows.
I
don't
think
thank
you.
C
Thank
you
through
madam
chair.
Yes,
there
is
when
we
do
our
regular
our
asset
management
plans,
planning
and
even
just
a
day-to-day
operations
and
maintenance,
we're
always
looking
at
ways
that
we
can
enhance
accessibility
and
also
look
at
sustainability
of
reducing
our
greenhouse
gas
emissions.
C
So
if
we
do
a
project,
for
example,
at
the
grand
theater
right
now,
we're
looking
at
some
areas
that
were
identified
with
low
lighting
levels,
we're
looking
at
those
low
light
level,
low
lighting
levels
from
an
accessibility
point
of
view,
but
also
we're
incorporating
the
energy
efficiency
side
and
the
same
thing
that
we
do
is
if
we're
increasing
looking
at
light
fixtures,
for
example,
from
an
energy
efficiency
point
of
view.
We
also
look
take
that
opportunity
if
there's
an
identified
issue
from
low
light
levels
from
an
accessibility
point
of
view.
C
H
Dorothean
hi,
just
a
quick
question
about
the
east
end
city
center.
I
saw
that
you
have
plans
for
adult
change
tables
in
the
sort
of
universal
change
room,
but
you
said
there
was
just
one
of
those
I'm
wondering:
do
you
have
adult
change
tables
planned
for
the
other
washrooms
as
well,
a
changing
area
for
them
in
the
women's
amends.
I
H
I
B
C
B
E
Thank
you
julia
and
I
do
have
a
presentation
that
julia's
bringing
up,
because
this
is
accessible
awareness
week
and
and
glad
that
it
is
and
and
thank
you
for
flagging,
deaf
blind
awareness
awareness
month.
I
was
not
aware
of
that.
So
I
appreciate
that
education
and
also
because
june,
also
marks
indigenous
peoples
month
as
well
as
pride
month.
I
will
be
as
accessible
as
possible
by
starting
with
saying
that
I
identify
by
the
pronouns
he
him.
E
So
today,
I'm
here
on
behalf
of
cultural
services,
but
I'm
also
joined
by
my
colleague,
jennifer
campbell,
because
one
of
the
first
things
that
we'll
be
speaking
about
today
is
a
recent
restructuring
of
our
department,
and
some
of
you
may
be
familiar
with
jennifer
campbell
who's
been
with
the
city
now
since
2016
in
the
role
of
manager,
cultural
heritage
and
as
of
may
10th,
she
is
now
the
director
of
heritage
services,
and
I
will
explain
that
a
bit
more
in
just
a
moment.
So
if
I
could
have
the
next
slide,
please.
E
Next
slide,
please
so,
for
those
of
you,
who've
been
on
the
committee
for
a
while
and
are
familiar
with
what
was
cultural
services
within
that
department.
We
had
two
main
streams
that
we
focused
on.
One
was
heritage
and
one
was
arts
and
in
both
of
those
streams
we
had
four
core
service
areas:
asset
management,
programming,
sector
development
and
cultural
development.
E
Next
slide,
please,
in
connection
with
this
restructuring
that
has
just
happened
that
has
been
shared
with
council
and
and
promoted
publicly
jennifer
campbell,
now
heads
up
a
department
called
heritage
services,
and
what
that
means
is
that
she
now
oversees
what
she
already
had
responsibility
for
in
terms
of
heritage,
programming,
museums
operations
and
collections
and
also
indigenous
initiatives.
But
in
this
restructuring,
jennifer
is
also
now
responsible
for
the
built
heritage
portfolio,
so
she
is
now
working
much
more
closely
with
the
planning
department
and
the
heritage
planners.
E
What
that
means
for
cultural
services
is
the
department
has
been
now
refocused
primarily
on
all
arts
and
culture,
so
cultural
services
is
now
referred
to
as
arts
and
culture
services
and
in
many
ways
we're
continuing
to
do
much
of
the
same
programming
that
we
did
previously
so
very
much.
A
focus
on
arts
programs,
sector
development
and
cultural
development,
and
also
more
focus
on
asset
management,
particularly
related
to
public
art.
Next
slide,
please.
E
I
will
note
that
in
relation
to
the
grand
theater
and
the
information
that
sparrows
canelos
was
sharing
just
previously,
the
work
that's
being
done
at
this
time
is
not
major
in
the
sense
of
renovations.
It
is
aesthetics,
mostly
as
sparrows
canelos
is
referenced,
and
it's
actually
tied
to
planned
rebrand
of
the
grand
theater
that
was
meant
to
be
rolled
out
prior
to
the
pandemic,
but
has
been
put
on
hold
temporarily
until
that
facility
can
be
opened
next.
H
E
Please
again,
just
in
terms
of
understanding
the
division,
we
are
jointly
responsible,
jennifer
and
I
for
aspects
of
the
civic
collection
that
the
city
manages
on
the
heritage
side.
It's
more
obviously
things
like
public
monuments
and
statuary.
E
Park
and
jen's
doing
significant
work
right
now,
not
around
the
physical
aspects
of
the
sir
johnny
mcdonald
monument
in
city
park,
but
in
relation
to
its
interpretation
and
understanding
in
a
21st
century
context,
particularly
in
relation
to
indigenous
issues,
and
in
that
regard,
jennifer
is
leading
sir
john,
a
macdonald
history
and
legacy
working
group.
That's
actively
meeting
at
this
time
to
look
at
how
this
monument
should
be
repositioned
and
how
it
should
be
interpreted.
E
Given
what
we
know
about
his
history
and
impact
in
the
canadian
context.
On
the
art
side
myself
and
my
colleague,
danica
lahey,
with
the
support
of
jennifer
and
her
team,
are
responsible
for
public
art
and
one
of
the
more
famous
being
time
in
breakwater
park
and
on
this
slide
as
well,
is
an
image
of
a
new
work.
E
So
it
was
really
only
in
the
fall
that
we
were
able
to
start
bringing
staff
back
and
restarting
our
work.
So
within
that
context
the
mclaughlin
woodworking
museum
was
closed
and
continues
to
be
closed.
Due
to
the
pandemic,
the
pump
house
museum
has
opened
and
closed
a
couple
of
times
based
on
public
health
guidelines,
but
we've
worked
very
hard
to
try
and
keep
it
present
programming
in
the
public's
mind
and
the
grand
theater.
Certainly
the
main
space
has
closed,
but
we
have,
on
occasion
been
able
to
open
the
baby
grant
for
community
rentals
and.
E
Of
our
programming
has
either
been
cancelled
or
offered
in
alternative
ways,
which
has
been
a
challenge
for
us
for
sure.
Next
slide,
please
in
terms
of
the
multi-year
accessibility
plan,
I
wanted
to
provide
quick
updates
on
the
work
that
we've
been
committing
to
within
that
context.
Some
of
this
will
seem
very
familiar.
E
We
haven't
made
huge
progress
because
of
the
pandemic,
but
did
want
to
highlight
a
few
things,
including
the
fact
that
all
of
our
service
level
agreements
with
the
partner
organizations
we
work
with,
like
the
kingston
arts,
council,
the
kingston
association
of
museums
and
the
kingston
theater
alliance-
are
all
required
to
adhere
to
the
aoda
as
part
of
their
work,
that's
funded
by
the
city.
Next
slide,
please,
with
all
the
closures
that
have
happened.
E
Certainly,
our
ability
to
offer
programming-
that's
fee-based
has
been
limited
and,
as
I've
reported
with
this
group
before,
we
have
been
actively
developing
discount
programs
for
people
to
be
able
to
access
what
we
offer
and
what's
been
interesting
as
a
result
of
covet
19,
is
that
the
shift
to
more
online
delivery
has
actually
increased
accessibility
with
much
of
the
program
being
free
or
accessible
through
platforms
such
as
youtube
and
others.
Next
slide,
please.
E
There
is
a
slide
here
from
one
of
our
presentations,
john
and
waleed,
and
if
the
clerk
has
provided
you
with
this
presentation
already
or
can
provide
you
with
this
presentation,
there
are
embedded
links
in
this
document.
If
you'd
like
to
have
a
look
at
the
kind
of
programming
that
we've
been
able
to
offer,
we've
had
good
uptake
on
those
virtual
offerings
and
they've
also
often
been
able
to
be
provided
with
the
support
of
closed
captioning
to
create
increased
accessibility.
E
The
mayor's
arts
awards
also
went
online
for
the
first
time
this
year.
It's
usually
an
in-person
event
at
city
hall
and
was
broadcast
on
youtube
earlier
this
year
and
there's
a
slide
screen
shot
here,
showing
that
that
event
we
had
the
opportunity
for
not
only
closed
captioning
or,
I
should
say,
open
captioning,
but
also
asl
interpretations
so
again,
trying
to
create
opportunities
for
accessibility,
even
as
we've
gone
online.
Next
slide,
please.
E
E
If
you
want
to
ask
questions,
please
do
so
a
big
project
that
we
completed
in
2020
2021
is
the
renovation
to
the
market
wing
in
city
hall.
There's
an
image
on
the
slide
of
the
new
installation
there.
This
was
actually
formerly
the
offices
of
cultural
services
that
has
now
been
opened
up
with
the
support
of
the
facilities
group
and
transformed
into
a
cultural
space
for
exhibitions
and
programs.
E
Unfortunately,
due
to
the
pandemic,
we've
had
very
limited
opportunities
to
open
that
space,
but
it
hopefully
will
return
to
public
hours
later
in
the
summer.
In
alignment
with
what
the
provincial
guidelines
allow
and
like
with
any
of
our
exhibitions,
we
have
worked
hard
to
include
both
english
and
french
and
to
make
the
text
and
content
available
in
other
formats
as
needed.
Next
slide.
E
Please,
and
on
that
point
and
we've
reported
on
this
before
jennifer
and
her
team
have
been
working
on
various
initiatives
to
improve
accessibility
with
heritage,
related
exhibitions
and
programs,
some
of
which
are
identified
here
on
the
slide.
Our
partnership
with
the
cnib
is
currently
on
hold,
but
it's
one
that
we
would
hope
to
return
to
as
circumstances
allow
next
slide.
E
Please
and
again,
just
reminding
the
group
and
you've
seen
this
slide
before
about
the
work
we've
done
to
improve
the
accessibility
information
on
our
facility
websites,
both
in
terms
of
visiting
the
facilities
but
also
in
relation
to
programming
and
the
creation
of
virtual
tours
next
slide.
Please,
and
in
spite
of
the
pandemic,
we
have
been
working
on
the
delivery
of
some
of
our
long-standing
public
art
programs
or
projects.
So,
as
I
previously
mentioned,
we
will
be
unveiling
shortly.
E
The
alderville
first
nation
commemoration
project
in
lake
ontario
park
this
week,
we've
just
installed
a
new
work
in
victoria
park
and
my
colleague
danica
lahi,
just
previously
worked
with
members
of
this
committee
and
I
believe,
caitlin
and
leah
on
some
of
the
issues
around
on-site
signage
many
delays,
but
that
signage
is
going
in,
and
I
know
that
danica
is
looking
forward
to
being
able
to
resume
collaboration
with
the
public
art
project
team
from
mac,
as
we
continue
to
evolve
the
public
art
portfolio
next
slide.
E
Please
again,
you've
seen
this
before
just
making
you
aware
again
that
interesting
how
accessibility
initiatives
like
the
online
tour
of
city
hall
has
found
new
life
as
a
result
of
the
covert
19
pandemic.
E
It
is
something
that's
readily
available
through
the
city
website
and
can
offer
an
experience
of
the
building,
even
while
it's
closed,
and
I
also
wanted
to
highlight-
and
I
think
this
has
been
mentioned
before-
that
when
our
facilities
like
the
pump
house
are
open,
we've
also
been
adding
elements
such
as
social
stories
and
sensory
friendly
maps
in
relation
to
the
facility
to
help
people
with
planning
for
their
visits.
Next
slide,
please
quickly.
E
The
last
couple
of
points
that
I
wanted
to
touch
on
are
two
items
that
are
holdovers
from
the
2015-2018
plan:
removal
of
the
removal
of
barriers-
one
is
the
city
funding
program
for
arts
and
heritage.
E
Next
slide,
please-
and
this
is
the
final
major
slide
previous
to
this
meeting-
I've
provided
updates
about
a
project
that
we've
been
working
on,
which
is
to
look
at
excel
accessibility
issues
related
to
the
performance
bases
of
the
grand
theater,
leah,
riddell
and
and
chloe
godin
jakes,
who
was
formerly
part
of
this
committee,
have
been
working
with
us
on
that
leah
may
be
thinking.
Oh,
that
was
a
long
time
ago.
We
did
meet
with
her
back
in
august,
along
with
some
other
stakeholders
to
gather
information.
E
Again.
This
is
a
project,
that's
been
impacted
by
a
covert
19,
but
we
are
moving
towards
the
final
stages
of
developing
some
conceptual
plans
that
look
at
how
we
can
make
both
the
main
stage
and
the
regina
rosen
auditorium,
as
well
as
the
babygram
black
box
base
more
readily
accessible,
particularly
for
performers
and
that's
in
relation
to
backstage
spaces.
I
will.
E
To
be
challenging
because
the
grand
theater
is
a
19th
century
facility
and
also
has
a
very
finite
footprint
that
it
sits
on,
but
we've
been
working
with
plus
vg
architects,
along
with
designable
environments,
to
look
at
what
might
be
possible,
and
I
look
forward
to
being
able
to
provide
more
in-depth
information
about
that
at
a
future
date
as
this
work
gets
completed.
So
last
slide
is
questions
and
discussions,
and
so
jennifer
and
I
are
both
happy
to
answer.
B
J
Sorry,
interpreters
mark
was
off
apologies
for
the
heritage
piece
on
the
accessibility
and
the
video
that's
been
added
to
that.
That's
been
great
and
the
idea
of
an
asl
piece
being
added
for
the
resources
for
requesting
the
the
lettering
and
the
words.
Do
you
have
a
qr
code
available
that
we
might
be
able
to
include
for
asl
provision
of
the
same
information
for
the
historical
and
heritage
pieces.
K
Thank
you,
and,
and
through
you,
madam
chair,
we
we
have
used
historically
qr
codes
as
part
of
our
interpretive
elements.
We
had
moved
away
from
them
as
they
had
fallen
somewhat
out
of
out
of
common
use,
but
we
do
see
that
they're
being
used
to
gain.
So
that's
certainly
something
that
I'm
happy
to
bring
back
to
the
team
and
include
in
our
discussions
about
the
future
installations
and
offer
opportunities
to
update
them.
K
We
did
include
a
qr
code
for
the
market
wing
cultural
space
as
part
of
the
the
signage
associated
with
so
to
help
with
that
exact
conversation.
So
we
are
back
into
that
discussion
about
using
qr
codes
and
moving
forward,
we're
certainly
exploring
and
hoping
to
incorporate
that
when
we
so.
Thank
you.
G
A
couple
questions
and
it'll
be
deja
vu
because
I
understand
I
have
an
arts
advisory
committee
meeting
next
week.
So
I'll
probably
bring
this
up
again,
but
I
know
increasingly,
for
instance,
hockey
and
montreal
hockey
and
winnipeg
they
were.
G
They
created
a
system
through
public
health
whereby
people
who
were
fully
vaccinated
had
access
to
that
have
you
explored
with,
with
with
kfla
public
health.
The
opportunity,
perhaps,
as
more
and
more
of
us,
get
vaccinated
to
encourage
live
performances
with
proof
of
vaccination.
E
Thank
you
for
the
question
counselor,
neil
and
through
you,
madam
chair.
Certainly
we
are
in
regular
contact
with
all
of
our
colleagues
across
various
performing
arts
groups
and
and
organizations,
we're
certainly
tracking
those
kinds
of
discussions.
E
Obviously,
at
this
point,
counselor
neil
we're
not
seeing
any
direction
from
the
provincial
government
regarding
the
double
vaccination
and
what
that
means
for
access.
That's
certainly
something
that
appears
to
be
emerging
as
a
potential
requirement.
E
So
I
would
suspect-
and
it's
being
shared
with
me-
that
the
hope
is
that
there
might
be
some
sort
of
formula
situation
that
gets
devised
that
accounts
for
the
number
of
people
allowable
within
a
space
given
its
square
footage
or
number
of
seats,
and
I
would
anticipate
that
any
criteria
that
gets
developed
in
conjunction
with
that
would
identify
other
requirements
such
as
physical
distancing,
mask
wearing
and
vaccination
thresholds.
So
definitely
are
tracking
that
information
and
hope
to
be
able
to
see
some
progress
on
that.
In
the
coming
months,
great.
G
I
appreciate
that
I've
been
watching
soul.
Peppers
around
the
world
in
80
plays
series
which
I
thought
was
really
really
creative
and
perhaps
there's
an
opportunity
when
we
get
back
to
performances
even
in
the
baby
grand
to
give
them
an
opportunity
to
to
videotape
and
make
it
available.
E
We
are,
we
are
developing
the
streaming
capacity,
as
I
mentioned
in
our
presentation.
The
virtual
ground
on
stage
is
something
we've
been
able
to
present
working
in
partnership
with
viva
production,
so
obviously
being
broadcast
online
and
we're
just
awaiting.
We
did
receive
a
grant
to
outfit
the
grand
theater
with
the
equipment
required
for
live
streaming.
So
we
anticipate
that.
Not
only
will
that
be
something
that
helps
us
continue
to
deliver
content
during
the
pandemic,
but
will
likely
become
a
facet
of
live
performance,
presentation
going
forward.
B
A
B
B
B
C
B
Okay,
so
moving
along
to
item
c
project
team
appointments,
we
have
one
project
team
appointment.
Penny
leclair
has
agreed
to
take
part
in
the
crawford
wharf
benches.
L
Good
morning,
good
afternoon,
everyone
hope
you're
doing
well.
Excuse
me,
so
we
are
about
halfway
through
our
work
plan,
which
has
brought
us
to
to
june.
As
you
know,
we
will
be
taking
a
break
over
the
summer
months
coming
into
the
fall
in
september.
We
have
another
a
number
of
items
coming
up
from
from
myself,
so
you
will
be
expecting
the
accessibility
office
report
for
q2.
At
that
time.
L
I
also
have
planned
the
multi-year
accessibility
plan
year-end
report,
and
you
will
also
expect
to
receive
the
built
environment,
working
group
and
awareness
and
education,
working
group
and
staff
will
be
will
be
beginning
to
or
will
be
underway
with
plans
for
disabilities
mentoring
day,
which
will
be
happening
in
october.
So
we
are.
We
are
well
on
track
with
the
work
plan
that
the,
but
that
the
community
has
has
set
out,
as
as
was
mentioned
at
the
beginning
of
this
meeting
by
madam
chair.
L
Excuse
me:
this
is
national
accessibility.
Awareness
week
we
have
a
number
of
items
that
are
planned.
There
was
a
news
release
that
went
out
earlier
in
the
week.
We
did
have
to
sort
of
shift
gears
with
our
plans
because
of
the
because
of
the
shutdown
with
the
pandemic,
but
we
did
prepare
two
videos
featuring
kingston
assets,
their
their
animated
videos
with
with
voiceover
and
picture-in-picture
asl
interpretation.
L
The
response
from
from
our
staff,
colleagues
and
members
of
the
public
has
been
has
been
favorable,
which
is,
is
nice
to
hear
and
I'm
happy
to
take
any
questions
that
you
have.
Thank
you.
B
Questions.
Okay,
thank
you
julia!
Do
we
need
to
vote
on
this,
or
are
we
okay
to
move
on
to
motions
we
can
move
on
to
motions
okay,
so
moving
on
to
number
eight
motions,
seeing
none
number
nine
notices
of
motion
also
seeing
none
10
other
business?
Does
anyone
have
any
other
business
they
want
to
bring
forth
to
the
committee.
