From YouTube: Setting Up Course Reserves
Description
How to set up Course Reserves in Koha.
A
Hi,
my
name
is
Kelly
mikela,
Don
and
I'm.
One
of
the
educators
here
with
Vai
water
solutions
and
I
have
a
short
tutorial
on
how
to
set
up
your
course
reserves
in
koha.
The
purpose,
of
course,
reserves
allows
you
to
temporarily
move
items
to
reserve
and
then
assign
them
different
circulation
rules
to
those
items
while
they
are
being
used
for
a
specific
course.
So
if
you
don't
actually
see
this
course
reserve
module
on
your
koha,
then
we
wouldn't
need
to
activate
it
through
our
system
preferences.
A
So
you
would
just
go
up
to
your
Moore
and
go
to
administration.
This
is
a
global
system
preference,
so
you
can
search
your
global
system,
preference
and
just
under
course
reserve
and
it's
a
simple,
enable
use
or
don't
use.
So
if
you
currently
have
it
don't
use
you
can
hit
use
and
then
you
would
save
that
circulation
preference
mine
is
currently
already
set
up.
A
Another
thing
that
you
will
have
to
keep
in
mind
is
that
any
instructors
that
you'd
like
to
assign
to
a
course
reserve
need
to
be
a
patron
in
your
system,
so
we're
gonna
go
through
just
a
few
of
the
steps.
Another
thing
that
you
would
need
to
do
is
make
sure
that
you
have
some
Department
set
up
in
your
authorized
values,
so
I'm
going
to
show
you
how
to
do
that
once
again.
A
Authorize
values
is
also
found
in
the
koha
Administration,
as
you
can
see
I'm
using
this
Koho
administration,
but
you
can
also
get
there
from
that
more
under
your
basic
parameters.
Here's
your
authorized
values
now
to
set
up
departments
for
your
course
reserves
module.
You
can
bring
this
drop
down
menu
under
show
category,
and
here
it
is
under
department,
as
you
can
see,
I
have
a
few
departments
already
set
up
in
my
cohost
'm.
I
have
one
for
history.
A
I've
one
for
computer
science,
I
have
one
for
Humanities
library,
science
and
mathematics,
but
we're
gonna
go
ahead
and
create
one
just
to
let
you
know
what
it
looks
like
I'm
going
to
click
new
authorized
value
for
Department,
remember
authorized
value
they
shouldn't
have
any
spaces
or
unusual
characters.
It
would
just
be
your
standard,
ten
letters
or
less
here.
A
If
you
wanted
to
be
described
differently
in
Euro
pack,
you
could
go
ahead
and
do
that
so
I'm
going
to
keep
it
the
same
and
what
libraries
that
that
would
be.
That
course
reserves.
It
is
valid
for
if
all
libraries
didn't
even
go
ahead
and
hit
all
and
then
you
would
go
ahead
and
hit
save,
and
that
adds
your
department
into
for
your
course
reserves.
A
A
A
If
you
wanted
to
put
a
section,
you
could
go
ahead
and
do
that
with
the
course
reserve,
as
with
a
lot
of
things
in
our
koha,
if
they
are
read,
they
are
required,
so
section
is
not
required.
I
have
a
course
name,
so
I
can
do
Irish
history
and
then
here
I
could
pick
a
term
if
I
wanted
to
say
that
this
was
specific
to
fall.
A
A
We're
gonna
go
ahead
and
create
we're
gonna
put
Brenda
Gallagher
in
there
as
the
instructor.
Now
here
you
can
add
a
staff
note
or
a
public
note
to
this
course
create
this
whole
course.
So
this
would
be
a
note
that
was
valid
for
the
entire
course,
not
specifically
to
any
items
that
you're
attaching
to
this,
or
course
reserve
of
course,
reserve.
If
you
wanted
to
put
any
notes
here,
you
could
do
that
in
the
number
of
students.
A
Now
this
enables
button
is
really
important
because
you
can
always,
if
you
know
our
professor
is
going
to
do
this
class
in
the
spring
and
then
it
will
come
back
in
the
fall
you
can
enable
it
in
the
spring,
then
you
can
disable
it
until
that
fall
semester
and
then
enable
it
again
and
save
so
now.
We've
created
the
actual
course
in
Koha,
and
now
what
our
next
step
would
be
is
to
add
the
items
that
the
professor
is
asked
to
add
as
a
course
reserve.
A
The
barcode
is
here
now.
This
is
really
important,
because
the
purpose
of
course
reserves
is
to
change,
possibly
the
circulation
rules
for
these
items
during
the
time
that
they
are
on
course
reserves.
So
if
you
did
have
an
item
type
for
reserve,
you
would
go
ahead
and
say:
that's
the
the
ident
I
PI
wanted
to
do
it.
I
have
a
few
item:
type
reserves,
I
have
the
one-hour
reserve
or
a
3-hour
reserve,
created
in
my
system.
Now.
This
is
something
that
you
would
need
to
either
create.
A
If
you
didn't
already
have
or
and/or
add
these
item
types
to
your
circulation
and
find
rules.
Okay,
so
I'm
gonna
go
ahead
and
say
this
is
a
3-hour
reserve.
If
I
wanted
to
change
that
collection
code
in
the
system-
for
this
course,
I
can
do
that
here.
I'm
actually
gonna
change
the
shelving
location,
because
this
book
is
actually
in
our
nonfiction
adult.
A
However
I'd
like
the
circulation
desk,
to
know
that
this
is
in
the
course
reserve
area,
while
it's
on
course
reserve
and
if
I
wanted
to
say
that
the
library
was
changing,
the
holding
library
moved
from
one
area
to
another.
I
could
do
that.
If
I
leave
anything
unchanged,
it
will
say
exactly
how
it
was
in
the
system
prior
to
being
put
on
course
reserves.
A
Now.
This
is
very
important.
You
can
add
a
staff
note
or
a
public
note
to
this
specific
item.
Now.
This
public
note
would
show
up
on
the
OPAC
for
your
students
to
see
if
you
did
already
have
a
public
note
specific
to
this
book
prior
to
me
and
put
on
course,
reserves
that
would
show
up
unless
you
put
a
public
note
here,
and
this
would
supersede
that
we're
gonna
go
ahead
and
save
us
now.
If
you
had
to
add
more
items,
you
could
go
and
keep
on
scanning
those
in
okay.
A
A
A
A
This
is
the
one
I
created
today,
but
I
did
want
to
show
you
a
couple
different
items
in
this.
Second
one
of
the
same
Irish
history.
Now
there
are
a
few
more
columns
here
that
your
students
can
see.
You
can
see
the
the
author
of
the
title
of
the
item,
the
item
type,
how
long
that
they
have
it
for
where
it's
located
as
well
as,
if
there's
any
note
so
here
how
the
Irish
saved
civilization.
You
can
see
there's
a
note
that
this
is
not
to
leave
the
library.
A
A
So
you
can
see
here
what
your
students
would
see
now.
I
did
want
to
show
you
how
to
add
that
link
to
your
items,
if
you
would
like
to
for
any
professors
requirements
on
their
items.
I'm
gonna
go
back
over
to
the
staff
client.
Now
that
we've
set
up
a
course
reserves,
you
can
see
that
there
are
new
enhancements
to
course,
reserves
as
well
as
other
avenues.
