00:27:20 Mark Messenger: yes please
00:28:36 Mark Messenger: what kind of label printer do you use?
00:29:13 Mark Messenger: that's what I use lol
00:41:35 Heather Hernandez (she/her): My favorite bug! Please read, comment, vote, support!! https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=21472 (it's the one about getting linking working in linking entry fields, a.k.a. 76X-78X USMARC fields)

00:44:52 Mark Messenger: How do you all handle authorities in Koha? particularly when importing marc records...
00:45:06 Mark Messenger: i see
00:46:41 Fred King: Heather, you have much nicer dreams than I do.
00:46:42 Jane Cothron: How do you handle duplicate authority records?
00:46:52 Mark Messenger: I've been linking manually (use the button in basic editor) as needed... I key in and I also use Koha's built in import
00:47:58 Miranda Nero (OSL): Hi all - first time here, so I wanted to introduce myself! My name is Miranda Nero. I'm the Head of Cataloging for Ocean State Libraries, the public library consortium in Rhode Island. We're currently migrating to Koha from Sierra and are set to go live at the end of May. I haven't gotten to see too much of the cataloging side of Koha, so I'm looking forward to picking up what I can from you all! Seems like a fun group so far :)
00:47:59 Jane Cothron: I've been running into the 50 page problem with alphabetic lists of records when merging. After the first 50 pages, the records no longer list alphabetically.
00:48:45 Miranda Nero (OSL): Ha!
00:49:37 Fred King: Yeah, that's right. Blame it on someone else. :-)
00:50:21 Jane Cothron: We had multiple libraries and ended up importing multiple sets of authority records. I am still merging the records.
00:50:34 dptownsend: Hi Darlene Townsend from University of North Alabama. I've attended a few times just to listen. We've been on Koha since 2020. I'm really interested in talking to others, especially from academic libraries, about using authorities in Koha.
00:50:41 Jane Cothron: Ah--that sounds like a re-indexing job.
00:51:30 Fred King: A computer is logical but not reasonable. --Isaac Asimov (paraphrased)
00:52:03 Jane Cothron: Full employment for catalogers.
00:52:13 Heather Hernandez (she/her): Hah!! Yes!!
00:52:16 Miranda Nero (OSL): My entire job could be just authority work!
00:53:06 Mark Messenger: what's the link for the email list?
00:53:13 Jane Cothron: Really? When I import authority records, all the numbers are--or, at least were--the same for all records in that batch.
00:55:03 Heather Hernandez (she/her): The link to our Google Group is on the Koha-US Special Interest Groups page: https://koha-us.org/special-interest-groups/ under "Workspace," https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IUF_GpWSOw3k2_wehCqZfKbQLwfSFlyl
00:55:26 Miranda Nero (OSL): Our authority vendor told us to prepare for Koha matching authority records on 010 not 001, is that true?
00:55:31 Heather Hernandez (she/her): If you need help joining, email info@koha-us.org
00:56:33 Mark Messenger: Thanks!
01:03:44 Heather Hernandez (she/her): Oh--this is our CatSIG Google Group: https://groups.google.com/a/koha-us.org/g/cataloging
01:05:14 Miranda Nero (OSL): We use Backstage Library Works sending ~5000 bib records a month for authority processing
01:06:47 Fred King: We get most of our books from Rittenhouse. Catalog records are available for download, but I use OCLC because I can usually find better records there.
01:08:26 Fred King: Hooray for kludges!
01:08:36 Miranda Nero (OSL): We do a LOT of global updates for authority work, so this is sounding like I'm going to be using MarcEdit a lot more
