It's that time again. Wait, what? You didn't know? If only you had a calendar. Oh, yeah!!! Today's episode IS about calendars. How about that?? Christopher and George show how they went from a general discussion in a slack channel with their friend Andrew to two different takes on incorporating upcoming closure dates from the Koha calendar into the main Koha staff page. And there is even a little side tip in the middle about pulling report results into your jQuery. All I can say is, it's about time.

one
I
feel
like
koha
is
a
little
bit
lacking
with
with
calendars,
there's
just
not
a
lot
that
we're
taking
advantage
of
with
the
calendars
I
right
now
we
can
plug
things
into
the
calendars,
but
it's
it's!

play
with
this
and
and
try
and
do
something
on
the
the
OPEC
side
for
for
patrons
to
see
at
some
point.
But
for
now
you
know
this
is
a
good
stepping
off
point
and
let
me
go
ahead

show
you
what
we've
done

things

that
you

it's
looking
at
the
calendars,
but
it's

asking
what
branch
that
you
want
to
look
at
and
when
you
run
the
report,
you'll
get
the
upcoming
information
here
and
so
I
have
this
report.

I'll
add
my
flavor
of
this
to
it,
but
my
flavor
breaks
this
down
a
little
bit
his
takes
this
information
and
throws
it
in
a
table
which
is
great
and
I
believe
that's
what
you're
doing,
but
I
I
wanted
this
to
to
look
a
little
more
polished
and
fit
the
area
that
I
was
putting
it
in
and
be
a
little
bit
more
concise,
so
I
took
it.
I
took
out
the
table
elements
of
this
and
basically
got
it
to
extrapolate.

information
piece
by
piece
and

have
placed
it
in
specific
places,

I'm,
using
each
visual
element,
rather
than
just
an
entire
table

using
the
elements
and
formatting
them
to

look
pretty
on
our

So
this
jQuery
is
a
little
bit
longer
than
what
he
has,
but
basically
it's
grabbing
the
information
with
the
get
Jason
and
then
for
each
of
those
pieces
of
information.
It's
it's
formatting
the
dates
and
it
is
placing
the
closure
data
in
the
right
places.

you

formatting
it
within
divs,
so
that
it
looks
pretty
much
like
this
I've
formatted
it
to
match
the
different.
The
other
elements
that
we
have
up
in
this
side
panel,
so
that
so
that
it
kind
of
fits
in
with
it.
It
doesn't.
You
know
it
doesn't
screen
mode.
This
is
something
just
thrown
in
there
and
I
I
like
the
the
layout
and
the
formatting.

lot
I've
had
good
response
from
it
and
the
only
thing
that
I
don't
like
about
this
and
I
am
noticing
well.

As
you
can
see
here
on
the
page
now,
I
have
all
four
holidays
on
here,
and
the
problem
that
we
ran
into
is
that
at
some
point
in
Co-op
a
cohab
updated
the
reporting
so
that,
if
you
used
a
parameter
within
your
report
multiple
times,
it
would
only
ask
for
it
once
rather
than
multiple
times,
which
was
a
really
great
enhancement
for
report.
Writing.
So
I
had
this
parameter.

Looking
at
the
branch
asking
for
the
branch,
but
it's
asking
for
the
branch
about
seven
different
times
within
the
report.
I
only
ask
for
it
once
when
you
run
the
report,
but
it
is
calling
that
parameter
seven
different
times
and
what's
happening
is
in
the
jQuery.
Let's
get
Json
is
using
a
module,
that's
streamlined
for
get
Json.
That
is
not
the
same
as
the
module
that
you
run
actually
run
reports
from
you're
using
guidedreports.pl
here,
you're
just
using
module
that
doesn't
even
have
a
tag.

And
call
for
the
information
you
can
see
that
the
parameter
is
only
specified
once
up
here
in
the
URL,
but
this
module
in
jQuery
doesn't
like
that
and
that's
why
I
was
missing
some
events
in
my
report,
because
I
was
only
entering
one
out
of
the
seven
parameters,
because
technically
it
is
seven
times
so.
The
way
around
that
was
to
add
the
parameter,
call
that
parameter
specify
that
parameter
six
more
times.
So
this
is
basically
how
this
URL
is
going
to
end
up
looking
when
you're
done.

when
you
run
a
report
in
koha
in
jQuery
pay
attention
to
how
many
times
you're
calling
a
a
parameter.
It's
not
going
to
match
what
you
see
when
you
normally
run
the
report
you're
going
to
have
to
make
sure
that
you
are
calling
that
parameter.
However,
many
times
it's
needed
in
the
actual
SQL,
all
right
back
to
the
video.

What
I
have
the
situation
I
have,
though,
is
at
the
beginning
of
each
year.
You
know,
I,
ask
the
directors,
the
library
directors
to
either
go
in
and
make
sure
all
of
their
holidays
for
the
upcoming
year
are
set
in
their
calendars
or
to
contact
me
and
I
will
fill
that
data
in
for
them,
and
so,
when
I
saw
the
com,
the
commentary
on
the
slack,
Channel
and
I
saw
that
you
guys
had
put
this
into
the
home
page.

thought
that's
what
I
should
do,
but
I
wanted
to
get
more
in
there,
because
I
wanted
to
cover
a
whole
bunch
of
bases
and
I
wanted
to
remind
everybody.
You
know
these
are.
These
are
the
holidays
for
the
whole
year
for
what's
coming
up
at
your
library,
so
that's
kind
of
what
I
did
is
I've
got.
You
know
this
is
the
koha
US
demo

I
put
all
this
stuff

But
what
I've
got
is
a

this
will
go
all
the
way
through
to
the
end
of
2023,
since
we're
in
December
now
or
it
should
go
up
till

got
the
day
of
the
week.
I
wanted
to
plug
that

Christmas
repeats
every
year
on

didn't
put
these
dates

the
calendar.

to
say
this
library
is
closed
on
Sundays
and
it
repeats
every
week,
so
I
wanted
to
cover
all
the
holidays
and
not
just
the
holidays,
but
the
regular
weekly
closures,
because
you
know
that
that
that
way,
the
anybody
at
the
library
can
look
at
that
without
we
have
the
calendar
tool
lockdowns
that
only
the
directors
can
see
it.
So.

the
library
can
see
it,
but
only
the
director
can
go
in
and
manage
it
and
I
think
that
is
one
of
the
issues
with
the
calendar
and
koha
is
that
you
have
to
have
permission
to
see
that
to
use
that
tool
in
order
to
be
able
to
even
see
what's
on
it
right
and,
of
course,
like
you,
I've
got
this
tied
in.
So
if
we
switch
branches,
if
I
set
the
library
to
I
put
in
some
holidays
for
the
West
Branch.

But
the
report
that
I
wrote
is
a
little
bit
different
than
what
you
wrote
and
what
and
what
Andrew
had,
but
essentially
it's
looking
at
both
of
those
tables.
It's
looking
at
repeating
holidays
and
special
holidays,
both
and
and
calculating
what
are
the
ones
coming
up
in
the
next
12
months,
and
it
would
not
be
if
you
wanted
to
use
this
same
report
to
just
do
the
next
four
weeks
or
the
next
month
or
the
next
two
months.

I've
got

jQuery

it's
doing
is
it's
saying
whatever,
whatever
I
see
that
I'm
on
the
home
page
and
that
there's
data
in
this
area,
it's
going
to
find
the
table
by
the
table
ID
which
I
think

closures

then
it's
going
to
pump
all
of
that
data
into
each
row.
It's
going
to
append
all
of
those
rows
with
the
data
in
it
to
the
table.
So
it's
was
just
kind
of
a
different
way
of
doing
exactly
the
same
thing
that

Andrew

doing.

worried

seeing

all

public

this
report
is
populated
on

circulation
page
and
it's
the
contact
information,

easy
place
for
other
libraries

contact
information
for
the
other
libraries,
but
I've
got
the
cash
expiry
for
the
report
that
generates
this
table
set
to
12
hours
so
that
that
way,
every
time
somebody
loads
the
circulation
page.
It
isn't
reloading
that
it
isn't
re-running
that
report.
It's
only
re-running
it
every
12
hours
to
repopulate
that.

in
fact
you

when
you
were
showing
that
you

was

jumping
on
the

get
Jason
bandwagon.
But
then
you

found
out
later
that
you

there
are
apis
out
there

don't

run

dedicated
report.
So
you
don't

eliminates
that
portion,
but
the
apis
are
limited
to
certain
parts
of
the
database.
So

can't
get
an
API
for
absolutely
everything.
I
doubt
there's
an
API
for
the
calendar,
but
I
could
be
wrong,
but.

is

looked
okay
when
we
started
looking
at
this.
That
was
one
of
the
first
things
that
occurred
to
me.
Is
it
could
I
do
this
with
an
API
and
there
isn't
currently
I
think
the
the
issue
with
that
damage
status
is

you
can't
I'm
not
sure
if
I
can
use
a
barcode
number,
you
might
have
to
get
the
item
ID
number,
which
complicates
things
apis.

you're
accessing
record
information,
you

information
or,
if
you're
accessing,
item
information
but
stuff
outside
of
that,
it's
questionable
whether
you'll
find
an
API
for
that,
but
I
always
recommend
if
you
can

it

because

eliminates
the

need
to

dedicated
report
hanging
out
there.

well
structured,
it's

those
ones
that
takes
a
long
time
to

get
what
it
needs

can
slow
your
page
down.

yeah
you've
got
to
use
that
wisely

to
recording
that

calendar

great,
I
would
love
to
be
able
to
see
more
from
the
calendar
in
the
future.
When
we

putting
this
together,
we

staff

put
the
gates
in
for
the
different
libraries.

they
request.

days
to
be
scheduled
in
there,
so
that
circulation
doesn't
have
due
dates
on
closed
days.

were

were
not
labeled,

just
dates

nobody
looks
at
it

thinks
about
it.
