Description
This week's video is so spectacular, we not only had to scrap our first attempt, but we had to split it into two videos. That's right: TWO. Not only that, we're releasing it a day early, because we just know our viewers can't wait. That, and I didn't want to have to post and advertise on a holiday. But
this
is
the
batch
permissions
modifier
plugin,
which
is
something
that
I
learned
about
at
the
koha
US
conference
here
in
Lawrence
in
September
and
as
a
just
a
complete
matter
of
coincidence,
right
after
I
learned
about
this,
we
we've
had
in
the
past
year
or
two
we've
had
some
security
issues
where
staff
have
been
terminated
or
left
the
library
for
one
reason
or
another.
Whenever
that
happens,
we
have
to
have
you
know.

But
we've
never
done
that
because
you
know
I
think
I
figured
one
time
that
it
would
be
like
300
different
passwords
to
manage
and
setting
up
the
permissions
is
only
something
that
the
necklace
staff
can
do
when
it's
it's
tedious
and
if,
if
some
new
feature
comes
along-
and
you
want
to
add
that
permission
to
use
that
new
feature
to
300
users,
that's
a
lot
of
editing
of
permissions.
The
the
batch
permissions
plug-in
the
batch
permissions.
Modifier
plugin
simplifies
so
much
of
this.

So
what
I'm
going
to
do
is
I'm
going
to
go
to
tools
or
admin,
kohai
admin
or
tools.
I'll
just
do
this
through
the
admin,
interface
and
I'm
just
going
to
scroll
down
on
the
left
here.
There's
a
administrative
function
called
manage,
plugins
and
koha
us
on
our
site.
We've
got
a
whole
bunch
of
plugins
installed
and
the
koha
US
the
koha
community
plugins.

gave
all
of
these,
the
name
template
and
the
last
name
kind
of
defines
the
templates
role,
and
then
you
go
into
permissions
and
you
give
the
template
the
permissions
that
you
want
to
give
for
that
template.
So
in
this
case
you
know
I've
got
they
can
check
things
in
and
out.
They've
got
staff
access,
ad
modify
and
view
patrons
placeholds
they've
got
some
permission
for
the
cataloging,
manage
Patron
fines
and
fees.
They've
got
access
to
a
few
tools,
suggestion
management
and
then
these
tools
here
they
can
edit
execute
reports
they
can
allow.

I
created
one
called
permissions
assistant,
permission,
circulation,
permissions
director,
permission,
self-checkout
and
permission
Technical
Services,
but
there's
already
a
list
in
here
called
borrower
list
and
there's
already
a
list

here

patrons

photos.
This
is
our
test
server,
so
these
aren't
real
patrons.

my
production
system,
I
do
have
I
think
I
have
like
40
some
lists
and
they
all
show
up
in
this
drop
down.
Okay,
it's
doesn't
filter
anything
based
on
what
kind
of
list
it
is
so
the
I've
chosen,
the
director
template
and
the
patron
list
I'm
going
to
choose
the
director
Patron
list
and
as
soon
as
I
click
this
button,
it
says
batch,
modify.

to
the
batch
modifying
batch
permissions,

choose
director
and
I
choose
that
same
list.
It's
gonna
put
all
of
those
back
to
just
the
director
permissions.
There
isn't
a
way
of

you
know.
Every
time

run

It's

to
manually
update
everybody
on
that
list
cool,
and
so
you
know,
I
haven't
updated
this
page
yet,
but
I've
got
the
manage
EDI
fact
and
manage
basket
and
Order
lines
if
I
reload,
if
I
go
back
and
reload
I,
think
it's
going
to
lose
one
of
those
Acquisitions
permissions.

Yes,
yeah

This
is
a
great
tool,
but
it
does
have
some
potential
pitfalls
if
you're
not
careful
with
it.
So
we'll
we'll

that

and

pitfalls.
But
overall
you
know
this.
This
is
a
a
great
tool
for
people
that
are
administrating
a
system,
especially
a
large
system.
