Description
Cluster Ops SIG meeting Nov 2, 2017
A
Alright,
hello,
everyone:
this
is
Shane
Gibson
I'm,
stepping
in
today
for
Rob
Hirschfeld
to
help
chair
the
kubernetes
sig
cluster
hops.
We
have
a
group
of
folks
with
us
today,
a
bunch
of
new
faces
and
welcome
to
everybody.
Who's
new
myself
included
we're
gonna
go
ahead
and
since
we're
a
little
bit
past,
the
top
of
the
hour,
we're
going
to
jump
right
over
to
Jim
Connor.
Who
is
going
to
talk
a
little
bit
about
the
demo
that
was
in
discussion
in
previous
Meetup,
so
Jim
go
ahead.
Okay,
this
won't
be
too
long.
I.
B
B
The
the
details
of
that
demo
are
a
little
bit
of
sketchy
to
me.
I'm
not
really
sure.
Having
been
really
new
to
this,
this,
the
sig
I,
don't
know
exactly
what
everybody
wants
to
see.
So
I
can
wing
it,
or
are
we
conveying
it?
That's
not
a
problem.
I
just
need
to
have
some
information
with
respect
to
like
any
details
of
expectation
about
how
long
we
should
expect
it
to
go.
B
B
A
B
A
B
Believe
the
answer
to
that
question
would
be
yes,
it's
very
when
it
comes
up
in
the
master
plan,
the
master
plans
and
completes
a
Jake
along
the
edge
CD
server,
the
API
everything
is
brought
up
in
H
a
so
and
that's
configurable
as
well.
It
doesn't
have
to
be
H
a
it
just
depends
on
how
you
setup
your
configuration,
Fred
C,
the
first
president
for
Kraken.
So
yes,
yes,
it
does
and,
of
course
it's
in
heavy
development,
so
we're
working
every
single
day
as
doll.
So
again
it's
an
open
source
tool.
B
A
B
B
So
that's
kind
of
the
purpose
of
my
question.
Right
I
can
certainly
demo
bringing
up
a
cluster
how
to
generate
config
what
to
do
to
edit
the
config
bring
it
up.
Take
a
look
at
it
see
what
it
can
do.
Well,
I'm,
really
curious
about
what
the
community
might
be
interested
in,
seeing
what
Kraken
can
do
and
then
maybe
we
could
answer
those
questions
as
well.
So
it's
kind
of
a
this
is
kind
of
a
two-sided
question,
I'm
looking
for
what
we
can
provide
and
what
the
community's
interested
to
see
sure.
C
B
Okay,
probably
Kubb
admin
as
well
yeah,
so
we're
in
the
process
of
actually
trying
to
to
take
advantage
of
Kubb
admin
as
well
and
cracking
so
we're
really
trying
to
make
sure
that
we
have
a
tool,
that's
very
useful
to
the
community,
so
I
can
certainly
look
into
that.
I
can
get
some
comparisons
and
see
if
we
can
work
that
in
I
might
have
to
request
a
push
out
as
far
as
a
date
I'll.
Let
you
know
about
that.
I
told
Rob.
A
Okay,
when
we
restore.
B
B
E
F
C
It
also
kind
of
touches
the
whole
topic
of
the
cluster
API
and
know
that
mission
in
general,
because
those
are
also
the
concepts
that
that
will
revolve
around
maintenance
of
the
cluster
and
also
spinning
the
cluster
up.
So
so,
I
wonder
if
you've
already
investigated
those
new
api's
that
are
showing
up
inside
of
kubernetes
and
probably
are
to
something
core
will
be
to
some
extent
utilized
by
Coubertin.
For
example,
I
mean
for
your
provisioning
solution.
C
I
said
cluster
API,
which
was
supposed
to
be
on
the
agenda
for
today,
but
I.
Don't
think
we
have
anyone
who
actually
knows
it
and-
and
they
know
that
mission
in
general,
so
defining
the
state
of
the
cluster
inside
of
the
API
itself.
I.
Think
that
that's
where
Koo
Baden
goes
and
that's
where
cops
also
wants
to
be
to
have
like
common
layer
of
configuration
within
the
API
and
then
have
it
instantiated
with
tools
like
qubit,
our
or
corpse
or
or
whatever
else.
A
Ok,
excellent
discussions,
Jim
I'm,
not
sure
I,
can
guide
you
exactly
what
the
the
typical
recommendation
is
with
this
meetup
groups
guidelines
for
how
long
the
demo
should
run
I'm
going
to
say
it's
probably
15
to
20
minutes,
tops
typically
within
an
hour
demo
like
this.
Simply
because
you
know,
there's
usually
two
to
four
agenda
items
and
I.
Guess
that's
probably
going
to
be
what
your
target
range
you're
going
to
be
looking
for,
so
you're
gonna
want
to
kind
of
compress
that
down
pretty
quickly
to
around
15
or
20
minutes.
A
A
But
that's
what
I
would
suggest
targeting
for
and
typically
you're
going
to
want
to
do
around
like
15
minutes
for
the
demo
and
then
five
minutes
for
kind
of
Q&A
afterwards,
because
it
sounds
like
an
interesting
tool
that
touches
a
number
of
big
areas
and
topics
and
is
very
good
discussion
and
regards
to
note
admission
and
cluster
API
integrations
as
well,
because
those
are
some
of
the
really
new,
interesting
API
components
around
kubernetes.
And
so
there
would
probably
be
some
good
feedback
and
questions
around
that
area.
A
And
it's
an
awfully
big
ass,
because
it's
an
installation
is
a
big
task
and
especially
if
you're
going
to
do
any
comparisons.
But
I.
Hopefully
like
gives
you
sort
of
an
idea
of
a
ballpark
to
look
at
for
a
target.
And
if
there's
some
interest
in
some
follow-up
and
like
more
detailed
or
specific
kind
of
demos
and
other
areas,
I
think
that
you
guys
would
probably
be
able
to
get
on
the
agenda.
For.
C
G
C
We're
always
talking
a
lot
about
the
installation,
but
effectively
the
installation
is
just
the
first
day
of
your
work
with
the
cluster,
and
then
you
have
role
the
group
of
nodes.
You
have
to
update
them.
You
have
to
maintain
the
health
of
the
class
or
you
might
want
to
migrate
it
or
scale
the
groups
or
our
different
groups,
and
there's
there's
a
huge
amount
of
stuff
that
that
actually
comes
after
the
cluster
installation.
I
would.
B
A
So
I
think
fun
during
silence
is
I,
think
we're
going
to
table
and
defer
bug
scrub
on
that
as
well.
Okay,
excellent!
So
that
was
easy.
All
right
bug,
scrubs
done!
I
love
it
all!
Right.
Last
we
had
cluster
API
and
again
I.
Think
there's
not
enough
domain
knowledge
with
whom
we
have
on
board
at
the
moment
to
give
it
much
justice
in
terms
of
cluster
API.
What
we
wanted
to
discuss,
because
it.
A
B
C
That
was
about
it
that
that's
the
problem
and
I
actually
hope
that
someone
will
be
here
who
worked
a
bit
with
it
now.
I
know
that
around
cops
and
cube
Adam
there
was
worked
on
to
have
things
stored
inside
kubernetes
inside
the
API,
so
that
that
you
don't
have
all
of
that
information
for
spinning
nodes
in
the
cluster
managing
the
cluster
living
outside
of
the
cluster
itself,
both
to
have
it
inside
of
the
cluster
as
full-blown
kubernetes
objects
and
and
I've
seen
some
who
requests
I
think
around
it
or
something
like
that.
C
C
A
A
Well,
everyone
appreciate
all
of
your
time
and
bearing
with
me
as
a
newbie
to
carrying
an
unknown
meetup
group
I
appreciate
your
patience,
patience
and
as
I
promised
Jim
I
will
followup
with
Rob
Hirschfeld
about
guidance
on
timeline
and
verification
on
schedule.
Actually,
a
good
question
on
that.
I
did
not
record
when
you're
originally
planning
to
potentially
demo
versus
when
you
feel
you
can
demo.
So
if
you
had
any
info
on
that
before
we
wrap
up
I'll
get
that
in
front
of
Rob
as
well.
For.
B
Okay,
that's
that's
actually
good,
because
two
weeks
ago
is
gonna
be
a
month
out.
Sometimes
I
have
two
weeks
until
we
have
to
do
this
demo
realistically,
I
think
it'd
be
better
if
it
could
even
push
it
out
another
month
or
so
cuz.
We
we
had
to
get
some
approvals
on
our
site
to
make
sure
everything
was
good
for
doing
the
demo
and
that
took
a
little
longer
than
they.
B
A
So
what
I'll
do
is
they'll
say
that
you
guys
are
looking
for
around
the
1st
of
December
I,
don't
know
what
the
current
schedule
is
for
the
follow-up
meetings
in
terms
of
demos
and
where
it
fits
in
so
I
can't
make
you
any
promises,
but
I
will
definitely
get
that
in
front
of
them
and
we'll
get
an
answer
back
to
you
as
quickly
as
possible
on
that
as
we
can.
Yes,.
