Yeah, okay, yeah. What you're really shooting for here isn't the replacement of the existing page as much as it is an augmentation of the existing page with additional features. Hopefully you come out with about three pages. In total one focused on visualizer one on designer one on collaboration, it sounds like um just the speed by which this is moving along. We should probably use the replacement of the existing Pages.

Yeah yeah, so uh my issue was to create a security vulnerability page for the main website right. So it's in the handbook section of the community uh I have added this security vulnerability column. You can click on it, and this is quite similar to the one which uh the documentation website of Mastery had so I just like mimic the make everything there- and this is the end result that it was quite simple to us. So I did it in a day or two I have already raised a PR for this.

Oh, actually, uh you suggested some changes. I did that and last time I think uh yeah. uh Some ishan mentioned that we should discuss it on the meat, so I bring it down here. Oh.

Yeah, nice yeah great. We need to approve the workflow to build again with the latest changes that you've made, but so um just for context for everyone else, there's a lot of there's I, don't know, there's a number of Open Source projects that we have and that you all Steward and create and build on and and well it's I, don't know how to capture it. It's with some frequency people will come by and point out a vulnerability.

They do that on the layer 5 I o site on messery, I o site in the Mastery UI app in all the projects and so gurpreet I'm, just giving it the rest of the people on the call a bit of context, and so they we've had an established procedure for how to report security vulnerabilities for meshery that project specifically, but people report vulnerabilities across them all like I was saying, um and so it is, and so it had been a suggestion that in the community handbook on layer, 5 IO that we, you know sort of regurgitate that procedure here and so gurpreet is doing that.

um There's the as he does that and establishes kind of a new mailing address for vulnerabilities, not at meshery.dev I, think it was where the other one is, but at something like vulnerabilities at layer, 5 IO or some other some other mailers, probably appropriate group I. Think that's my outstanding feedback that maybe I haven't given just yet, and that is that you would scrub the content of what's said such that it's not meshery specific, but just some a broader term for something more.

So you want it to be like uh more layer, 5, specific right, yeah.

Or maybe the opposite of the word specific outband like broad yeah, yeah in indirect or broader, like I'm kind of hoping that we can get away with. If someone wants to report any vulnerability on Nighthawk that we haven't established this procedure specifically for Nighthawk, so it would be nice if, if this one was a catch-all, um not that we shouldn't have continue to have specific procedures, it's just that we haven't built them out for all the rest. So if this one is a catch-all, that'd be that'd, be nice that actually would have.

You then reflect on the table. That's there where it calls out like for one or two of the vulnerabilities that people have reported in the past. We considered well. Well, it's like a lot of things that we do here. We want to encourage folks that report vulnerabilities. We want to encourage them to report more and to help us ensure that we get that vulnerability patched and one of the ways that we do. That is um on occasion.

We will file the that vulnerability to get a cve to get a unique identifier for that specific item and and help try to get their name on it or give them something on their resume or whatever or just experience on their belt or whatever they're looking for and uh and so either the table, the entries that you have for measuri now they you can either think of this as um a catalog of a centralized catalog of all the vulnerabilities, potentially from all the rest of the projects or you might remove those entries and leave them only in meshery.

But it kind of depends on how you phrase it. It could work either way. Okay,.

Okay and um yeah, if anybody else has um thoughts about that, you know one of the things that I think it'd be nice. I, think nice, for all of you to think about a little bit is there's a couple of and more than a couple of areas that people engage within and contribute to the project into the community, and this is an example of one of those areas where it's not always necessarily um clear that so and so uh helped here and what like I was saying.

We want to try to uplift and uplift the works and efforts that people give and that's why we talk about, but have a member profile or we invite people to join the organizations or we um I give them a. uh You know suggest that they get a badge on their profile or we there's a variety of activity, we'll send them a free, ebook or we'll do just uh we'll tweet about them, we'll um LinkedIn about them. We'll talk about that. We don't.

We don't do enough of that which we're trying to if people are participating on the discussion forum and answering a lot of questions like there should be there there. There's definitely points assigned, there's, definitely a bunch of reports that have that info. We want to talk about that and uplift people. The reason I'm going through this um Spiel is to say well, is to wonder aloud with all of you.

If so, ux is kind of another one of those areas where there's a lot of good work that can happen often in figma not always but often there, and how does that get exposed and how do people?

um How do we help people be proud of that, and and well one of the thoughts is that will the names would be recorded here, for example, if a vulnerability was listed like is the to the extent that person wants to uh like nearly all the time that they desire to put their name on their work, and so that's something to think about gurpreet if, if we're able to, if there's a space for that person's name or their GitHub, username or whatever they might prefer and for the rest of you, as you think about that, um I'll use the ux work as the other example of there, there can be a there can be a way of people signing their work in some respects like it could be a wall or a a a page inside the community handbook that talks about.

You know that thanks them for their stuff, or that just says hey, they did this work at this time. Here's a link to that design, and maybe it's still in use- maybe it's not or things for you all to think about.

Yeah, that's a great idea having that in the community and.

Yeah, it could be, could be created, I mean too, especially the ux one, to the extent that people are visually creative with ux that maybe it's a board that gets signed or something I don't know, instead of just their name or what have you it's, but or a collage of all the designs that people have made or something yeah.

So this one is one of them like an infinite uh character in The partner, section on uh dfi.io, but one more uh PR, which I think is very easy and relatively newcomer friendly. Is this PR, which is right here so I I, don't think some code is quite active in the community. So if anyone is willing to fix this issue, you can quickly uh submit a prior tool like it's just changing the cdk to slow.

You should you should take that in part, because the way that those Integrations are controlled is through the that Central spreadsheet, that tracks all the logos and so changes that are made to the Integrations section directly to the website. Changes are made like in that way. They can be overwritten from changes that are made in the spreadsheet, and so it's a little bit of a different contribution model and so udkarsh Mishra yeah.

On a related note to something very similar to this. It's also on the main page and it's actually it's much more desired than this infinite carousel. On the partner section, the partner section is actually intentionally designed such that it's like um any anyway. um It would be great if someone picked up that issue great great, there's another one that if um I'll briefly describe because it's actually very much desired and uh and you'll get a lot of support in trying to get it done, which is yeah.

um If Sean is almost there, it's right underneath the search area for the there's, a I think um bought me. uh Bought me one of the uxrs here, not I, think I know he designed um a single row collection of categories, so there's the search bar and then there's three rows of these different categories. Different filters that you can use to look at all of the Integrations and on the main page we're trying to keep it fairly tight and so there's a design out there.

That uses a carousel, which is why I'm bringing it up very similar to the other issue. It uses a carousel just to have left and right arrows and keep um these this category filters just one row High.

um If somebody is into that, um let's do it. There should be an open issue. Maybe someone is assigned they're, definitely not working on it. Arone.

That'd be great just to get you know, opinion just to see what it looks like see if it makes sense so there's two fonts that are in the brand guide for layer five, I o there's a whole PowerPoint or not PowerPoint.

Oh my gosh there's a whole uh slide deck on um that's a brand guide for layer five and it talks about who we are and who we're trying to speak to, and this kind of thing there's there's the brand page sure, but there's a different deck that goes a little more in depth and part of what that deck has and part of what is identified in the design system in figma for layer. Five is well.

um Typography is one of the things and currently it the brand guide and the design system call for use of two fonts canela's soft, which is the the font family that you see in bold with 150 plus Integrations, and then it also calls for use of open Sans, which is the font that you see in the titles of those category filters or no. No, it isn't um not right. It's it's! What it's!

A

What you normally see um right now, what you're seeing is basically the whole site having gone to canela's soft, and so it's just so there's an exploratory suggestion to potentially shift from use of both of those fonts, because normally what we have is canela's soft being used in the headings and then for the body text. That's an open sense! That's what the site currently has and I think that's what discussed that layer.

5Io has as well and maybe some other sites, and so, um if we end up sharing this deploy preview link here in the meeting and maybe in Slack, you all can take a look and see what you think see if you, if one of them strikes you as more aesthetically pleasing than the next.

So plus feedback I think the one with the the one in the preview is better than what we have here. So this is what we have here, and this is the preview one. So it's like it's a little uh thinner, so I think it's better the one we have in the preview cool uh anyone interested like anyone can give suggestion it's just about which one is better and which one is better than the other. So yeah.

The second one, the the one that is showing being shown is better, obviously, because it's more aesthetically pleasing at least yeah.

I'll share this for a moment, um so Krishna Gupta and gangan preet, Kelsey, Carr and I think I thought at least one other person had worked on or are working on. I know this is kind of small I'll, but are working on an open pull request in the measuri measuri repo measuri measuri. That repo has uh not only Mastery server and measure UI and measuring CLI.

It also has mesh redox, so so there's an effort underway to change meshery docs to well. Initially it was to have a dark mode for Mastery Docs, but the effort has morphed into I think quite a bit more of um we'll just upload. You know sort of a facelift for the site itself, so I've just built it I've refreshed I'm using Safari to the extent that that matters.

um So here's here's. What I think is the latest wait. A second I think I pulled all the okay yeah.

Here's that latest work. We've definitely looked at this um previously on this. This, just you know a little bit larger font here might be nice for folks.

um We there have been suggestions in the past to potentially get off of Jekyll and use something like um docosaurus or get off of Jekyll and use Hugo um with a theme like the doxy theme, doc, Sy, doxy, um largely I, think those two suggestions came about for probably one one significant reason, and that was that the theme that we were using in Jekyll didn't have native support for versioning of the site, and so we ended up augmenting the theme to support multiple versions, and so we have a solution in place. Although.

um Anyway, although it can take some time to build the site using Ruby using Jekyll, um maybe moving moving to Hugo with with go and a theme that natively has support for this, like that's something that we could certainly consider. It's um a bunch of rework, hopefully for the better I'm.

Almost shouldn't have brought that up in the same breadth that we're looking at this facelift. So maybe that that that suggestion to potentially use a different framework. That's it's a separate discussion, um something that someone might want to try, but to look at this like like it's. You know, there's all kinds of great things to say. We reviewed this before I just wanted to get a quick sense of how far off it was. If some of the more challenging issues that we discussed like this have been addressed, and now like this is.

This is probably one of the um probably a few outstanding blockers that we have for moving forward here, which is this is unintuitive, and what we would ideally have is a pull tab um and there's an example of what a pull tab is for this sidebar in the pr.

So um folks need some help like gurpreet you're sitting there and it looks like your fingers aren't moving at the moment, which means like you know, you know they might want to do something like on on something like this um one thing to note. One thing: that's counterintuitive to me: I, don't know if it's counterintuitive to everyone else, but you watch as the site has a few media queries or it has a few points of responsiveness. Actually I personally believe midi queries shouldn't really like. If you are designing well or using CSS.

Well, you wouldn't use them that you would have been that you'd be using a more Dynamic CSS that it that does change and shift is responsive, but doesn't do it on certain break points.

um You can notice that one of the break points here is that the font gets even smaller in order to I think you know fit more into the page, what my goodness that gets pretty tiny, especially if you get onto a mobile device, it's kind of the inverse that you want happening. It's kind of counter-intuitive to me, but it's like the smaller the screen that you're on the larger, the font that you want, which is kind of weird.

You usually think like just model the screen, you need to compact it and get more on, but actually, um if I use Sharma was on he's been going through Lighthouse and the integration of Lighthouse into the CI for layer, 5 IO, one of the negative marks that you'll get and the lower page rank you might have for your site is if things are too squished if you're not giving like for a button specifically, if you don't give 48 by 48 pixels of size, for your button to click for that, your big fat thumb to hit or my big fat thumb, and if you don't give enough space between the next button over as well negative marks, and so anyway, something that I'm seeing here is ah we probably went the wrong way.

The font should probably get bigger and I think as I continue to get smaller. It does come back a little bit, but so should we just you know, you know those are probably about yeah good. If you get small enough, both of these, the in page navigation goes away and um which is great and so and just a quick look to see.

If you pull that up inside of the sources, I think that you can look around in there and maybe Implement some logic to prevent that from occurring.
