In October '22, MakerDAO Governance approved the Endgame Plan. A comprehensive DAO restructuring to accomplish better alignment of capital to work and workforce. MakerDAO is currently in the midst of enabling this restructuring which will manifest SubDAOs - fully independent, token-based voting Governance Systems for specific classes of work within Maker. This talk will provide the public one of the first looks into the Endgame Plan's development, exploring the effort invested into reorganizing token holders into Decentralized Voter Committees (DVCs), Core Units into SubDAOs, creating opportunities for more organizations to work with MakerDAO as ecosystem actors, and the introduction of SubDAO tokens and the Elixir Wars.

For the 13th episode of Focus On, we hosted the Centrifuge team for a Q3 update.

This was a holistic update, with the team first presenting a review of Centrifuge and Tinlake, and what they’ve achieved since starting to tokenize real-world assets on-chain with Maker. The team then reviewed how their success has been driven by their fundamental beliefs and core principles. The session concluded with a preview of how Centrifuge is preparing for an exciting future into beyond 2023, and a community Q&A.

For the 12th episode of Focus On, we hosted a joint discussion by Centrifuge and the incubating Legal & Transaction Services Core Unit to explore the progress made regarding Centrifuge’s legal structure.

This is an exciting update for the teams onboarding real-world assets. The Indenture Trust Agreement these teams have been developing is open source, reusable, and adaptable by anyone in the Maker Ecosystem. This agreement creates a pathway for Centrifuge, and potentially other RWAs, to build a sound foundation that scales the financing of RWAs.

Eli Cohen @elidco - General Counsel of Centrifuge & Christian Petersen @christiancdpetersen from LTS co-led this discussion. The team discussed:

-What is the goal of the agreement
-How the agreement works in practice
-How the structure will scale real-world assets for both Centrifuge and MakerDAO

On the 11th episode of Focus On, we hosted Kirill Bensonoff @prankstr25 from New Silver for an AMA on Real Estate Investment Markets.

For the newer community members at the DAO, New Silver was the first ‘real-world’ asset voted in by MakerDAO Governance, and celebrated the 1 year anniversary of minting the first Dai backed by RWAs on 21-April.

Following up their recent March 2022 update 1, New Silver joined Focus On to discuss the current macro and micro economic trends affecting the US real estate markets. We discussed how inflation & rising interest rates may affect real estate investors.

Focus On hosted Eric Rapp @Eumenes from @Real-World-Finance and Christian Petersen @christiancdpetersen from the incubating Legal & Transaction Services Core Unit to discuss the MIP6 process vs. TradFi deal assessments.

The team first discussed the MIP6 process by reviewing the framework for fact-based assessments and the role of RWF core unit(s). The team then explored comparable aspects of TradFi Structured Finance Transactions and how the roles of borrowers & lenders translate to MakerDAO’s MIP6 framework.

The Dai Foundation Core Unit’s mandate is to safeguard Maker’s intellectual property. Protection, as well as transparency and accessibility to Maker’s assets both fall within scope for this core unit.

A major update the Dai Foundation Core Unit is excited to share with the community is the work invested into identifying new board members for the Danish Foundation, and the requirements to be a board member.

For the 8th episode of Focus On, we host @monet-supply, Risk Core Unit and Delegate, to discuss his proposed revisions to MKR Staking & Tokenomics.

Addressing Maker’s criticisms of having weak tokenomics, stkMKR attempts to fix the project’s challenges by introducing incentives to governance participation, while also increasing governance security and resiliency to credit losses.

The proposal borrows economic mechanisms from other successful ecosystems, utilizing inspiration from Cosmos governance and stkAAVE & xSUSHI tokenomics.

The three primary components focused on in this approach are:

Surplus Action Changes
Governance System Changes

For the 6th episode of Focus On, we will host the Data Insights Core Unit @data-insights-cu.

The Data Insights team will share an update on their Core Unit’s work over the past several months, highlighting the tools and services the Core Unit supports for the community.

Following the publication of several new MIPs, the Data Insights team will also explore what the future holds for the Core Unit, and welcomes any questions or comments regarding their strategy to accomplish their goals.
