So I'm a Christian there's all my stuff I'm on the PNP, 4 team and I'm, an office development MVP and one of the things I do as part of PNP is help maintain this repo right here. This is our SP dev list. Formatting are extremely catchy name for a repo here, and this is where we have all our SharePoint list. Formatting samples, so everything April just showed off- is here and available for you open source and free and copy and start using it right away and to make that even easier.

We're trying to address that with a brand new kind of documentation site here. So if I click on this I see put some work in here to try and make this even friendlier and easier to use right. So the idea here is you shouldn't have to be a github guru or a you know, hardcore dev to use some of these things.

So if you take a look here, we've got notes about how things are organized. You know guide to getting started here, we'll walk you through how you can use those samples directly from github very similar to what April showed with the cutting and the pasting put in there.

If you want to know where you do four column formats right or especially it's for view formats, all that's in here, and so let's say: I've got, you know my classic warrior horses site and I've got my things list here and I've got all these pretty column formats, but I've got one more I want to do right, so I want to find one that applies to a multi, select person field right. What's the easiest way to do that?

Well, you could go and you could click around and into the repo itself or you come over here and look at some of our new groupings listings. So now we've got this idea of samples by column type right, so I can come down here. I can see where all these column types are used in all the various samples across the board. So I come down to multi-person. Now, there's several samples here. So I can click directly on the multi person face file. It could take me right to that sample as they amended every sample here.

We've tried really hard to standardize this, so everyone has a readme right. It'll tell you what it does kind of key things: that's trying to show off, usually a picture, even animated gif. It's mixed details, but always has this view requirements right. So I'll tell you what columns you're going to need to know to replicate this one. In this case we just need a single. You know: multi select person field, all right, some additional beat notes, or anything else might be on here every once in a while.

Some of these samples include things like site scripts or provisioning templates right for the more advanced ones. It'll give you the details and how to use those here, but I can do it directly here.

Just like the document shows- and you can do the raw trick just like it shows we want to do that- fancy ctrl-a all right or command a or you can also just grab it here and I'm, going to copy it like that, and if we go back almost every column, type of the exclusion of location and currency provide this column, settings format this column, and you can just paste it right here, all right and we hit save and there we go now.

If you are working with a currency or a location column, you can do that by going to list settings and click it on the field and there'll be an option there again. Details on that are all in the repo in the repo documentation. Now, if you've got something like a date field, all right, you go to format this column, you might be a little thrown off by this right. This is a nice design, mode template and you can use all that.

But if you want to use one of our samples, all you have to do is hit this Advanced Mode link down here and then you can paste it directly. One thing to note is where it says this: formatting Jason will be discarded. That's only if you switch back to design notes, don't worry your formatting J's gonna be just fine, just hit save and you're good to go all right. So let's take a look back at our exciting site here and a couple of things we've got available too.

Let me click back in here, so additional groupings right we've got things like by operator. So if you're looking specifically to do things like the join operator- and you want to see all the samples that demonstrate that check that out or if you want to find out how do I use- you know the at me special placeholder token- we've got all those listed here or, if you're interested in some of those row, actions like April showed off right.

So I want to know how she did that cool thing with the delete or I don't want to execute a flow and some of the things I could do there check out these samples. This way we also have some kind of loose categories right, so you can kind of see like hey I want to do a cool tiles thing already something with SVG all that's available here and say you just watched a really cool demo by someone like you know, April.

Alright, you want to see like I, don't quite remember what the name of that sample was. You can come here and we've listed everything by author right, so you can come in here and find what they actually put the and maybe you're stuck on SharePoint 2019. We actually have a pretty good support for a lot of samples for 2019 and you can find all those here alright and finally, now you're super inspired. You love all this and you want to contribute. You want to give back right. So absolutely love this blog, like Hugo.

That was mentioned earlier right. It kind of goes through the whole process across the board. How you be a PNP contributor through github and all sort of stuff- and this is a fantastic read- check it out for column, formatting view formatting, it's actually a little simpler. So what we've done is we put together kind of a unique contribution guide, that's specific to these samples here. So if you come through here to kind of walk you through, how do you submit an issue? That is a contribution. We appreciate issues and suggestions right.

How do I just provide a minor update? You know we had the other day. Someone noticed that a parentheses was missing at the end of a formula. Fun fact you can actually leave those out, but you know for completeness they want to put that and they made an issue and that's a fantastic way to do that, but even better is to go one step forward, which is to make the correction right in the repo and submit. That is a pull request if you're uncomfortable with doing that, which I understand pull requests. That sounds pretty elaborate.

It really just means here's the thing I made, make it in the thing. That's really good definition read this instead of what I just said. Okay, so all that's available to you like you to check it all out. We've got tons of samples right now. We've got 21 different sample. Authors got 30, plus contributors across the repo we've got 80, plus samples for both column and view formatting. So there's a lot of things happen here, we're getting new samples every week it illustrating all these things.

The documents like like this I mentioned are being hit a lot, we're doing our best, try and make those better and up to date, that's a key area. You contribute as well right if you notice hey, you know we actually support the location column, but we didn't say that that was something that someone pointed up this week. We only had an update of the docs for that I'm, trying to keep those up-to-date and a little better by linking directly to these pages right when you're looking at those operators and everything else, all right.

Excellent Chris, thank you. Thank you and the documentation slide order. This is kind of a it's, not official documentation, it's a documentation, tricky table, but this gives us the opportunity of then so phasing and promoting the samples with what people do more efficiently.

It's a really really great stunt job that one now we will also and we're looking into making making potentially a template in the provisioning service, so you might have actually heard about the provisioning SharePoint, the MPI comm, which is going to be by the way, renamed and revamp and all of that stuff and we're having an ongoing discussions on having a specific template dedicated to call them one of your former things so, basically, with two click of a finger.

Two clicks of a mouse click you're able to then provision a set of samples directly to dedicated site collection within your tenon, and that definitely would help on helping demonstrating these capabilities and showing, what's possible, we'd call them Mountain, View formatting more on all that's later, but thank you, Chris, really great stuff, really really really great stuff.
