Let's start your engines, everybody, this is the Microsoft 365 Empower platform, development, bi-weekly call it is September 14th. Where did the month already go we're halfway through? We have got a championship level call ready for you today we're getting the latest updates on the community things like pnp.net libraries, PNP Powershell latest on Yo teams, Microsoft teams, toolkit MGT, publisher, connectors and then we're going to talk about script, samples, team samples, Power, Platform samples and we'll even talk a little bit about a hack opportunity.

Then, of course, everybody's favorite time picture time together and we will then get our amazing presenters of the day. They are going to be racing around the call. Today we're going to begin with Pascal it's going to be transforming recruitment processes with AI and Power Platform using cognitive, Search Nico is going to cover, use your Azure function securely and the noob's gonna round it out on our final lap building Microsoft teams, bot for traffic details with openai function, calling so lots of amazing opportunities for us to learn together. Let's talk about some resources for you, we've got plenty. We got videos, we got a LinkedIn group for discussions. We got open source projects like pnpjs, uh we've got CLI for Microsoft 365, so many useful resources and I mentioned sample galleries that spans the Spectrum team samples, spfx samples, Power, Platform samples lists formatting samples. We got all the samples all that you would want, and all you got to do.

What does that mean? It means that we are going to work together to accomplish things that maybe you've been a little bit intimidated by like GitHub and all those phrases like pull, requests and fork and blah blame and raw. What do those mean? We will go through it together, we'll walk you through there's safe space calls, meaning they are not recorded and so you're free to ask any and all questions you want.

I know it can sometimes be intimidating when you're recorded and think ah I already know the answer to this nope we're going to learn together and you're going to leave that call feeling confident and ready to contribute to the community. So we've got our next one already scheduled out in October, because we've got a lot coming up here with conferences, and we want to give you plenty of time to plan so definitely get uh signed up for those AK dot. Awesome, thank you David, so for the next world. uh What happened? Not really that much this couple of weeks, but still some progress. The main thing is some improvements in girls, gay around the detection of SharePoint add-ins and some extra kind of options when you want to query SharePoint, edits and Azure ACS from your tenants.

The reason why is because I'm writing a module for the SharePoint yeah for Max specified assessment tool that will enable you to get like a detailed, defend three of your SharePoint edits and if your Azure ACS usage in your tenant, you might wonder why I'm doing that that will be revealed later on, but just saying anything, that's it for me. David short and sweet today.

Thank you, David yo, yo, yo, guys back from vacation highly recommend taking that uh it might get you some New Perspective, probably change your mind, smell the roses and all that stuff highly recommend that secondly, I also attended uh Community Days event here in Helsinki. So it's uh some of those events are happening around your location, highly recommend, checking them out and attending them in person.

You get to meet some really awesome speakers who might slow away, who might be flowing in from different locations and teaching some really cool stuff, so highly recommend checking them out uh talking about PNP Powershell yep uh yeah, we added quite a few stuff. In the absence uh we added a new support for Azure, ready workload, identity in Connect, PNP Powershell uh connecting the online commandlet.

uh We also added a new commandlet to retrieve Power Platform, connectors and custom connectors specifically, and we also added commands to add, remove as well as retrieve flow owners and of course there are quite a few additions and improvements to pnb tenant and pnb teams. Commandlet, as well as files and folders, have also been improved quite a lot. What more uh yeah do feel free to reach out to us on the discussion forum as well as on the issue list? Yep? uh What do you give it? That's it my.

Thank you David um and we've got some news for you last time we shared our most recent preview release of your teams, which is version 4.1.1 preview and we're actively working on bringing that into a stable version.

um This version allows you actually to scaffold projects for teams, Microsoft 365 Portland Outlook, using the latest manifest versions out there, and it furthermore fixes some box so definitely check that out um and watch our GitHub at ak.4 at ak.ms4. Slash do teams um to get informed with the next release will be out and, as usual, please feel free to contribute. Join our discussion on GitHub file, a new issue, if you think that something important is missing in your teams, we'd like to hear from you thank you over to.

Thanks David, uh so teams toolkit is our tools to also build team's apps, and we have extensions in vs code BS and we also have a CLI tool. So not much is nuisance. The last uh time I was on here talking about this, but we have the 5-1 release if you haven't seen it that is in pre-release in vs code. So there's some new features there, but that is mostly a quality of life improvements and fixing bugs and I'm trying to make things a little more pleasant for you to use.

Vs is released in 17.7, so you can take a look at that. So that's a targeting for net developers and we're also working on the CLI and refreshing that and um making that better for you as well and cope of course, copilot plugins and some new templates and samples are things that we're also working on so reach out to me. If you have any interest on the co-pilot stuff, unfortunately, there's no access right now. I know everyone's very excited about that. But as soon as it's available I'm happy to connect with you on that, thanks.

Awesome thanks John all right: let's move into MGT I, don't see Seb separ you out. There is teams lying to me. Okay, let's cover MGT, it's just ship 3.1.2, as the latest stable release. Mgt samples repository is live so definitely check out the samples you can contribute to those two by the way the public roadmap is available and there are always good first issues. You see on the bottom, there AKA dot, Ms, slash, MGT, slash issues uh reach out to Seb.

Let them know you want to get involved Gavin and him are great guys that love to get everybody involved. Remember MGT and Microsoft graph toolkit these components can be included in a number of ways. Hi everyone, so, as always, the world of connectors is growing. We are now at 1065 total connectors with more created by independent Publishers than by Microsoft ourselves by over 50. Now, which is super duper impressive. A few times ago, I think I talked about some sessions. That uh connectors would be appearing in Empower platform conference. There was actually a new session just added last week, specifically targeting our admin personas. So if any of you guys are out, there are interested in managing Enterprise data from the point of view of connectors and dataverse.

Hey, thank you David, um so script samples is a repository where you can share your Powershell scripts or bash scripts uh with the community. So this covers a range of tooling. So if you create your scripts in uh PMP, Powershell or SQL, Management Shell CLI for 365 and many many more uh there's really no limit. That's just what I've got configured on the site. uh We've got a bunch of new samples, so we've got a new PMP Powershell samples. We've got created.

Colored folders by Tetra karahara um I've actually uh contributed this time with find webpar in Pages, for example, the Twitter web part, which has recently been deprecated, we've got great site, columns and add content types by Hamid, Fazil buhari we've got export inactive site based on Days csb by chandani prajapati. We've got some updates to two scenarios, so these are samples where we've got new new types of scripts.

uh For example, the CLI for three M365 uh create library and custom content types by ganache app, so you added to that sample and he also added to create colored folders as well, and we've got one more um tweak to PMP Powershell.

So this was a sample that was updated to replace owned by every flown, a tenant uh by Taylor uh Brazil Brazelton, but if you've got any any issues with the samples or you need to reach out, because you want to contribute I'm available on Twitter or you can post on GitHub and so forth, Just ping me and I'll give you. Yeah pirate platform prompts yeah there you go uh thanks, David, so with the Power Platform prompt, Library I want to remind everyone that it is out there. So this is your go-to place if you want to get started with some of the Power Platform co-pilots and using stuff like Azure, open AI inside of the Power Platform. This has a bunch of prompts that have been seated already, but we would love to see your prompts as well as you start to use. Some of these features share.

Your favorite prompts with the community so that we can all use them and learn from them. Now this will be really applicable for something that we have kicking off today, actually and that's the Power Platform AI Global hack, that's taking place today. So this is your opportunity to get hands on with the Power Platform and all the co-pilots and the AI functionality.

That's been there for a while, like AI Builder and all that, so we have a kickoff session today, pretty much just a few hours after this call with Ryan Cunningham is going to be doing a keynote talking about AI in the Power Platform. The future and all of that greatness and we'll give you some details about the hack and the prizes that you can expect.

Thank you. uh Thank you again for giving me this opportunity to present my solution, which I have exposed to a project. It's about transforming recruitment process with AI and Power Platform using creative search. Let me show my screen.

I'm, a grad student ambassador and MVP in Windows in such a program, um an IIT consultant and data visualization, uh I'm, enthusiastic about new technologies and the field of artificial intelligence, and that's why I'm going to present my solution based on my passion with with AI and new technologies, and today I'm, going to start with problem in today with high highly Cooperative job markets. Effective recruitment is a chance of organization to attract and hire the best talent. The quality of hires can have a good, significant impact on the overall success and performance of the business.

However, traditional replacement methods such as manual reviewing resumes and conducting a personal interview, can be a inefficient and time consuming, and these outdated recruitment technique can lead to Mis opportunities, And Delay hiring decisions which can harm organ harm, an organization competitiveness in the job market and organization that rely solely on these methods, methods risk releasing out on top candidates to competitors that are using more than more modern, efficient recruitment strategies and to stay ahead of competition and attract the best talent. Organizations should all to consider adopting modern recruitment methods that leverage Technologies and data analytics.

By doing so, they can streamline directment process and make better hiring decision more quickly needing to improve business outcome and a more successful organization.

So, to overcome of this problem, we propose our hvl recruitment process with Microsoft Technologies and with with this solution, we try today to Deep dive into how new technologies combine with artificial intelligence.

Can leverage and can bring new decision based on data and with the rapid advancement with rapid advancement in Technologies organization, can now leverage various tools and platforms to optimize their recruitment process, improving efficiency accuracy and cost Effectiveness per our projects, and to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of azure recruitment process through the use of Microsoft Power Platform, and to achieve these goals, we employed power bi to track essential recruitment, kpis such as cost pay higher time to higher and the recruiter efficiency.

And additionally, we create a frequently asked a question results using powerapps to provide a quick access to a share process. Related information for HR manager and other user would have a time to understand the report. What is the report is about, and maybe they can have some some additional question and this frequent ask a question: can help them to answer rapidly questioned to have a better understanding and better idea about the process.

And, additionally, we were visualize power, automate to automate the tasks of requesting information from Azure, creative search and filling it to into power apps to respond to query and this integration uh ensure use, ensure that user could access accurate and help free information quickly and easily, ultimately leading to more efficient and effective, effective recruitment process. And this is the architecture which we base on our project.

In the left side we can have local storage or maybe a one drive storage which is connect directly through.

We've used language Services, which can allow us to upload documents and bring and allow Azure connective search to to make a search, intelligent search to extract some question and some relative answer, and once it's done, we connect it to power platforms based on power, automate and powerapps. Once application is done, you can directly integrate it into our report with power bi and the file suits that we've used in our project is come from Excel.

So this is first presentation. So here we have a Azure AI and we're already login into Azure cognitive services, and we go directly through custom question. Answering where you can upload your documents or maybe you can you can you can add your document through URLs or maybe Chit Chats, but in this demo we have used a files that is stored onto our local storage and once you have done you can name it. You can classify file structure, but here we've already uploaded the document.

Then you can go to uh edit knowledge base where it can allow you to see some question in relevant answers, and if you, if you want you can customize or maybe you can, you can add something new or maybe you can add. You can make your question to look like more accuracy based on what users are asked. uh Watch user may be asked many times to your report, and this can help you to to relate it. Your answer to your question and once you have done, we can deploy it and to deploy.

You need to go to here on to play knowledge base where you can get a prediction URL, but in a review and subjection it is another option that will allow you to see how you can improve your your your application, your your application, I mean how you can if it can going to collect some questions. That may be asking many times on your on your reports and this this all this kind of question it can be.

We add some some aware and input that will automatically get answer, and after answer, we have a another flow which concerns about a a button, a button from powerapps and after that we are going to integrate it into a into Power into Power bi, and once you have integrated into Power bi, it will be easily for you to manage and to see how his question look like when you make a test, and here I'm going just to make a text about just what's the question about um what is the higher?

What is the cost per higher I directly when I'm going to click on get answer? It will give me an answer this one here.

If it will allow higher manager to have an overview to understand how cost per hire can can give an information, how they've done their their recruitment process and if you want to know directly the server that will reject it, you can just type a question see if you rejected and directly they have all the information about the seeds that have been rejected to come back, okay and in here, so you can see across all four requestures.

The number of CV CVS range from seven to eight, the number of CVS accepted range from three to seven and the average rate of which job offer were accepted. They were accepted range from 35 percent to 85.229 percent and after that, with with another view which can help us to see a dashboard and in this dashboard we have all information about the this. The categories, if you have received, and it's a platform where we get more, where we get more uh more job.

What, if you get more uh more subscribe, more people who submit their their information and here down, we can see as a a graphics that show a number of Sims that they've been accepted and the average of each recruiter. And if you want to see a it, was a performance of your recruiters. You can see here Based on data that have been collected, that a person will give. If you come back to to all of this solution, you can see how we can combine Ai and power platforms to be the solutions that can allow handshare recruiter to make a good decision and the benefits of using this solution.

It's a its range of free or it's four, four four benefits. Firstly, uh with when you're using Microsoft, Power Platform, you can enhance your actual recruitment process in or in several benefits now. Firstly, it will allow you for greater efficiency in tracking recruitment KPS such as cost pay higher time to hire and recruiter efficient efficiency using power bi, and this can provide HR manager and other stakeholders with real-time insights and help them to make their data driving decision and, secondly, the creation of frequent request. So just a little introduction about myself. My name is Nico de Clara um I have 13 years experience as a Max of 365 developer and I'm a competencent elite at ordina I'm, a father of very two lovely girls and I'm, also a part member of the nerdy running turtles. That is a community on Twitter, where we like to challenge each other to the stage in shape.

um It's not about competition, it's just uh about being staying in shapes over to do a quick fight on on Twitter for us. If you want to join um so today, the the agenda is we're going to talk about the five authorization levels that there are, and we are also going to talk about how to secure your Azure functions with error, active directory or, as we have to say now, Microsoft Android, ID, so about Azure functions. They offer a robust Services compute platform, um where we can Empower developers to build and deploy application with ease.

um Specific Solutions or power-up Solutions, the security becomes a very Paramount consideration, so in this demo we will delve into the Azure function, security, exploringly, available, atom authentication levels and the best practice to use. When you want to safeguard your applications and data.

um The the levels we will discuss today can evoke your your functions and how we will we will determine how we can evoke your functions and how they can do it. So, let's delve into these levels, the first one is the anonymous authentication level. This level offers no security and allows anyone to invoke your functions without any authentication. It might be suitable for read-only operations that involves non-secure, sensitive.

But I, don't really uh should say that you you want to use that one. It just may be recommended for in production for um just read only data, um and you can also eventually use it with an identity provided provider, but we will see that later.

The second one is the user authentication level. It's still present. We will see that later, um but it's actually an unused Legacy value and should not be used in modern Azure functions. I have uh done some research on this and I found this little comments on the heater repository where they are saying that it is actually not used as today.

The third one is the function, authentication level. The function, authentication level is a little bit more secure. It's in combination with with an app key. um You can find these keys in the app sections of your Azure functions in the portal. More specific in those key section section of the app keys function, authentication can be used with the following Keys, like the master key, which is actually for admin access, but you can also use it when you select the function, authentication level and you can also use the default key that is recommended to use.

In this case, um you can pass the key as a query string with your API or you can use it in the header with the X functions. Key key parameter, keep in mind when you use a key in this in this case that the key is exposable.

So if it's it's retrieved, it can be not that secure, but the key can be renowned in the portal in case it is exposed.

L

Then we have the admin, authentication level, um admin authentication level. You use that with the master key, not the default key. It's actually quite the same as a function, key just that you don't use the default key, but you have to use the master key for this, this for a little bit more security, and just like the function key you can, you can pass it as a query string or in the X function, key parameter in the headers, um and you can also renew it if the key is exposed.

The last one is a System Authentication level. um That's not something. I have particularly used already, but it is present and it is actually used for extension, specific function, endpoints called by internal components. The scope of System Authentication is determined by the extension and cannot explicitly the B sets but, like I said before, I've not really use it.

So we will not see that in in this demo later on next to the authentication levels, you can also use an identity provider app for me, that's the best case to use, because that's for me the the most secure way to use your error functions.

um You can do this by integrating an identity provider like Microsoft Android, but it requires a little more configuration.

L

You have to create an app regulation from your Azure function um and uh you have this: you have to set up redirect URL, uas and obtain client credentials next to the app registration you have to set the authentication level to Anonymous, so we will see it later in in the function where you have to set that level, and this means that we don't secure the Azure function with an authentication level, but the authentication is done by the identity provider itself.

Once authenticated, the identity provider will return a token, an access token, which then can be used to secure your function access.

L

So let's do a quick uh demo that democrits are in a very good shape. First of all, we will create an Azure function. We do that by clicking on a new Azure function. Here, click on next and we will well. We will give our azure function a name oops next.

We and nothing specially. We had just use, as you can see here, the authorization level is set on function, but for now we will set it on anonymous because we will start there have a click on create. So then our editor function gets created locally.

L

So we get a little template that is already present for us. We will just remove this thing because we don't need it and we will just stay a response message: hello, B and B Community dot. That's it we'll save it and we will publish it.

The key on Azure function app, you just click on next and I, already created one earlier today in in the portal, so I will just click this one I will I will say, publish it to that Azure function and we click on finish.

That's it now, it should be published. No not yet. We just have good to click on publish.

I will start Postman already because we needed to test our API later on.

Okay, we will go already to the portal and we will get the we will see when it's published here. Let's refresh its.

Normally it should show up and there we go. We have our function. So in our portal we will go to our function and we will get to the URL click here on, get function, URL and we just gonna copy copy. It be going to postman and we're going to do a post to that to that API and we're just going to send because there's Anonymous authentication we just getting to 200 okay and we see Hello PMP Community call that's the message that we set that we want to return from our Azure function.

That's it that's not nothing special about Anonymous, but also nothing secure about it example. We will use, is the function authentication level we will republish our Azure function.

It will be a bit quicker now.

L

Betting should be okay in a second there. It is it's published. We will redo our API call, and now we see that it's unauthorized, because we didn't provide the key. So we'll go back to our Azure function portal and, as you can see here in the left, you have app keys, and here you can see we have two keys, the master and the default key.

We can show that value and we can copy it and if and then we can do our call with the query string of code is and then we just paste that code when we click on send now you see, it's gives us an okay and we have the response meshes. You don't have to put it as a question.

You can also put it as an X function. Key header parameter. So if you put it there and we click on send, then we get also a 200 okay message back and the third one is the admin. Oh wait just forgot, you have two options. You have the the function key from here, but you also can have multiple functions in your Azure function and they have a separate key. So if we go to the function itself, you can see that the function itself also has a default key.

You see, that's that's that's a different one, but that's something you can also use. So if, for example, we replace this other key, every click on send that also works and the last one the admin big publish it we're going to let it publish in the meantime, we will already get our key. Now you see the function as only a default key, not a master key.

The master key is only present in in the header function portal itself, so it click if we click here um going first, what we are going to do to show is we're going to copy the default key back again and we will go into.

When we do now, we send, you will see an unauthorized because admin doesn't accept the defaulty just only the master key. So now we're going to copy the master key you're going to use that one everyone to click sends and there we go. We have successful API call after that. You also have the identity provider for the identity provider. You have to set your authorization level to Anonymous, so we're going to we're going to Anonymous I'm going to publish it.

In the meantime we're going to set up our identity provider, we use identity provider. You have to um to use an appreciation, you don't create it separately, but you have to create it from forming your Azure function itself. So we click here on Authentication.

Okay, there we go now we can click on, add an identity provider.

Then here you can choose your identity provider, but for now we're going to select Microsoft we're just going to create a new appreciation. The name is already filled in nothing special here and you can choose what codes how to do, because you want to get back when you are not right for this one we're going to select for one 401 next is the permissions nothing special about this one, just user read this is, is enough? Are we going to add.

We just take a while there we go now we have our. We have our appreciation uh we and now we will go back to postman for this one. We click on the authorization tab and we're going to select all out to open 2.0 to get our access token. uh We just need a couple of uh of parameters. First of all, we need to call back your URL for that we go to our app registration. We click on it. We click on authentication and there you have your redirect URL.

You have to copy that one, and we use that one in here and we need to add a URL and the token URL. This one can be found at a start overview screen or your app registration at the endpoints. You see it out, URL, authorize and token here these two we needs, we gonna cost them in here any other one in here, and then we need a client ID and a client secret. The client ID is already present in the portal.

You can just copy it here: bank ID and then the client Secrets just going to create a new one. Now, that's there we go, we copy it blank secrets and then we just only need to scope. The scope. Is your client ID, followed by slash dot default so that one will be paste in here and now we can get our access token get access, token get the screen. Click on accept and authentication completes vehicle to proceeds and we get an access token back and we can click on use token.

What you see now in your API in the header you get an investment, adds an extra parameter authorization and then your Bearer space token. If you now click on send, you will see that it's it gets a successful, API response back. So that's it I hope you guys learned a lot about it. So thank you for your uh for your time.

In the interest of time, we're going to move on to a new he's going to cover building Microsoft teams, bot for traffic details with open AI function, calling a nuke take it on over.

All right, okay, thank you very much, David right uh in this. uh In this session, we'll talk about uh tfl status, so tfl is transport for London uh status, um so we need uh this particular demo is a team sport uh which uses open, AI function calling and the tfl API in order to get the status of the transport in in London.

Now this particular sample uses the API provided by Transport for London, but that can be changed to any other City based on the based on the transport Department in that particular City right um quickly about myself, my name is anoop. I am an MVP in the Office 365 developer category and those are the links to my profile and blog and Twitter and GitHub.

You can follow me on those platforms if needed, and now this particular sample is based on an open, AI uh Port sample that was created by Lee Ford I'll, be uh you know, showing the link to that sample as well towards the end of the presentation. So what I've done is I've taken that sample as the base and then extended it by adding something called as function, calling which we'll have a look at in a minute? But let's take a look at the demo first and then we will understand the different concepts.

So what I have here is a teamspot uh and uh what we can do is we can ask this team support some questions now ignore all the questions that I've asked before uh just ask a new one. So in London we've got these different underground train lines. They have got different names like Northern line, Central Line, Circle, Line, Etc, so I'm just asking a question about the status of one of the lines, which is the northern line.

Now what happens is this request is sent to open Ai and then, along with that, the tfl API also comes into picture and then using the combination of both a response is returned based on the status of the line. So in this case it says that the the northern line, which is represented by that color, is in good service and then here over here, a funny message is added. As well now, if I ask another question as saying: can I take the circle line uh to go to the office again, the same thing happens.

This question is sent to open Ai and then using the combination of uh the API provided by Transport for London. uh The response is, is returned back now, just to confirm that uh it is correct. So if I just open the website of Transport for London, uh you can see that uh you know, in fact uh both Northern and circle are are on good service. Now earlier uh there were some delays on a line called as central line.

uh So whenever that's the case, uh you know the response is returned uh in a similar manner right. So that's the demo. uh Now, if I go back to the presentation and now the scope of this application, uh it is applicable to both open Ai and Azure openai in this particular sample. We are using open AI, but it can be easily switched to Azure, open AI as well and uh the the models. The open air models that are being used uh are GPT, 3.50, turbo or gpt4.

So, let's quickly understand what function polling is first, which is the main feature of this application and then understand how we are using it so function calling uh the way we can think of that is it. It extends the openai models, uh particular 3.5, turbo and gpt4. The way it does that is it understands the user intent based on the question and then tells uh what function to call.

So, for example, if we ask openai about the current weather, open AI comes back with the response saying I do not have access to the weather API or something like that, because it has been trained up until September 2021, so it can't give us the current weather information. But if we have some functions in our code which can give us the current weather or the weather forecast, then we can pass the names of the functions and what they do.

A nice description of those functions to open AI along without question, then open AI, looks at the question understands the intent of from that question and then tells us which function to call. So, for example, if we ask what the current weather is open, AIS tells us we need to call the function called, get current weather and then one once we we call that function get current weather. In our code we get the current weather, pass the response back to open, AI opening and then converts that into natural language and gives back the response.

So that's what function calling is so in this particular sample. Now. Imagine that uh this sample that I just showed you earlier did not have function. Calling now, if I ask a question to that, saying is the district line running so district line is another line in in London, um then open AI comes back saying uh it does not have access to real-time traffic information.

Now, with the introduction of function calling or lappiness we'll send that question e statistic: land running along with a couple of functions that we've got in our code, we'll just send the definition of this functions. uh Basically the name of the function, the arguments that it expects and the description of the of the function. So in this case, I've got two functions: get line status and then display line status. So, along with along with this question, we send this to open, AI opening.

It then understands the intent of the question and tells us that we need to call the get line status of function in our code and that function needs to be called with an argument of line ID with the value as District and what we do in our code is we call the getline status function, which in turn calls the the transport for London API and then, whatever response is returned from transport for London API, it's a Json. We send that Json back to open AI.

So in this case that Json has the name of the line and the status of the line then open AI interprets this Json data and says that the district line is something fine and then we take that response and then show that our application solution overview. So if we, if you take a look at the diagram from right to left, so we've got the themes client from there, we send our question to the Azure bot. The Azure board then sends the request to an Azure function.

uh So that's where the the the code runs and then the Azure function sends f, equals to open AI, uh open, AI response and then, ultimately, the response is sent back to the user in themes. Now we are using Azure functions as the back end uh over here for the bot, but uh even a web app can be used as well right, a quick code overview. So all this all this sample is present in the team's samples repository. uh The name of the sample is Port open, aitfl status.

What we have to do is we have to create a local settings file and then add the main things like the opening, I key and the model, and then the the app IDs and the passwords that are needed for the bot uh once setting up the app and open AI key is all explained in the readme once that is done, we've got this main file index dot. Yes, wherein we go ahead and create the team support uh I'm going through this code a bit quickly considering with time.

So what we do is we go ahead and create this uh something called as opening app messages, because these are the messages which we need to send to open AI. So, firstly, we create a system message saying uh what the how open AI should be here, in this case a tfl customer service agent, and then we get the user message in this case. What's the status of district line, we take those messages and then call openai and then in the helper file openai.ts.

What we have is a method called open AI, which uses openai library to call the open, AI method and over here we pass in the messages that we created earlier and something called as functions. So these are the the functions which we need to pass to open AI. In this case, a couple of functions, get line status and display line status and they've got a nice description as well, so open AI. What it does is it takes a look at the user question, understands the intent and then interprets which function to call.

This is just the definition of the function itself in a Discord, a description and some properties in this case only one property line ID, which is which has some fixed values that openai can return.

um And then what we do is we send all that to open AI get the response uh in the response uh open AI says we need to call the function name of the function. Is that and then those are the arguments uh that need to be passed to the function so which just parse that Json and then get the name of the function, get the arguments and then go ahead and call the function.

In this case we go ahead and call the dfl API by passing in the line ID, and then we want to get the status of that line. Once we get back the status. What we do is we take that Json and then pass that Json back to open, AI, open AI interprets that Json and then comes back saying yeah. You need to stop the execution now and then you need to display that particular message to the user.

So in summary, function calling is available in open, Ai and Azure open AI. It helps us provide structure output. This particular sample uses open AI, but I am planning to submit a pull request to use Azure open AI very soon, and these are some of the resources that are used as part of this demo. And thank you.
