people

powershell

operations

some
tricks
or
go
to
a
server
to
execute
the
powershell
on
the
server
that
didn't
exist
for

for
sharepoint
online,
and
it
will
never
come
because
that's
physically
technically
not
possible
to
actually
log
into

server

the
cloud
and
do
things
there.
So
that
is
the
the
killer
feature
of
pp.
Powershell
is
that
you
can,
wherever
you
are
as
long
as
you
have
an
internet
connection,
connect
to
your
online
environment
and
do
things
too.

two
areas

we

in

That's

and

Why
powershell?
Well,
it's
just
it's
a
convenience.
You
could
consider
installing
a
separate
package
for
teams.
I
mean
the
work
to
install.
That
package
is
not
that
much.

a
simple
command
to
execute
that
you
have
it
installed,
but
you
already
have
ppp
powershell,
it's
already
running,
if
you
want
to
integrate
it
nicely
in
one
script,
with
one
way
of
connecting
connecting
is
the
key
thing
with
all
these
powershell
libraries
that
you
always
have
to
connect
to
something
and
then
do
something,
and
if
you
want
to
use
pnp
powershell
to
do
things
at
site
level,
but
you
will
also
want
to
do
something
with
teams.
You
have
a
single
connection
to
share
instead
of
having
connecting
here
connecting
the
air
connecting
here
connecting
there.

Things
and
that
that
makes
perfect
sense,
there's
actually
two
follow-up
questions
over
there,
putting
you
on
a
spot
here
so,
first
of
all,
obviously
the
connectivity
and
connection-
I
think
that's
that's
one
of
the
the
things
which,
in
the
in
the
pmp
publisher,
has
been
really
thought
through,
rather
than
the
shipment
online.
Powershell
always
requires
an
interactive
logging
right
yeah,
so
it
doesn't
actually
support
an
authentication
options.
It
doesn't
support
security
and
secret
and
certification,
and
all
of
that,
what
about
bmp
powershell?
What
are
the
different
options
for
that.

Authentication,
you
have
mfa,
multi-factor,
authentication
setup,
you
know
where
you
log
in
and
then
you
have
to
confirm
it,
either
with
an
sms
code
that
you
get
or
with
the
authenticator
app
that
you
use.
So
when
you
have
that
kind
of
authentication
setup,
we
support
the
ability
to
log
in
with
a
web
login.

So
basically
we
pop
up
a
browser
for
you.
You
authenticate
there.
You
confirm
your
your
with
the
code
and
then
you're
authenticated.
That's
one
way
of
logging
in
the
other
way
is
with
the
credential
flow,
is
basically
its
username
password,
but
that
requires
a
an
app
registration
to
be
present
in
your
azure
id,
and
then
we
have.
Basically,
you
can
provide
your
own
one,
so
you
can
build
you
go
to
the
azure
id.
You
create
a
new
app
there
app
registration.

find
the
word
a
bit
the
terminology
a
bit
confusing
at
times,
because
when
you
say
app,
people
immediately
think
functionality
code
things
happening,
there's
nothing,
there's
it's
a
registration,
but
you
can
provide
your
own
app
registration
and
then
use
name
password
and
authenticate
through
that.
Just
delegate
access.
So
you
all
the
things
you
do
are
happening
under
the
identity
of
you.
You
logging
in
you
could
also
use
the
pre-registered
multi-tenant
app
that
we
have
as
pnp
provide
the
pnp
management
shell.

for
instance,
the
office
cli.

security,
but
that's
an
app-only
access,
basically,
so
that
it's
the
app
acting
as
an
identity
towards
the
server
towards
your
environment,
and
then
we
have
the

If
I

call
it
legacy,
authentication
with
client

register

your
tenant,
your
sharepoint
tenant
with
app
rec
new
combination,
but
that's
a
very
technical
story.

people
want
to
use
this
powershell
in
azure
functions
to
automate
operations,

this

models

supported
by
bmp
publisher

enable

can

non-interactive
way
sign
in
using
the
application
registration
of
that
right
now
related
all
on
all
of
this.
So
obviously
one
of
the
area
where
we
as
a
microsoft
are
investing
heavily
is
the
microsoft
craft.

Microsoft
craft
has
its
own
powershell,
so
I'm
putting
you
on
a
spot
here
and
the
the
the
craft
powershell
is
relatively
new
and
the
dmp
powershell
has
existed
already
five
years
and
it's
being
used
by
what
thirty
thousand
tenants
in
every
single
month
or
something
like
that
range
yeah,
yeah
yeah,
but
now
that
we
have
the
pmp
and
now
that
we
have
the
craft
powershell.
How
do
you
see
these
two
things?
Is
it
complementary?
Is
it
a
yeah,
the
the
future
direction
of
those
things.

so
that
I
think
there's
a
fundamental
difference
between
the
two
libraries
in
their
approach,
that
from
pnp
powershell,
where
what
we
call
scenario
based
is
that
basically,
a
single
command
can
do
multiple
things
behind
the
scenes,
whereas
the
graph
is
is
api.
Based.
If
I
wanted,
the
graph
commands
are
api
based,
they're,
basically,
a
direct
reflection
of
the
graph
api.

so
basically,
every
endpoint
has
its
corresponding
commandlet
and
and
everything
you
can
send
to
the
endpoint.
It
are
then
parameters
on
that
command
list,
but
that
that
requires
you
to
understand.
First
of
all,
the
graph
api
you

need

know
what
are
basically
what
is
available
now
they
have
a
nice
graph
explorer
to
help
you
to
figure
out
where
things
are,
but
still
it's
a
direct
reflection
where
pnp
powershell
is
doing
a
lot
of
the
things
like,

list

lot

processing
behind
the
scenes.
If
we
add
a
list
item
we
check
if
the
data
you're
inputting
is
valid
before
we
actually
create
the
item,
we
maybe
rewrite
the
data
in
a
bit
away,
because
actually

api
requires

data
in
a
different
format
and
then
you're
providing
it
so
those
kind
of
things
we
do
behind
our
serpent
power
cell.
You
could
obviously
do
the
same
thing
with
the
graph,
but
you
will
have
to
write
a
bit
more
complex
script
and
where
you
do
all
that
handling
yourself

challenge

they're
kind

operational

fulfilling

latest
releases

coverage
already
