kind

Where
do
you
come
from?
How
do
you
ended
up
actually
joining
the
microsoft
and
what
you
did?
What
did
you
do
before?
Moving
to
this

to
go
back
to
I
want
to
say
2002
right,
so
I
started
working
for
the
federal
government
of
canada,
so
the
city
I
live
in,
it's
actually
called
yano,
which
is
on
the
quebec
type
right.
So
for
those
of
you
that
don't
know
canada,
there's
canada,
that's
in
france.
This
is
the
region
I'm
from,
and
I'm
living
literally
five
minutes
from
ottawa,
which
is
the
capital,
and
this
is
normally
the
english-speaking
province
where
most
of
the
federal
buildings
are
located.

started
working
there
in
2002
as
a
student,
and
especially
I
worked
for
the
federal
government
for
almost
14
years.
Something
is
that,
starting
around
like
2014,
I
became
a
manager
in
the
government
and
when
you're
managing
the
government,
you
don't
have
time
to
do
hands-on
right.
Most
of
your
time
is
spend
doing
paperwork
dealing
with.

yeah,
it
was
great.
I
was
managing
a
team
of
about
20
people
at
the
time
we
had
a
pretty
good
relationship
and
you
know
at
worst.
I
figured
yes,
we
have
like
three
direct
reports
and
then
you
have
another
team
underneath,
but
it
didn't
work
well,
but
for
me
to
actually
be
able
to
keep
my
technical
edge,
which
is
really
where
my
passion
was,
I
had
to
go
and
do
overtime
every
night.
I
would
literally
do
seven
to
five
go
work
for
the
federal
government.

you

willing
to
give
it
a
try,
and
this
was
something
I
never
thought
of
doing
before,
but
we
had
an
office
in
ottawa
for
microsoft

an
employee
of
the
federal
government,

can
actually
take
two
years
leave

something

which
is
amazing.

I've
never
heard
of
that
anywhere
else,

exactly
you
can
take
up
to
two
years
and
go
try
something
else
and
if
it
doesn't
work
out,
they'll
bring
you
back
at
the
same
level
not
into
the
same
tune
but
they'll
bring
you
back
at
the
same
level.
So
I
figured

time
to
try

My
kids
were
five
and
seven
at

time

became
a
premier
field
engineer,
doing
fairpoint
devs
in
ottawa,

the

reactive,

became
more
proactive
where
we're
doing
a
lot
of
education,
we're
doing
a
lot
of
planning

customers

deployments,
moving

on.
That
was
back
in
20
late
2016.
that
made
it
jump
right
then
worked
as
a
phd
for
almost
five
years.

of
travel-
I'll

I
was
out
every
second
week,
probably,
and
then
I
became
for
when
back
in
march
march,
4th
2020,
my
manager
stepped
out.
He
accepted
another
role
at
microsoft
and
he
asked
me
to
step
in
as
an
acting
for
him
to
snag
his
assistant.
At
the
time
we
had
a
school
of
about
30.
I
want
to
six
30
people,
a
myth
of
consultant
and
smear
field.
Engineer,
guess
what
happened
the
week
after
I
decided
to
take
the
the
new
role
the
pandemic
hit
us
right.

this
big
reward
where
mcs

putin
split
became
a
different
organization,
and
I
got
back
to
being

uccs

now
called
customer
engineer.
I
did
that
for
another
six
months
and
for
a
long
time,
I've
always
been
interested

program
management
side

things.
The
challenge,
so
the
the
urban
myth
is
that
you
need
to
be
in
seattle
to
do
program
management
right,
and
this
is
actually
hey-
hey,
hey,
no
exactly.

one
point
I
was
doing
the
microsoft
dev
podcast
with
jeremy
and
paul
and
at
the
end
of
it
I
just
asked
jeremy,
I'm

balance

team

change

team

success
of

microsoft
in
the
future.

it's

really
good
that
there's
enough
people
of
managing
that
and
making
sure
that
the
future
direction
is
looking
really
good
on
top
of
the
feature
growth.

because
your
team
and
jeremy's
team
is
kind
of
the
coordination
team,
around
and
yina's
organization
is
kind
of
the
coordination
team
and
and
then
there's
a
engineers
from
the
feature
cruise
teams
doing
some
of
the
work
as
well.

before
we
go

other
things,
I
actually
wanted
to
go
back
in
our
bfe
time
frame
and
the
mcs,
because
one
of
the
things
does
I'm
an
xmcs
and
I'm
an
ex-services
person
as
well.
I
used
to
work
eight
years
as
a
consultant
and
I
would
yeah
pre-nick
that
that's
actually
one
of
the
let's
say
hidden
gems
of
microsoft,
because
at
least
from
my
perspective,
it's
it's
one
of
those
organizationals
which
nobody
knows
externally,
that
much
spfes
as
an
example.

it

joined
community

was
a
sharepoint
depth
right
and
I've
always
said
it
from
the
beginning,
being
a
spare
point,
specialist
means
being
a
generalist,
there's
so
many

you're
kind
of
I
don't
want
to
say
thrown
under
the
bus,
but
that's
almost
what
it
is
right.
You're
going
up
at
a
customer
where
to
have
problem-
and
you
don't
know
what
your
day
is
going

look
like

it
going

be
an
infrastructure
problem,
or
is
it
actually
going
to
be
a
custom
code
problem,

is
it
something
in
the
product

interesting.
People
use
that
word,
but
it's
also

need
to
know
the
product
inside
out

It's
not
like
we're
not

customer
expects
you

know

I
said,
the
role
evolved

used
to
be
very
reactive.

it

role
was
going

get

on
a

sunday,
because
the
customer,
at
the
other
end
of
the
continent,
has
a
problem
and
they're
waiting
for
you

monday
morning
for
a
thing
for
you
to
go
and
troubleshoot
there
is
to
it.
It
changed
quite
a
lot
right.

think
a
lot
of
customers
now
were
using
here
mcs
to
actually
make
sure
they
were
building
the
right
things
from
the
get-go
right,
just
as
guidance
have
somebody
in
there,
and
even
sometimes
right
just
be
able
to
double
check
things
right.

go
and
say:
look
we're
going
to
pass
it
by
microsoft.
Right
so
can
you
guys
go
and
validate
that
we're
doing
the

right
thing

thing
with
it

I'm
seeing
it
like
firsthand
right
now
now
that
I'm
interested
in
is
that
oh
mcs,
everybody
in
services
they're
in
the
field
right
they
are
experiencing
our
products
first-hand
right.
So
when
customers
are
struggling
to
things,
your
pc
are
like
they're,
seeing
it
right
there
right.
So
it's
really
good
for
without
that
connection,
back
to
the
product
group,
where
look,
we
need
feedback

on
the
product
right
like
what's
working,
what's
not
working
and
these
guys
are
seeing
it
firsthand.

thing
that
I'm
interested

especially
as
you

back
in
the
days
pfes,
were
very
much
like
coming
to
customers,
troubleshoot
their
environments
and
back
then
many
environments
were
on-prem
and
customers
would
do

wildest
things
with
them
like
they
would
change
things
and
then
they
would
feather
it
off
and
they
would
do
kerbers
and
whatnot
like
20
million
things.
So
to
what
degree
do
you
see
like
that
changed
over
the
years?

definitely

you
were
seeing
brands
paint

I
mean
people
were
focusing
more
on.
I
want
to
say
I
was
a
dev
person
right,
so
people
were
focusing
more
and
more
on
what
I
call
citizen
dev
process.

like
things

foreign,
build
like
something
sweet,
you
were
seeing
less
and
less
traditional
dev
work
being
done
as
folks
were
moving.
That's
one
thing
I
saw
there,
but
yes,
less
customization
as
well.

cloud

being
the
specialist
in
on-prem
and
then
I
said:
no,

I'm
gonna!

how
do
I
jesus

moving.

been

industry

general

obviously,
last
year,
kind

think,
pushed
over
everybody
to

cloud

required

movement

still

mindset.

nowadays
everybody
is
kind

accepting
that

cloud,

see
