allows
communicators

engage
people

the
organization

really
a
way
to
keep
everyone
up

the
organization.

where,
ideally,
all
of
your
employees
are
going
to
start
their
day
and
then
finally,
we
have
hub
sites
and
hub
sites
are
a
way
to
organize
your
internet,
but
at
the
same
time
be
able
to
easily

quickly
restructure

internet

inevitable
organization
change
occurs.

my

has
a
special
visual
treatment
behind
the
site,

similar
to
what
you
see

with
the
highlighting
that
indicates
that
the

and
draws
the
audience

are
some

The

a

designated

expands
to
the
entire
organization.

automatically

a

news.
As
a
reminder,
that
means
that
when
a

the

And
additionally,
wherever
that

sort

internet

and

modern
sharepoint.
It's
really
easy

you

spin

but
just
creating
these
sites
is
not
enough.
You
want
to
be
able
to
organize
and
connect
them
across
your
internet,
and
you
do
that
with
sharepoint
hubs.

employees
come

contribute
to
the

company
and,
as
you
can
see,
the
gift
team
has
put
in
a
lot

time

effort
into
designing

reason
that

invited

quite
frankly
was
the
relationship
that
the
two

you
have
working
together
on
your
internet.

think
it's
a
really
good
example
of
how
I
t

ian
you're,
representing
that
that
part
of
the
organization
can
work
with
the
business,
in
this
case
janine
from
a
marketing
standpoint,
to
deliver
an
amazing
internet
to
the
organization
and
and
to
its
employees.

at
that
particular
point,
we're
very
focused
on
our
cost
cost
basis
as
a
bank,
and
it
largely
provided
us
with
with
a
challenge
to
effectively
get
maximum
usage
of
of
the
various
contracts
that
we
had
and
specifically
on
the
microsoft
contract.
We
felt
that
we
weren't
able
to
get
full
value
of
the
software
that
we're
entitled
to
at
that
particular
point,
and
we
opted
to
take
a
sabbatical
for
a
number
of
years
and
that
actually
helped
us
quite
a
lot.
By
the
time
that
we
opted
to
return
into
the
microsoft
fold.

know
there's
a
number
of
different
stakeholders
and
colleagues
that
you
need
to
bring
along
and
one
of
the
things
that
I've
observed.

it's
so
important
to
make
sure
that
everyone,
that's
participating
in
your
project,
is
fully
grounded
in
the
art
of
the
possible
without
this
people
won't
bring
their
best
ideas
forward
or
there
could
be
some
missed
opportunities.

know
we're

talking
about
how
you
can
start
to
envision
different
scenarios
using
the
technology,
but
I
think
that
is
such
a
powerful
approach
to
making
sure
that
you're
getting
the
most
out
of
what's
possible
with
an
intranet
so

maybe
to
share
a
little
bit
about
some
of
the
challenges
that
you
encountered
along
the
way
I
I
know
it
wasn't
all
smooth
sailing.
No
large
project
like
this
ever
is.
If
you
could
share
a
couple
challenges
that
that
were
most
prominent.

So
who
looks
after
them,
which
means
that
you've
got
different
levels
or
standards
that
you
you're
sitting
with
a
lot
of
environments
were
built
and
then
left
as
ghost
towns.
So
they
were
built
used
to
maybe
once
or
for
a
project
or
something
and
then
just
left
there,
and
then
they
were.
They
were
publishing
environments
and
there
were
little
or
no
governance,
privacy
and
security
controls
weren't
put
in
place.

There
was
no
universal
look
and
feel
so
completely
fragmented,
ux,
then
finding
the
site
owners
when
we
started
digging
was
was
a
bit
of
a
nightmare.
It
was
a
tough
job
there
because
we
needed
to
understand
and
determine
what
content
we
needed
to
migrate,
obviously
and
yo
where
to
migrate
to
so
so
here's
the
thing,
not
everything
should
be
a
publishing
environment.
E
Not
everything
should
sit
as
a
true
internet
environment,
there's
other
microsoft,
technology
and
solutions
in
place
that
can
house
and
and
look
after
closed
spaces
and
as
content
repositories,
etc.
So
we
needed
to
to
find
and
go
through
all
of
that
and
then,
as
I
said,
the
multitude
of
tech
stacks
that
also
meant
that
there
was
no
easy
way
for
us
to
migrate.

Now
you
wanted
to
know
how
we
dealt
with
these
challenges,
so
in
the
techno
technology
space
we
looked
at
what
stats
we
could
find
that
was
in
place,
and
that
was
a
challenge
by
itself
to
understand
the
usage
on
platforms.
So
what
we'll
be
dealing
with?
We
did
an
order
to
outline
for
us
whether
environments
were
true
publishing
environments
or
internet
space,
spaces
versus
just
project
spaces,
one
self-use
environments,
content
repositories,
etc.

So
we
we
we
put
them
into
baskets,
went
to
in
into
your
baskets,
and
we
looked
at
the
different
maturity
levels,
so
the
country's
business
lines
and
corporate
functions
and
where
we
understood
which
areas
would
need
the
most
effort
or
hand-holding
for
us
to
almost
operate
as
as
a
shared
service
versus
which
areas
would
be
able
to
assist
best
in
co-creating
their
play
platforms
and
then
take
on
the
content
management
after
after
delivery
from
us.
So
yeah,
that's
very.

When
working
on
a
new
internet
project,
there's
a
lot
that
you're
going
to
discover
in
terms
of
other
technology
being
used,
and
it's
a
really
good
opportunity
to
consolidate
and
rationalize
onto
onto
a
single
platform
and
to
speak
to
you
know
with
one
voice
to
to
the
company.
I
know
ian
from
our
prior
conversations.

One
of
the
challenges
that
you
had
shared-
and
I
found
quite
interesting-
was
finding
this
balance
between
satisfying
the
needs
of
the
end
users.
Ultimately,
the
employees
themselves
and
the
stakeholders
that
had
requirements
as
well
for
for
the
internet
and
sometimes
how
that
could
create
some
some
tension.
Could
you
share
a
little
bit
more
about
what
you
mean
by
that.

matt
there's,
there's
always
a
delicate
balance
between
the
business
need
and
and
that
of
of
employees,
and
traditionally,
we've
certainly
observed
that
their
businesses
often
assume
that
they
know
what
the
employees
want
and
what
employees
need.
So
there's
the
delicate
balance.
I
suppose,
in
a
program
of
this

you've
got
to
be
able
to
service
the
business
need
to
provide
the
content
in
a
way
that
the
employees
will
actually
consume
it.
So,
as
as
part
of
that,
as
a
bank,
we
we've
certainly
had
to
focus
on
probably
two
dimensions.

it's
not
unlike
what
we
would
do
in
our
in
our
current
personal
daily
lives
around
configuring
news
feeds,
be
it
summing
through
sports
or
more
current
news,
and
we
opting
to
give
employees
those
choices
as
well,
so
that
the
content
that
they
get
presented
with
is
relevant
for
them,
and
we
found
that
that
balance
is
working.
Quite
well.

That's
such
an
important
point
that
you
make
ian
about
engaging
end
users
in
the
process
and
making
sure
that
their
voice
is
heard
in
the
design
and
delivery
of
of
an
intranet
whatever
the
digital
experience
is
even
if
it's
not
the
intranet,
it's
so
critical
to
having
the
end
user
front
and
center
and
too
many
times.
I
see
that
missed
myself,
and
it
definitely
has
a
negative
impact
on
on
the
digital
experience
that
you're
you're
building.

yeah,
we
we've
certainly
seen
situations
where
we
spent
a
lot
of
time
and
efforts
in
pre-defining
what
we
thought
employees
would
want.
So
one
example
was
a
news
feed.
We
spent
a
lot
of
time
in
getting
those
resources
out
to
employees,
but
we
weren't
finding
them
go
there
frequently.
So
as
a
result
of
that,
we
we
eventually
round
down
that
part
of
the
the
internet
site
and
I
think,
we've
lent
more
heavily
towards
the
self-service
options.

Yeah
the
importance
of
iteration
based
on
those
learnings
is
also
a
key
principle
of
a
successful
intranet
or
any
experience
for
that
matter.
