Recording of the SharePoint - SPFx and JavaScript (client-side) development Special Interest Group community call from March 12, 2020.
Latest updates include: PnPjs v2.0.3 released February 14th, PnP Office 365 CLI version 2.8 with commands for spfx doctor released. React Controls - Beta 1.17 available and React Property Controls 1.17.0 released. Just released - new SharePoint look book template - Building a crisis communications site to connect people and information. Reminder: print and video tutorials and training materials for SharePoint Framework 1.10 available.
Three demos are delivered in this session. 1) Building custom SPFx Twitter web part delivered by Alex Terentiev. This is a customizable React Twitter web part you can add to your page to display tweets on a timeline. 2) Using application customizer to add new header extension. Martin Hatch has created a site collection (scope) focused JS web part for customers with extremely focused content with loads of custom metadata that is not relevant at tenant level (Microsoft Search scope). 3) Building enhanced commenting web part with SPFx. Sudharsan Kesavanarayanan's advanced comments box web part using SPFx with jQuery Plugin. Robust capability set includes: comment classifications/sort by, add attachments, see previews, like and reply to comments, hash tag and ping users, icon for new comments.
This call included a 10-minute rapid fire Q&A session with questions ranging from Parker’s Place, to SPFx 1.11 Roadmap, Teams templates and more.

absolutely
get
it

we

fix

situation

kind

one

things
where
it's
really
hard
to
communicate

it

heard

redmond
office
is
currently

closed,

people
are
working
remotely
and
unfortunately,
the
people
in
Redmond
and
in
Washington
state
they
are
not
actually
that
used
to
working
remotely
and
that's
actually
causing
some
delays
on
on
all
of
our
plans.
So
we'll
see
how
the
situation
evolves,
but
everybody
is
working
really
hard
on
providing
you
additional
additional
capabilities
and
I
do
agree
on
Ralph's
comment
on
the
chat.

ironic
that
the
people
who

implementing
these
tools
for
you
to
collaborate,
for
example
with
me
remotely,
are
not
that
familiar
of
working
remotely,
but
it's

irony
itself
and
but

think
in
the
long
run.

can
evolve
and
improve
those
tools
as
