I
I
rise

solidarity
of
international
day
for
the
elimination
of
racial
discrimination,
which
is
a
holiday
announced
by
the
united
nations
every
single
year,
growing
up
in
a
mixed
family
with
parents
whose
skin
represents
the
diversity
of
our
great
state.
I
knew
what
discrimination
was
before.
I
knew
that
there
was
a
word
to
describe
it.
F
I
knew
it
when
a
six-year-old
me
walked
on
the
school
bus
with
my
brother
and
was
bullied
by
kids,
much
bigger
and
much
older
than
me,
and
told
that
we
could
not
sit
next
to
one
another
on
the
bus
because
of
our
contrasting
skin
colors.
I
knew
when
I
was
told
that
I
had
to
sit
at
the
back
of
the
bus
because
of
my
skin
color.
I
knew
what
discrimination
was
the
moment.
Children
told
us,
it
was
illegal
for
our
parents
to
be
married.
F
F
This
body
must
work
to
end
systems
of
oppression
that
are
ingrained
in
the
architecture
of
the
building
in
which
we
sit
on
friday,
my
colleague
from
assembly
district
19
called
for
this
nation
to
do
more
to
end
the
dehumanizing
practice
of
putting
children
in
cages.
I
commend
my
colleague
from
8019
for
recognizing
that
this
nation
must
do
more
to
celebrate
immigrants
and,
as
representatives,
we
must
take
bold
action
here.
In
nevada,
xenophobia
has
no
home
in
nevada,
hardworking
nevada
immigrants
are
the
backbone
of
this
state
and
must
be
celebrated.
F
Today
I
stand
in
solidarity
with
the
lives
lost
in
georgia
to
racial
discrimination
and
a
more
committed
now
than
ever,
to
promoting
policies
that
end
the
discrimination
in
our
great
state.
I
urge
my
colleagues
to
consider
the
impact
of
racial
discrimination
as
we
fight
for
all
hard-working
nevada
families.
E
E

A
G
As
a
child,
I
remember
hearing,
sticks
and
stones
may
break
my
bones,
but
words
will
never
hurt
me.
I
believe
that
to
be
true,
but
looking
back
even
then
mean
spiteful
and
evil
words
did
hurt,
you
see
words,
inspire
thought,
thought
creates
opinions
and
opinions
can
lead
to
actions
as
an
adult.
We
have
all
witnessed
the
actions
of
ill-spirited
words,
which
have
led
to
painful
and
even
deadly
actions.
G
Words

atmosphere

case
baffling
many
nationwide,
when

one
was
found
responsible
for
the
bullet
that
killed
an
innocent
black
woman,
a
public
servant
in
the
middle
of
the
night
in
her
own
home,
yet
the
stray
bullet
that
entered
her
white
neighbor's
apartment
resulted
in
discipline
during
the
31st
legislative
special
session.
Legislators
in
this
building
unanimously
voted
for
scr1,
which
was
a
measure
urging
certain
actions
to
address
the
public
health
crisis
caused
by
systemic
racism.
G
We
are
determined
to
implementing
the
words
within
that
resolution
and
committed
to
address
and
combat
this
public
health
crisis,
with
legislation
being
introduced
by
this
membership's
body
for
generations.
Words
have
been
used
to
pit
us
against
one
another.
Today
we
come
together
against
racism
and
oppression
and
we
say
no
more,
no
matter
my
sister's
race,
my
brother's
color.
They
are
my
sisters
and
brothers
and
we
will
band
together
against
hate
until
the
last
weapon
formed
against
us
all
is
defeated.

Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
Mr
it
is
great
to
see
you
back
at
the
dyess
I'd
like
to
commend
you
for
your
grace
and
dignity
in
the
situation
and
know
that
you
will
make
a
full
recovery.
I
personally
have
conducted
hundreds
of
tests
over
the
years,
encourage
all
men
to
follow
the
recommended
testing
guidelines.

Yesterday
was
my
mother's
birthday,
so
I
wanted
to
wish
a
happy
birthday
to
my
mom
sally
yeager.
She
is
in
michigan
and
she
often
watches
judiciary
committee
meetings,
and
I
know
that
she's
watching
here
this
afternoon.
So
if
you
could
please
welcome
or
please
join
me
in
a
round
of
applause
for
my
mom
and
her
birthday
yesterday,
happy
birthday,
mom,
happy.
A
I
want
to
take
a
point
of
personal
privilege
to
thank
everybody
for
your
thoughts
and
support
for
those
of
you
that
were
sorry
for
what
I
would
have
to
go
through.
Just
know
that
I'm
grateful
that
I
caught
it
early
and
I'm
able
to
tell
a
story,
and
so
I
appreciate
it.
I
also
appreciate
the
sentiments
expressed
on
the
floor
today.
C
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
I
do
have
an
announcement
for
the
body
on
this
thursday
march
25th.
We
will
have
the
state
of
the
judiciary
address
delivered
to
us
by
chief
justice,
james
hardesty.
It
will
be
held
at
5
pm
in
the
assembly
chambers.
So
just
so,
you
know
how
this
is
going
to
look
we'll
be
hosting
the
chief
justice
and
you'll
see
him
at
the
chief
clerk's
podium
and
then
the
senate
will
be
seated
in
their
chamber
and
they
will
watch
the
our
broadcast
live
at
the
same
time.
