Thank
you,
madam
president,
pro
tem.
If
everyone
from
Nevada
State
College
would
stand,
please
Nevada
state
college
has
provided
exceptional
higher
education
to
the
Southern
Nevada
Community
for
the
past
two
decades,
since
its
establishment
is
Nevada's,
First

on
September

Nevada
state
has
provided
crucial
opportunities
to
underserved
student
populations
has
demonstrated
a
strong
commitment
to
academic
excellence
and
now
offering
more
than
45
degree
programs.
H
Nevada
state
has
become
a
vital
part
of
the
Southern
Nevada
Community
contributed
to
its
social,
cultural,
economic
vibrancy
and
serving
as
a
Beacon
of
Hope
and
opportunity
for
generations
of
students
to
come
and
at
7
400
alumni
as
it
celebrates
its
20th
anniversary
year.
Please
help
them
feel
welcome.
L
Thank
you,
madam
President
Pro
Temp
before
I.
Do
the
group
introduction
I
wanted
to
very
quickly
introduce
the
folk
who
are
joining
me
if
I
could
have
jaid
and
Noemi?
Please
stand.
They
are
both
constituents
of
Senate,
District,
Two
and
they're.
Actually
neighbors
of
mine
I've
many
times
have
counted
on
them
to
help
me
and
they
always
put
up
signs.
My
dogs
have
escaped
and
somehow
ended
up
on
their
property
before
and
vice
versa.
So
it's
always
an
honor
to
be
able
to
have
neighbors
and
constituents
here,
just
phenomenal
human
being.
L
Thank
you
and
I.
Also
I
I
have
the
distinguished
honor
of
doing
the
group
introduction
I
think
we
have
some
of
their
energy
earlier
today.
We
heard
it
both
in
this
Gallery
but
they're
all
over
the
legislature.
Today,
the
Nevada
housing
Justice
Alliance
is
a
coalition
of
Grassroots
organizers
and
Community
Advocates,
who
work
directly
with
the
Nevada
tenants
to
develop
Solutions
and
advocate
for
Community
Investments
That
solve
the
root
causes
of
Housing
and
security.
They
believe
housing
is
a
human
right
and
that
a
home
serves
a
higher
purpose
than
just
shelter.
L
They
are
thrilled
to
gather
tenants
and
community
members
from
across
the
state
to
be
here
in
the
legislature
in
Carson
City
for
their
advocacy
day.
If
you
could
all
please
rise
and
I'll
finish
by
saying
through
their
Collective
efforts,
the
Coalition
are
working
to
directly
impact
tenants
and
are
fighting
for
tenant
protections,
neighborhood
stability
and
eviction
reform.
If
you
could
give
them
a
quick
Round
of
Applause.
L
And
I
had
a
lot
of
guests:
I
apologize
if
Carl,
if
I
could
have
you
just
rise,
also
a
good
friend
of
mine,
who's
here
and
works
with
make
the
road
Nevada
working
on
empowering
communities
working
with
immigrant
coalitions.
So
thank
you
for
being
here
as
well.
If
you
could
give
her
a
round
of
applause.
Thank
you.
M
Thank
you.
Madam
president,
today
I
have
with
me
a
very
special
guest.
A
family
friend
I,
have
with
me
Sylvia
who's,
an
organizer
for
Culinary
Union,
Local
226,
so
Sylvia
actually
worked
15
years
at
the
Stratosphere
Hotel
Casino,
which
is
the
same
casino
that
my
dad
and
my
grandma
have
worked
with.
So
she
was
out
there,
organizing
my
parents,
of
course
she
has
knocked
on
doors.
M
She
has
communicated
she's
the
translator
for
a
lot
of
the
town
halls,
and
so
many
of
the
folks
that
are
here
today
are
because
of
her
efforts,
and
you
know
I
think
in
speaking
with
my
family,
we're
eternally
grateful
for
the
work
that
Sylvia
has
done
and
it's
a
pleasure
to
see
her
on
the
senate
floor
with
me
today.
So
please
join
me
in
welcoming
her.
N
Thank
you
very
much.

Madam
president,
pro

I
have
a
friend
who's
joining
me
actually
in
the

Katie
Weber.
If
you
would
stand
and
her
daughter
Jill
is
also
here
and
she
didn't.
Let
me
know
that
she
was
coming
in
advance,
but
she's
been
a
long
time
friend
of
mine.
We
have
a
number
of
kids
who
are
the
same
age
she's,
a

in
my

at
Roy

and
she's,
one
of
