The Switch Media Manager enables upload, archive, edit, and delivery to multiple online devices for world-class streaming and VoD solutions. In this Enterprise Conversation, Szasza Palmer describes how Node.js powers their API Gateway, which handles a peak load of over 50,000 requests per minute. Node.js offered the performance and flexibility to handle this load with the fewest server resources than any other alternative.

Node.js Foundation Enterprise Tech Conversations focus on taking a deep dive into topics and themes that impact Node.js users, like security.

In our first tech conversation, we talk with Mike Samuel who works on Google’s IFC hardening team, which is a part of Google’s security engineering team. This team focuses on frameworks, libraries and programming languages, and tries to improve them and make it easier to produce secure and robust software.

Tierney Cyren, a developer advocate at NodeSource and a host to this show, talked to Mike about a wide plethora of topics around security in the Node.js ecosystem. A few of the topics included:
- What kinds of questions should project managers be asking their architects and developers about security?
- How to best manage dependencies from a security lens with Node.js?
- What kind of security problems should developers expect frameworks to solve?
- What emerging threats might development teams need to start planning for?
- What new features might help development teams manage security?

Stay tuned for more of these conversations! If there’s a topic you want us to cover for this series, please reach out to pr@nodejs.org.
