From YouTube: KEYNOTE- The Node Movement and How to Play a Part
Description
KEYNOTE- The Node Movement and How to Play a Part- Matteo Collina and James Snell, nearForm
As with every significant movement, the node movement will be marked in the history books. This talk covers how open source is really an art and best practices in making it a sustainable art throughout time.

A
B
The
contributions
to
know
GS
is
really
why
I
came
to
the
company
just
in
2017,
the
the
near
formers
involved
with
core
have
been
responsible
for
8%
of
the
commits.
This
may
be
about
three
or
four
of
us
responsible
for
those
and
have
reviewed
66%
of
all
the
pull
requests
that
come
through.
It's
a
massive
amount
of
volume
just
going
in
there
and
reviewing
that
code.
A
So
not
a
yes
is
born
from
the
community.
It's
it's
it's!
Why
it
we
are
all
here
and
why
we
are
contributing,
where
you're
working
on
modules,
why
we
are
building
applications
from
the
small
shops
in
a
remote
place
of
the
world.
That's
just
using
our
technology
to
make
a
living
to
the
big
big
corporations
that
are
using
them
and
we
want
to
support
all
of
it.
Our
message
is
how
to
make
open
source
viable.
So
how
can
we?
A
B
The
thing
that
makes
note
special
know
it,
so
it's
always
been.
There
is
the
fact
that
it's
it,
it
comes
from
the
community
comes
from
the
users.
It
comes
from
the
individual
contributors,
it's
not
owned
by
any
single
corporate
entity.
There
is
no
carpet
steward
anymore
right
and
it
evolved
to
the
point
where
now
we
have
the
foundation
it's
out
there.
The
community
owns
that
the
community
drives
it
forward
and
it's
the
only
platform
of
its
kind,
where
that
is
completely
true.
B
The
people
that
that
contribute
to
node
and
just
open
source
in
general
are
artists
right.
It's
a
it's
an
art
platform
that
we're
that,
were
you
know
that
we're
all
contributing
to
alright,
and
that
is
with
the
one
thing
that
makes
no
truly
special.
So
you
know
this
isn't
the
slide?
I
mean
it's
it's
kind
of
silly,
but
you
know
it
just
points
to
the
fact
that
you
know
it
is.
It
is
an
art
project
right.
Yes,
it's
for
business.
A
Jay,
yes,
one
key
part
of
note
is
now
that
note
is
more
than
500
thousand
modules,
the
Turin
MPN
that
compose
our
ecosystem
and
we
can
draw
a
parallel
from
what
it
happened
in
the
node
community
back
in
the
early
days
to
to
what
happen
in
the
impressionist
movement
back
in
France,
all
the
Impressionists
came
out
were
hanging
out
at
a
cafe,
and
this
is
a
picture
from
from
not
confit
you
2000
and
2013
and
I.
Remember
when
sub
stack
put
his
hat
put
his
napkin
on
ISA
and
his
head
and
everybody
followed
through.
A
There
is
a
major
difference,
however,
back
in
the
back
in
the
days.
So
the
one
of
the
major
question
is:
who
is
the
patron
of
all
this
art
and
in
fact
we
can?
There
is
a
biggest
question
about
art
versus
industrial
design.
So
how
can
we
move?
How
can
we
make
all
these
artists
being
created
and
was
created
sustainable?
How
can
we
move
from?
How
can
we
create
something
beautiful
and
still
making
it
possible
to
sustain
it
over
time?
A
B
There
is
a
difference
between
commercializing
art
in
a
way
that
supports
the
artist
versus
doing
it
in
a
way
that
exploits
the
artist
right.
There's
there's
plenty
of
examples
out
there
where
companies
are
using
open-source
exploiting.
What
is
there
without
giving
back
to
it
without
supporting
it
in
a
sustainable
way
near
form
takes
the
approach
of
you
know
they
want
to
be
a
patron
to
the
artist.
They
want
to
support
the
artists,
as
they
are
contributing
back
to
the
community,
not
coming
in
trying
to
own
the
platform.
A
B
A
B
Secure
the
analogy,
as
your
makes,
a
fantastic
gallery
to
hang
your
work,
it's
just
a
fantastic
platform.
Microsoft
has
made
some
amazing
strides
and
can
investing
in
in
supporting
open
source
within
you
know,
past
few
years
it's
been
an
amazing
amazing
turnaround
for
them
and
I
think
it's
I,
think
that
is
there
about
a
lot
of
credit
for
what
they've
done
so
so
as
a
call
to
action.
You
know
we're
doing
stuff.
We
have
you
know,
there's
there's
contributions
to
core
there's
support
for
the
industry.
B
There's
support
for
the
ecosystem,
the
modules
out
there,
it's
not
something
that
we
just
want
to
do
by
ourselves
right.
We
want
to
send
out
this
call
of
action
to
come
help
near
form.
Is
there
if
you
want
to
reach
out,
you
know
we'll
gladly.
You
know
sit
down
and
talk
with
you
and
do
something,
but
if
there's
other
ways
that
we
can
support
the
the
ecosystem,
if
you
have
ideas,
come
talk
to
us,
we're
gonna
be
at
the
booth.
B
A
B
A
Would
just
to
close
saying
that
to
come
to
talk
at
our
booth
again,
we
are
also
hosting
a
happy
hour
happy
hour.
At
the
end
of
the
day,
you
should
come
and
see
what
what
that
is
it's
going
to
be
nice.
We
are
going
to
find
of
a
P
by
the
way.
I,
don't
know
if
you
know
happy,
but
you
should
so
check
it
out
and
let's
see
that's
it
and
thank
you
all.
