From YouTube: Torus Community Meeting April 2022
Description
Monthly meeting to discuss Open Learning Initiative's next generation platform. In this meeting, an overview of the course migration plans (moving courses from legacy to the new Torus platform).
A
Hi
everyone
so
we'll
give
people
a
few
more
minutes
to
join
today,
but
aaron
won't
be
here,
so
I
will
be
taking
over
for
her.
A
I'm
wondering
if
I
did
my
sheen's
screen
share
correctly.
Are
you
seeing
yourselves
or
are
you
just
saying
that
you're,
not
migration,.
A
So
for
those
that
don't
know
me,
my
name
is
greg,
I'm
a
learning
engineer.
So
I
work
with
aaron
and
all
the
wonderful
people
here
at
oli.
A
C
A
A
Okay,
hi
everyone
for
those
that
just
joined
again.
My
name
is
greg.
I'm
taking
over
for
aaron
today,
she's
taking
the
day
off,
I'm
a
learning
engineer
at
oli
and
today
we'll
be
talking
about
migration
efforts
have
have
we
talked
about
my.
I
don't
attend
these
meetings
that
often
have
we
brought
up
this
the
topic
of
migration
in
the
past.
A
That's
that's.
That
makes
sense
given
where
we
are
in
the
process.
So
when
we
talk
about
migration,
we
are
talking
about
moving
all
content,
all
use
of
oli
from
what
we're
now
calling
the
legacy
platform,
which
you
all
know
as
ol
as
echo,
and
maybe
the
oli
delivery
side
all
to
taurus
taurus
being
able
to
handle
all
those
all
the
features
and
more.
A
A
Yeah
migrating
everything,
that's
like
literally
in
the
course
all
the
authored
content
and
then
and
then
the
other.
The
other
channel
is
delivery,
making
sure
that
you
can
manage
sections
the
way
you
expect
to
in
in
in
taurus
and
making
sure
that
your
the
learning
dashboard
is
built
out
the
way
that
you
need
it
to
so
that
you
can
deliver
your
courses
the
same
way
you
you're
used
to
with
the
legacy
platform.
A
A
This
automated
tool
set
that
particularly
eli
who's
on
the
call
and
some
of
the
other
devs
are
contributing
to,
and
this
will
be
a
you
know,
a
series
of
scripts
that
we'll
use
internally
to
process
your
courses
and
get
them
into
taurus
at
it's
almost
basically
the
touch
of
a
button,
and
so
we're
in
the
process
of
building
these
total
sets
and
keeping
them
up
to
date
with
taurus
and
over
time.
A
Taurus
and
migration
will
sort
of
be
in
lockstep
with
each
other.
Every
new
feature
in
taurus
will
be
able
to
be
migrated
from
legacy.
A
A
Everything
from
you
know,
conjugation
tags
to
embedded
questions
and
essays
and
question
pools
and
everything
and
on
the
left
is
where
those
are.
You
know
a
pie
chart
of
what
can
be
migrated
at
this
point
in
time.
The
feature
set
is
is
limited
at
this
moment,
but
again
we
are
working
to
get
this
so
that
all
of
these
are
will
be
fully
supported
over
time.
B
A
So
they
are
so
I
think
they
they
come
in
a
few
varieties.
Flash,
for
instance,
is
unsupported.
Forevermore,
video
and
vimeo
in
particular,
are
a
little
bit
up
for
question.
These
are
these
are
ones
we
are
specifically
talking
about
now.
C
Is
there
another
way
to
insert
a
video
in
taurus
youtube
links.
A
Right
now,
taurus
yeah
right
now,
taurus
supports
youtube
and
beds.
C
B
C
A
C
A
C
Yeah
and
actually
just
another
point
about
that:
we're
trying
to
move
away
from
youtube
videos,
because
we
don't
want
our
course
content
to
be
widely
exposed.
So
you
know
we're
starting
to
store
more
videos
on
servers.
I
see.
A
Okay,
we
will
certainly
take
that
note
down
and.
C
Question
greg
so
is
what's
pending
means.
A
You're,
currently
working
on
it
already
pending
means,
it
is
not
yet
available
for
migration,
so,
okay,
so
this
only
this
doesn't
track
in
progress.
Okay,
this
tracks.
What
is
what
is
done
and
what
is
not
done?
Okay,
so
supported
and
converted
are
kind
of
a
grouped
meaning.
We
can.
That
means
we
can
handle
those
pending
means.
It
is
on
the
docket,
but
not
necessarily
planned
out.
Quite
yet,
and
then
unsupported
is
even
that
is
seemingly
a
little
up
for
debate.
Gotcha,
okay,.
C
A
And
to
just
to
just
to
continue
this
statement,
we
are
in
the
discovery
fit,
so
we
are
right
now
we're
piloting
like
two,
maybe
three,
absolutely
simple
courses.
These
are
courses
that
are
about
you
know.
Maybe
a
dozen
pages
tops
they
use
some
really
simple
activity
types.
You
know
mostly
multiple
choice,
questions
and
things
like
that.
So
that
way
we
can
really
uncover
all
the
different
problems.
We
expect.
A
A
All
the
different
content
elements
are,
you
know
something
we
we
query
and
we
know
all
of
the
different
options,
but
with
the
delivery
features,
we've
we've
been
working
to
sort
of
build
out
a
spreadsheet
of
all
the
different
options
and
different
use
cases
and
even
different
audience
types
and
ultimately
we're
doing
this
to
make
a
better
plan
and
and
do
better
predictions,
so
we're
grouping
courses
by
features.
So
this
this
spreadsheet
is
a
a
sample
of
both
courses
and
and
of
activity
types.
A
So
this
is
by
no
means
all-encompassing,
but
this
is
sort
of
our
working
set
of
courses
that
are.
You
know,
example
of
a
variety
of
different
scales,
and
so
we're
we're,
starting
to
you,
know,
define
certain
phases.
This
sort
of
early
phase
is
these
couple
of
courses.
A
Some
are,
you
know,
ebberly,
some
are
other
cmu
uses
and
then
over
time,
as
we
build
out,
you
know
we'll
use
this
style
of
analysis
to
decide
which
features
we
build
next.
A
That
unlock
the
most
courses,
so,
for
example,
pagination,
is
something
we're
currently
working
on
right
now,
because
just
about
every
course
uses
it,
whereas
something
like
hot
spot
images
are
hot
yeah
hotspot
images
are
a
little
more
of
an
advanced
course
thing.
It
is
likely
the
case
that
the
majority
of
our
courses
fall
into
this.
Like
bigger
phase,
three.
A
But
that
is,
you
know
things.
A
Oh
yeah
again,
this
is
like
this
is
mostly
tracking,
complex
activities.
This
this
is.
This
is
not
meant
for
you
to
really
reference
at
the
this
top
this
top
bar,
but
this
is
this
is
something
that
we
we
find
useful
for.
Internally,
okay,
yeah,
we
can
do
images,
multiple
choice,
questions,
a
variety
of
text,
formatting
options,
none
of
those
are
really
captured
here.
This
is
just
sort
of
a
small
sample
of
more
complex
things.
B
Yeah
greg
something
I'm
looking
at
the
french
too,
doesn't
use
fill
in
the
blank.
We
use
a
really
old
converge
from
flash
version
of
a
fill
in
the
blank,
and
we've
been
talking
every
once
in
a
while
about
getting
the
functionality
that
we
are
using
in
the
fill
in
the
blank
into
the
oli
fill
in
the
blank.
A
I
see
that
might
be
a
case,
though
I'm
not
entirely
sure
that
might
be
a
case
where
it
falls
under
a
category
of
like
custom
activities
which
are
sort
of
bucketed
together.
A
So,
for
example,
something
something
notable
you
don't
see
across
the
top
here
is
drag
and
drop
activities,
and
that's
partially
because
drag
and
drops
aren't
coded
as
quite
their
own
activity.
They're
part
of
this
broader
set
of
custom
activities
that
are
yeah
kind
of
grouped
together.
A
D
So
I
can
see
that
our
course
is
included.
It's
student
cog
well.
A
A
D
So
that
means
is
the
survey
tool
which
you
guys
custom
created.
Is
that
item
11,
which
is
surveys
or
is
that.
E
A
A
Nope,
that
is
a
separate
item
and
that's
again
one
that
we're
currently
I
don't
reimagining,
doesn't
quite
capture
it,
but
reinterpreting
into
taurus.
We've
found
not
only
your
use
case,
but
we
found
several
other
use
cases
that
in
taurus
may
be
part
of
a
sort
of
a
a
new
survey,
broader
suite.
But
yes,
that
is
kind
of
its
own
item.
D
Okay,
so
it's
not
like
item
number
11.,
it's
something
else.
D
A
D
Okay,
so
I've.
A
So
a
key
point
here
is
that
we
will
come
to
you
when
you're
we
are
keeping
track.
We
are
not
only
uncovering
the
full
set
of
oi
courses,
which
is
its
own
process,
but
as
as
taurus
becomes
more
feature-rich,
we're
keeping
track
of
which
courses
can
be
migrated,
and
so
when
that,
when
that
becomes,
when
that
question
gets
answered,
and
we
say
okay,
yes,
this
course
can
be
migrated.
A
A
Yeah,
and,
and
so
something
that
is
publicly
available-
is
our
migration
kind
of
to-do
list
our
project
in
github
available
at
this
link,
where
you'll
see
over
time,
we
start
putting
more
and
more
content
elements
in
the
to-do
list
bucket
and
getting
those
accomplished
in
sort
of
this
phased
approach.
A
C
C
Where
you
all
are
at
with
that-
and
it
was
nice
to
know,
what's
happening
if
we're
making
new
courses,
what
should
we
be
keeping
in
mind?
I
have
some
authors
this
summer
are
working
on
arabic,
one
and
french
three
and
anything
that
we
should
be
keeping
in
mind
with
developing
new
courses
that
you
know.
A
We're
we're
still
actively
using
legacy.
The
support
for
the
technology
is
getting
more
and
more
limited,
but
the
reality
is
that
there
are
features
that
taurus
doesn't
have
yet
that
you
may
require
so,
for
example,
I
just
helped
some
suny
faculty
members
build
a
course
that
needed
survey
tools
and
so
that
that
course
we
had
to
do
in
in
legacy
so
yeah
by
all
means
continue
building
and
legacy,
but
know
that
the
simpler
you
keep
your
course.
The
sooner
we'll
be
able
to
migrate.
It,
though
we
do
intend
to
migrate.
D
C
A
So,
though,
so
yeah
so
that'll
be
part
of
the
conversation
we'll
have
is,
you
know,
make
making
sure
that
we
get
the
right
version
and
making
sure
that
we
we
align
the
timings
properly.
So,
for
instance,
if
you
have
a
course
that,
let's
say
it's
it's
october
of
this
year
and
we're
ready
to
migrate
a
course
that
you're
using.
A
And
that
that
course
isn't
expected
to
might
to
run
until
next
fall
until
fall,
23.
we
can
still
do
the
migration
and
then
all
forward
development
would
would
happen
in
taurus
so
that
the
next
calendar
cycle,
that
course,
is
ready
to
run
and
finish
out
the
year
using
legacy.
Does
that
answer
your
question?
Yeah.
C
D
I
think
you
said
that
there
would
be
future
conversations
about
the
actual
like
deployment
piece
and
how
that
will
be
different
than
it
is
now.
So
I
guess
I
don't
need
you
to
address
that
now
unless
you
want
to,
but
that's
one
of
my
largest
questions.
D
Yeah
exactly
like
seamlessly
using
the
way
we
seamlessly
currently
use
like
an
external
tool
to
to
get
into
oli,
cmu
and
people.
Do
this
very
different
ways,
depending.
A
A
D
A
Yeah
yeah
most
likely,
certainly
we
we
will
probably
revisit
migration
at
one
of
these
big
tourist
community
meetings.
Further
down
the
line,
I
don't
think
we
have
that
planned
out
yet,
but
as
we
get
further
and
further
into
this,
this
is
something
that
we
expect
to
have
more
conversations
about
in
terms
of
delivery
itself,
like
one
of
the
most
notable
differences
is
that
taurus
much
more
easily
connects
into
an
lms
than
legacy.
A
Taurus
changes
that
and
it
will
appear
much
more
seamlessly
within
the
lms
page.
I
don't
really
have
a
word
for
that,
but
that's
one
example.
So
there
there
will
be
some
differences,
but
overall
we
hope
it's
a
better
experience.
E
Yeah,
just
to
add
on
to
that,
taurus
tour
supports
the
lti
1
3
standard,
which
has
a
richer
feature
set
than
the
1.1
that
legacy
uses,
including
things
like
grade
pass
back
and
and
and
like
enrollments
within
the
course
showing
those
within
taurus
itself.
So
the
lti
story
is
richer
with
taurus
and
then.
In
addition,
we
also
do
have
what
we
call
direct
delivery
for
like
independent
learners
or
institutions
that
want
to
manage
outside
of
an
lms.
E
This
is
a
very
lightweight
not
intended
to
replace
an
lms,
but
but
just
a
very
lightweight
way,
to
deliver
a
corpse
using
taurus
without
having
to
go
and
set
up
an
lms.
If
your
institution
doesn't
have
one
that
supports
the
lti
one
three
standard
or
or
if
you
just
don't
have
an
lms
that
you
want
to
use.
D
E
D
Yeah,
absolutely
the
instructors
that
we
work
with
don't
want
the
their
current
gradebook
to
be
populated,
with
all
the
columns
that
are
intrinsic
in
our
course.
It
would
crowd
the
grade
book,
so
they
actually
prefer
for
us
to
just
look
at
completion
rates
separately
and
then
to
enter
a
column
in
in
their
lms
gradebook.
So
we
like.
E
Yeah,
so
that's
certainly
possible
to
do
with
the
direct
delivery
method
or
you
could
even
set
up
tourists
so
that
you
can
link
out
to
to
taurus
from
an
lti
setting
and
just
simply
not
pass
those
grades
back.
I
think
there's
a
switch
in
taurus
somewhere,
but
if
there's
not,
it
would
be
trivial
to
add,
there's
definitely
a
switch
to
not
in
the
in
in
lms
settings
to
not
to
not
allow
grade
pass
back
right.
E
So
if
you
can
figure
that
at
the
lms
level,
then
taurus
just
simply
can't
send
those
grades
back.
So
that's
one
way
to
do
it,
but
but
the
the
benefit
of
actually
using
lti
in
that
setting
is
that
you
don't
have
to
create
a
bunch
of
accounts
outside
of
the
system
that
the
students
will
automatically
be
enrolled
in
the
course
as
they
as
they
launch
over.
D
Yeah
we
love
that
feature
so
like
we.
We
love
how
it
currently
is
with
echo
where
we
just
basically
have
them
directly
access
the
course.
You
know
through
the
lms
using
that
external
tool.
So
that's
why
I
just
want
to
make
sure
there'll
still
be
a
way
for
us
to
do
it
kind
of
the
way
we've
always
done
it.
A
Okay,
well,
there
are
no
further
questions,
I'm
happy
to
call
it
a
day
get
on
with,
with
with
an
earlier
friday
and
again
I'll,
continue
echoing
this,
we'll
contact
you
about
migration,
but
if
you
have
concerns
or
specific
things
that
you
want
to
talk
about,
feel
free
to
contact
aaron
and
we'll
set
up
meetings
with
you.
C
Craig
you're
so
much
more
efficient
than
than
aaron.
A
I
thank
you.
