From YouTube: Remote Labs South Planning
Description
Recorded 17 May 2022.
B
B
It's
currently,
the
tech
is
located
in
one
of
the
buildings
within
a
20
acre
area
south
of
little
rock
arkansas.
A
Yep,
that
is
that's
a
challenge
that
we
don't
often
have
at
remote
lab,
but
remote
lab
east,
which
was
in
florida
literally
had
locusts
and
also
hurricanes
and
a
fire.
So
so
we
have
seen
all
sorts
of
different
challenges
and
out
here
in
the
west,
we
do
have
our
own
interesting
challenges
every
so
often
we
get
evacuated
for
massive
wildland
fires.
A
I
and
there's
always
the
potential
for
a
gigantic
earthquake
or
yeah,
and
that's
pretty
much
it.
Fires,
fires
and
earthquakes
are
the
the
thing
or
I'm
sure
we
can
come
up
with
other
hazards,
but
yeah
right
now.
A
What
we
have
in
remote
lab
south
is
a
really
powerful
nice
computer,
but
the
test
equipment
is
pretty
much
packed
away
waiting
for
us
to
build
a
separate
building,
so
the
choices
are
either
to
have
the
lab
equipment
deployed
in
your
house
similar
to
the
way
that
remote
lab
west
is
done
in
a
spare
bedroom,
paul's
house
or
build
a
dedicated
building
and
the
the
goal
here
is
to
have
remote
lab
south
do
other
things
besides
this
remote
test
bench,
because
it
really
is
just
a
test
bench.
A
It's
a
very
modest
amount
of
space,
but
when
you're
already
completely
full
every
square
foot
counts
in
a
in
a
house,
then
cramming
in
an
extra
test
benches
is
a
a
bit
a
huge
ask.
So
I
think
what
I'd
like
to
do
is
have
maybe
paul.
A
Can
you
actually
show
on
your
phone
or
with
some
sort
of
webcam,
exactly
what
it
looks
like
currently
for
the
test
bench
for
trunk
and
the
test
bench
and
all
the
equipment,
because
I
don't
know
if
james
has
seen
what
it
actually
looks
like
deployed
the
way
that
we
we
have
it.
C
Yes,
I
can
do
that.
I
will
join
again
from
my
phone.
A
Thank
you
so
yeah
and
the
the
the
goal
since
since
arkansas
is
it's
a
little
easier
to
build
things
than
it
is
in
san
diego
than
what
we've
been
talking
about
is
is
actually
building
a
lab,
and
this
would
this
would
handle
other
functions
besides.
A
A
What
we're
kind
of
trying
to
figure
out
is
how
to
expand
operations
and
to
do
more
science
and
technology,
and
also
accommodate
james
and
and
the
rest
of
the
folks
on
the
property,
as
they
want
to
there's
like
multiple
parallel
efforts
for
science
that
we're
trying
to
enable
ranging
from
bacteriophage
research
to
interferometry.
A
To
this
particular
lab
setup,
which
is
focused
on
fpga
development,
and
to
have
some
microwave
band
test
equipment
for
digital
communications
work
and
also
to
support
you
know
computing,
so
machine
learning,
cognitive,
radio,
things
like
that,
and
and
then
also
to
do
some
some
manufacturing
so
like
a
laser
cutter,
cnc
things
like
that.
A
So
we're
looking
at
at
least
a
small
shop
building
or
medium-sized
shop,
and
we
do
have
some
some
budget
for
this.
We
actually
can
afford
it
or
can
afford
to
help
and
the
the
things
that
that
are
in
between
today
and
achieving
that
are
construction
well,
which,
in
their
current
climate,
is
expensive
and
difficult
with
some
unexpectedly
high
construction
costs.
So
even
in
a
relatively
inexpensive
part
of
the
country
to
build
with
relatively
light
code
and
code
requirements,
it's
still
slow
and
absolutely
yeah.
B
That's
just
like
we,
we
do
a
number
of
smaller
scale
projects
down
here
and
materials
cost
for
some
of
them.
It's
like.
Oh,
this
fluctuated
wildly
since
the
last
time.
We
did
a
project
like
this
and
like
every
time
we
go
by
to
get
materials
even
for
small
scale
projects
like
not
even
buildings,
we're
talking,
you
know,
desk
size
projects
and
the
same
project.
The
next
week
can
be
completely
different
in
cost.
That's
been
a
major
difficulty
with
the
recent
times.
A
C
C
We've
got
some
a
couple
of
monitors
and
and
keyboards,
because
remote
can't
always
be
remote.
Sometimes
you
have
to
actually
be
there.
We've
got
the
power
supply,
that's
the
signal
generator,
that's
the
power
supply
and
that's
the
oscilloscope
with
its
logic,
analyzer
components.
C
Now
this
is
a
bonus
piece
of
equipment,
it's
actually
mine,
it's
a
programmable
power
supply
and
here's
a
spectrum
analyzer.
The
pluto
is
here
recently
added
to
the
configuration
over
here
off
to
the
off
the
end.
We've
got
frequency
counter
and
power
meter
and
the
gps
receiver
hooked
up
to
an
outside
antenna
which
we're
using
as
a
10
megahertz
reference
oscillator
up
here
on
top
of
the
bench.
At
the
moment,
we've
got
the
the
two
development
boards
set
up
for
for
use
connected
with
the
ethernet
and
serial
ports.
C
In
both
cases,
this
is
the
battery
test
rig
that
we're
doing
a
battery
analysis
on
and
let's
see
under
the
bench,
sorry
about
the
blair,
witchy
camera
work.
The
pc
with
all
the
glowy
leds
is,
is
chonk
the
big
machine
with
all
the
virtual
machines
running
on
it
around.
C
C
This
pink
computer,
hello
kitty
is
running
some
additional
video
cards
because
we
ran
out
of
slots
and,
let's
see
around
the
back,
there's
the
raspberry
pi,
it's
ethernet
adapter,
second
ethernet
adapter
and
usb
hub
there's
a
also
an
hdmi
capture
card
there,
which
is
capturing
the
video
from
the
spectrum
analyzer
and
the
low
speed,
which
is
to
say
one
gigabit
network
switch
that
runs
all
the
on
the
inner
connectivity
and
lots
and
lots
of
wires.
A
Yeah,
thank
you.
I
think
it's
it's
fair
to
say
that
it
fits
on
a
bench
and
that
we
we
do
need
some
some
seating.
So
it's
not
it's
not
purely
remote
like
we
do
need
to
actually
move
in
there
and
hook
things
up.
You
can
see
some
some
antennas
and
some
cables
and,
and
then
lots
of
attenuators
so
like
the
rf
connector
stuff,
is
pretty
much
required
and
then
there's
there's
a
lot
of
printouts
and
binders
and
documentation.
That's
scattered
on
the
floor,
there's
all
of
that.
A
A
We
have
not
yet
gotten
to
the
point
where
we
really
need
those
so
they're
not
deployed,
but
they
could
be
on
yet
another
wire
rack.
I
think
the
wire
racks
are
pretty
inexpensive
and
that's
what
gives
us
the
vertical
storage
space
so
building
up
with
some
pretty
simplistic
wire
racks
from
ikea
or
wherever
we
got
them
from,
was
pretty
key
to
getting
all
the
equipment
there.
C
A
A
A
Oh,
is
it
okay
yeah?
I
don't
remember.
I've
had
to
crawl
underneath
it
before
so
I
could.
Probably,
since
I'm
five
foot
four,
it's
gonna.
C
C
The
other
thing
about
it
from
a
research
resource
point
of
view
is
it:
it
uses
a
fair
amount
of
electricity.
It's
always
noticeably
warmer
in
this
room
than
in
the
rest
of
the
house,
and
actually
I've
got
a
meter
for
that
right.
Now,
I'm
just
sitting
there
doing
nothing
with
most
of
the
test
equipment
turned
off
see
if
you
can
read
that
we're
pulling
about
300
watts
right.
B
Yeah,
currently
we
have
chub
chunks,
brother
and
the
pie
currently
are
in
our
dining
room,
which
we
don't
really.
We
don't
really
use,
but
it's
very
central
to
the
house.
B
On
the
bright
side,
we
have
some
of
our
own
household
servers
in
that
same
area,
so
the
fan
noise
isn't
as
bothersome,
but
it
is
definitely
noticeably
warmer
already
there
and
that's
without
all
of
the
other
extra
equipment
there,
and
even
with
that,
our
dining
room
isn't
as
accessible.
We
don't
have.
We
don't
have
a
guest
bedroom
in
this
household,
which
is
one
of
our
one
of
our
bigger
problems.
A
Yeah,
I
think
it
needs
probably
something
dedicated,
because
it
would
be
good
to
have
the
you
probably
wouldn't
want
to
put
it
in
like
a
garage
or
a
shop
with
like
something
like
machine
tools
or
or
anything
like
a
laser
cutter,
because
you'd
want
to
keep
the
you'd
want
to
keep
things
like.
I
don't
know
particulates
and
heat
at
a
a
reasonable
level.
So
it's
going
to
be
it's
going
to
be
best
in
a
dedicated
space,
which
I
think
that's
what
we've
been
talking
about.
A
All
along
is
it's
going
to
be
in
its
own
room
and
now
the
question
is
like
okay,
what
kind
of
what
kind
of
building
and
what
kind
of
room?
And
we
we.
I
know
that
we
posted
some
really
cool
information,
some
really
cool
pictures
about
the
existing
foundation.
There's
an
existing
foundation
on
the
property.
A
It
turns
out
that,
for
a
variety
of
reasons
that
that
we're
not
going
to
be
able
to
to
use
the
existing
concrete
foundation-
that's
right
next
to
the
house,
but
that
over
next
to
the
existing
garage,
it's
a
separate
garage
and
shop
that
we
might
be
able
to
do
that
and
and
that,
because
of
the
current
prices
for
for
construction,
it
looks
like
that
concrete
block
might
actually
be
cheaper
than
than
framing,
which
is
you
know,
kind
of
remarkable
when,
when
it
was
explained
to
me
that
I've
now
heard
this
three
different
times
that
the
the
cost
for
the
wood
for
forming
the
concrete
you
know
so
concrete
forms
are
usually
made
of,
are
often
made
of
wood
that
that
actually
is
the
most
expensive
part
of
concrete.
A
A
So
I
I
guess
it's
like
well
let
you
know
now
that
you've
seen
the
footprint
of
of
what
we
have
at
remote
lab
west
and
and
knowing
the
things
that
you
want
to
accomplish
with
the
with
the
property
and
the
effort
moving
forward
that
you
know
now,
it's
probably
a
good
time
to
start,
collaborating
on
the
the
specifics
and
and
talk
about
square
footage
and
what
it
looks
like
and
you
know
so.
We
can
sort
of
live
the
dream
and
get
get
it
up
and
running.
B
Yeah
that
that
walk
around
definitely
helps
and
gets
me
more
of
an
idea
of
the
sizes
we're
gonna
be
working
on,
which
means
that
in
my
that,
in
our
research
looking
into
materials
cost,
I
can
get
a
more
specific
value
for
what
we're
gonna
need
for
everything,
and
I
can
I've
gotta.
I've
got
a
few
more
ideas
now,
because
previously
I
had
a
couple
of
ideas
for
things
that
we
could
do,
but
I've
got
with
that.
B
B
A
B
In
in
my
mind,
I'll
have
to
confirm
this
with
with
keith
as
the
primary
property
owner
as
well,
but
in
my
mind,
I've
always
when
thinking
about
remote
lab
south
I've
been
thinking
of
it
more
as
a
as
a
shop.
It
is
a
place
that
you
go
to
part
of
me.
My
memory
goes
to
the
property.
Also,
we
have
a
barn
here
that
we've
already
gotten
a
power
and
viral
connection
to
because
it
was
a
while
ago.
B
It
was
the
office
that
my
father
used
on
property
and
it's
actually
not
it's
actually
still
in
pretty
decent
shape,
and
that's
also
been
one
of
the
options
of.
If
we
don't
want
to
build
an
entirely
new
structure.
That
area
is
more
than
recoverable
and
would
be
a
fantastic
place
to
turn
into
the
new
remote
lab
south,
and
it's
exactly
what
I
would
think
of
when
it
comes
to
remote
live
south.
Is
that
kind
of
styles
that
kind
of
appearance?
A
B
We
recently
had
some
well
not
quite
recently,
there's
been
some
water
damage
to
that
area
because
we're
coming
back
to
the
property
after
some
time
on
the
west
coast,
some
things
were
neglected,
particularly
the
roof
of
the
barn,
wasn't
taken
care
of,
but
that's
not
a
major
issue
as
much
as
it
is
a
when
you
get
up
there.
We
need
to
reseal
the
roof
once
that's
sealed
back
up
and
the
lab
is
cleaned
back
out.
It
already
has
a
it.
B
A
Okay,
as
a
I
mean,
even
if,
if
we
built
a
shop
for
for
things
like
remote
lab
south-
and
it
was
over
by
the
garage-
and
it
was
a
separate
building,
it
sounds
like
the
barn
might
be
useful
for,
for
maybe
bacteriophage
r
d.
It
would
be.
It
would
be
something
where
you
would
put
lab
equipment
or
lab
efforts.
B
Absolutely
it's
it's
got
there
is.
There
was
a
there's,
a
dedicated
room
in
the
barn
that
is
specifically
sealed
up
carpeted,
it's
got
climate
control.
It
was
back
when
I
was
a
young
boy.
That
was
my
father's
lab,
so
it's
currently
not
in
use,
and
it
would
be
perfect
for
usage
as
our
lab
for
everything,
and
it's
got
actually
considering
it
against
the
walkthrough
I
just
had
of
remote
lab
west.
B
A
Okay,
that
sounds
good.
Let's
continue
talking
about
it
and
and
try
to
get
some
some
numbers
on.
I
know
it's
difficult
to
figure
out
how
much
these
things
cost,
especially
right
now
you
know,
but
we
I
think
that
this
is
going
to
be
within
our
budget
and
it'd
be
good
to
be
able
to
start
working
with
a
with
a
goal.
A
So
it
sounds
like
we
have
some
options
and
yeah
go
ahead
and
talk
with
keith
and
see
based
on
what
you've
seen,
and
that
this
video
will
be
posted
to
our
youtube,
so
you'll
be
able
to
see
it
and
show
them,
let's
figure
out
where
and
get
some
footprints.
And
then,
let's
see
if
we
can
start
moving
forward.
A
Okay,
cool!
Thank
you!
So
much
see
you
see
you
real
soon
in
email
and
thanks
everybody.
I'm
really
looking
forward
to
this.
