We
have
just
introduced
open
source,
ecology,
first-ever
immersion
training
program
and
I'd
like
to
invite
you
to
the
first
week
of
that
which
is
open
to
the
general
public,
and
it's
called
the
open
source
microfactory
boot
camp.
First
of
all,
out
of
the
boot
camp.
You
will
get
a
chance
to
build
and
take
home
the
3d
printer
with
you,
so
you
can
get
involved
in
oscy,
remote
prototyping
or
whatever
you'd
like
to
do
with
a
3d
printer
boot
camp
covers
the
open-source
desktop
microfactory,
consisting
of
the
six
powerful
tools.
A
That's
the
3d
printer
3d
scanning
CNC
circuit
mill,
laser
cutter
and
then
the
machines
for
producing
3d
printing
filament,
which
is
made
by
recycling
using
a
filament
maker
and
plastic
shredder.
We
have
two
tracks,
so
one
is
the
learning
track
for
people
interested
in
collaborating
more
with
OSC
and
the
second
one
is
the
entrepreneurial
truck,
and
that
is
that
open
source
ecology
is
not
producing
only
the
blueprints
for
the
machines,
but
also
teaching
people
how
to
run
meaningful
businesses.

So
the
opportunity
with
the
3d
printing,
the
open-source
micro
Factory,
is
that
we'd
like
to
train
you
to
run
these
workshops.
Now
the
way
it
works
is
take
the
immersion
training
of
the
one-week
microfactory
the
boot
camp
and
then
attend
further
workshops
with
us
free
of
charge.
If
you're
pursuing
to
run
these
workshops,
we
can
continue
training
you
until
you
have
the
confidence
to
do
to
understand
both
the
technological
aspects,
how
to
source
the
parts
and
how
to
print
them,
using
your
3d
printer
that
you
built
yourself
and
how
to
teach
the
actual
workshops.

So
basically
it
would
be
at
the
final
point
about
two
days
of
effort
where
one
is
preparation
and
the
second
day
is
actually
running
a
build
workshop.
So
the
way
it
would
work
is
that
OSC
does
the
organizational
work
and
marketing
work
and
you
would
do
the
actual
part,
preparation,
meaning
inventory,
the
printing
of
the
parts
and
running
that
workshop.
So
currently
we're
thinking
about
paying
people
about
$600.
For
that
and
it's
it's
decent.
A
It's
also
not
a
free
lunch
because
to
get
there,
you
have
to
pretty
much
take
the
bootcamp
learn
everything
about
the
3d
printer
beefed
up
on
some
skills
of
how
to
teach
it
and
how
to
guide
people
effectively
through
that
process.
But
it's
a
great
opportunity
if
you,
if
you
want
to
be
involved
more
in
terms
of
the
livelihood
creation
of
this,
that
could
be
perhaps
a
step
to
to
merge
with
OSC
more
in
a
full-time
matter.
So
we
believe
in
distributive
enterprise
the
idea
that
our
work
is
good
for
the
world.

We
are
we're
teaching
others
how
to
do
that.
You've
talked
a
lot
about
the
idea
of
Right
Livelihood
and
that's
a
tangible
step.
We
can
take
right
now
in
terms
of
teaching
people
to
do
this.
Now.
One
more
comment
about
the
open-source
microfactory
our
claim
is
that
those
six
tools
are
sufficient.
If
you
combine
them
with
easy
to
source
off-the-shelf
parts
like
electric
motors
controllers,
various
electronics,
nuts
and
bolts.
A
If
you've
got
access
to
3d,
printing
and
making
your
own
circuits
and
other
parts,
I
would
say
you
can
produce
about
80%
of
all
the
different
consumer
household
goods
that
are
out
there
and
that's
combined
with
the
idea
that
our
3d
printer
is
designed
as
a
Construction
Set.
So
we
can
build
any
configuration
and
size
so
that
you
can
do
larger
prints
and
so
forth.

What
we
envision
is
thousands
of
these
micro
factories
around
the
world,
every
community,
every
city
has
these
people
are
producing
parts
locally
and,
at
the
end
of
the
day,
challenging
the
Giants
of
Walmart
and
Amazon
right.
So
the
thing
we
have
looking
for
us
here
is
that,
if
you
design
and
build
your
goods,
you
then
know
how
to
service
them,
how
to
maintain
them,
how
to
modify
them.
So,
therefore,
you
have
achieved
lifetime
design
as
opposed
to
planned
obsolescence.
A
That's
a
big
major
environmental
factor
that
the
open
source
ecological
production
has
to
offer
we're
combining
the
ability
to
recycle
plastics.
We
teach
you
the
skills
of
the
design
tools
like
freecad
and
kicad
for
mechanical
and
electronic
design,
so
all
together
the
ideas
that
we
produce
an
entire
open-source
tool
chain
for
producing
things
in
a
collaborative
way.
So
on
collaboration,
one
last
thing:
this
will
be
hosting
an
open-source
micro
factory
design,
challenge
on
a
platform
called
hero.
X,
that's
a
spinoff
from
the
XPrize
foundation.
A
It's
an
incentive,
Challenge
platform,
meaning
that
we
put
up
a
prize,
a
funded
prize
where
you
compete
for
the
challenge
and
the
challenge
would
be
to
build
the
cordless
power
tool.
Construction
Set,
starting
with
a
cordless
drill
that
will
be
professional-grade.
So
we're
talking
about
some
serious
design.
Possibly
even
the
motor
is
3d
printed,
but
yeah
the
whole
shell
and
everything
else
designed
an
open-source
software
built
with
the
3d
printer,
the
laser
cutter
CNC
circuit
mel,
so
that
we're
demonstrating
how
you
can
go
totally
from
scrap
plastic
which
you
recycle.

So
the
the
micro
factory
challenge
will
be
that
you're,
starting
from
very
scrap
plastic
and
producing
a
final
consumer
good
and
documenting
the
business
model
of
how
you
produce
that
to
make
that
a
viewable
product.
So
join
us

that.
That's
one
of
the
applications
for
what
you
can
do
with
the
open-source
micro
Factory.
