From YouTube: Tightening Belts on the Universal Axis System

Description

An explanation for an elegant mechanism for tightening belts - without typical zip ties or bolts that are normally used for belt attachment. Our method invovlves simple friction pegs and a tapered hole with the belt profile - and a belt peg that holds the belt securely into place. Using this technique, a belt is tightened by holding one side of the belt tights and inserting a peg in the other side.

So belt pegs are what keeps the belt tightened. The idea about the belt is that there's two different holes on a I learn: one is the thinner one. That's got the ribs in it that catch the ribs of the belt, but you simply have to wind it through. So I'd start on a on either side and it should go through relatively easy, but you might want to curl it curl it a little bit just in your hands, so that's easier to go through.

The belt plug okay, so this is where right now, if I had this in my hand, I could like gravity, can help it as well. So maybe you know I might turn it like this, because it's gonna, sometimes it can be challenging to get it in. We might because of that issue. You might want to modify this piece, so we actually take out that it's modified a little. So it's a little easier to thread, because sometimes it's not easy. It depends on the quality of the printed pieces. If there's like a bunch of right.

On the inside, where the curve is it's gonna be hard to get develop in, but also when you have it in your hand, you can move in three dimensions, and that makes it easier to do. Sot no I got this little curve on it.

Since this guy is still loose, I'm gonna just take them off, so you cuz now I'm just trying to push it through casually. It's not going through. Sometimes it does. Was because I would have been pushing, and so it does help it to be off the axis. So do not actually don't do that further axes without place now the pegs, so the pegs, the way they work is you thread one side through all the way catch the peg on the other side of it go in suck through the peg on it. So this is my paper pegs. They have a hole through the inside. The belt goes actually through it.

So next you got a casket belt now.

Okay, so about half inch to an inch, probably much you got to catch a clean site that hole under the peg. So you put it inside.

The hole and now the belt here could have been like that an inch longer but I caught this one and catching that one under the peg.

So this is the one I thread it through. So I'm gonna push that through the peg a little more, it does come out, but you need at least some. That's that's a bit short I mean it is short, but you can still grab it, so it still works and then to tighten axis I would not tighten it. So we got to thread it through. We might put like the other belt like very loosely in for now, because then you tighten it, but when you tighten it tighten it on the frame.

So you don't shrink this like. If you put a whole lot of force on this, you might, depending on how tight these are. It might actually push them in. You want to do that. Cuz. Then you want to get your holes so yeah and I'm catching that so I don't lose the belt from within the peg hole, so he's gonna catch it just like. Let's put it back on the machine, how are we doing which it's like this is where a serrated table.

This work, okay, so I'm gonna put it back on okay put the nuts on and we need two wires from the boat, so the small orange pliers you got something but idea here is thank you grab the belt like that, so this peg is in I pushed it all the way in when I grabbed it the belt. Now you got to take that one out to the first two, so it goes in so you can actually pull it. So what I'm doing right now is tensioning the belt? How high do you make it?

So you can play music, it's just strum and they make a sound. So then you push that the back side in and there you go so that should stay like that, and this is a tighten belt. So, with these simple times you get to tighten the belt. It's very solid. It's good! So like that. Okay, anyone replicate that.
