Councilman Derek Green (At Large) introduced a resolution recognizing the efforts of the Philadelphia Anti-Violence Coalition and declaring February 2017 as a “Month of Peace” in the City of Philadelphia.
He speaks on his resolution and on the efforts of the Coalition to reduce incidents of violence in the City.

honored
to
stand
with
blood

anti
violence
coalition
and
representatives

fifty
five
organizations
declaring
februari
as
a
month
of
chief.
The
mission
of
the
anti
violence
coalition
is
to
effectively
facilitate
collaboration
among
the
worst
grassroots
organization,
to
empower
the
community
to
increase
the
peace
in
our
neighborhoods
through
activism,
education,
prevention,
/
intervention
program,
an
effective
policy
advocacy.
The
antivirus
coalition
has
developed
a
10-point
program.

Some
of
the
points
of
those
program
includes
established
Street
intervention
teams
to
go
into
neighborhoods
what
has
been
high
numbers
of
shootings.
The
team
will
go
door-to-door
with
information
to
provide
employment
opportunities,
housing,
social
services
systems
etc.
Create
activities
year-round
for
youth
in
neighborhoods
at
churches,
mosques,
recreation,
centers
and
schools,
and
established
mentoring
program
in
each
of
these
settings.

develop
a
crisis
response
center
that
will
train
intervention
specialists
to
work
with
trouble,
individuals
established
resources
and
neighborhoods
that
help
residents
building
leadership
to

social

government
agencies

Development
