believe

we
have

mother

the

Hardeman

from
the

fellowship
with
the
city
of
Philadelphia's,
mayor's
office

community

he
researched
best
practices
for
playgrounds,
their
needs
for
upgrades
and
how
they
could
improve
the
city's
childcare
facilities

after
earning
a
master's
degree
at
Oxford,
mr.
Hardiman
plans
to
obtain
a
doctorate
in
communications
or
education
and
continue
his
work
in
critical,
pedagogy
social
movements,
race
and
politics,
an
african-american
intellectual
history

a
specific
interest
in
teaching
in
prisons
and
prison
reform.

Philadelphia
public
schools
have
produced
three
Rhodes
Scholars
Allen,
lock,
the
first
african-american
Rhodes
scholar
and
famous
Harlem
Renaissance
poet
was
also
a
graduate
of
the
Philadelphia

school
system

High
School.
This
year,
10
African
Americans
were
chosen
to
receive
this
Rhodes
Scholarship,
the
most
out
of
any
cohort.

Rican
diaspora

country

lobbying

want

thank

local
folks

PR

our

locally
we've
raised
$300,000,
we
shipped
800,000
pounds

goods

adopted

families

Puerto
Rico,
with

needed

was
appreciated.

us

help
with
our
Rico
by
helping

calling

senators

Congress
people
to
make
sure
that
Puerto
Rico
is
not
further
impacted
negatively

all
of
the
problems
of
the
tax
bills

being
debated

Congress.

rebuild

saddens
