Description
Councilman Derek Green (At Large) discusses the ongoing work and goals of Council's Special Committee on Regulatory Review and Reform.
A
A
Since
this
initiative
has
started,
we
have
now
been
working
with
various
city
departments
to
propose
legislation
and
regulations
that
they've
seen
that's
been
antiquated.
That's
impacted
their
ability
to
move
forward
and
have
better
relationship
with
the
business
community.
Today's
legislation
is
one
aspect
of
that
in
our
conversations
with
Ellen
I
commissioned
Dave
Perry
he's
proposed
information
and
legislation
that
goes
along
to
that
degree
and
we're
using
this
as
a
model
to
talk
about
other
city
departments.
A
On
how
they
can
propose
legislation,
as
well
as
regulations
that
they
believe,
should
be
removed
from
the
code
or
from
our
regulatory
framework
that
impacts
their
ability
to
do
their
job
and
also
work
with
small
businesses,
as
well
as
other
business
throughout
the
Greater
Philadelphia
community.
So
this
is
another
step
in
that
goal.
A
The
special
committee
we're
having
is
next
quarterly
meeting
on
March
7th
and
we
will
continue
to
work
as
a
committee
and
also
with
our
various
subcommittees
that
are
focusing
on
various
industries
in
the
city
of
Philadelphia
to
improve
and
enhance
our
business
climate.
So
that
way
we
can
have
small
businesses
grow,
employ
more
people
in
the
city
of
Philadelphia
and
get
to
what
I
say
is
a
number-one
issue
in
our
city,
which
is
poverty
and
by
growing
the
number
of
successful
small
businesses
and
large
and
large
businesses
in
our
city.
A
They'll
be
able
to
employ
more
people,
reduce
our
poverty
and
we'd,
also
be
able
we'll
be
able
to
reduce
taxes,
we'll
have
a
larger
base
of
businesses
and
we
will
be
able
to
learn,
rely
on
more
businesses
and
they
have
more
money.
Coming
to
the
general
fund
and
have
less
taxes
so
with
that
Thank
You.
Mr.
chair.
