From YouTube: Councilwoman Cherelle Parker Distributes Bicycles at Ben Franklin Elementary School 12-21-2016
Description
Councilwoman Cherelle L. Parker (9th District) partnered with CH2M Hill and Neighborhood Bike Works (NBW) to donate 15 bikes through the Bikes for Kids Program. Students attending schools in the 9th Council District who have exhibited outstanding academic and/or social achievements, improved performance standings, and a need for some holiday cheer have been selected by their school principals to receive this surprise reward. Through this annual partnership, CH2M & NBW have distributed more than 2,800 bicycles to deserving children in Philadelphia and surrounding communities. Each bike comes with a brand new helmet.

Want
to
thank
you
for
attending
today's
special
presentation
of
15,
new
huffy
bicycles
to
15
of
our
most
deserving
and
hardworking
students
and
I
want
to
thank
you,
madam
principal,
because
you've.
Why
don't
you
come
closer
up
here
with
me
for
opening
up
your
school
today
and
allowing
us
to
host
this
event
here?
For
the
past
two
years,
ch2m
Hill
has
given
me
the
opportunity
to
partner
in
their
efforts
to
spread
some
holiday
cheer
and
encourage
active
play
to
15
amazing
and
intelligent
students
attending
schools
in
the
9th
council
Matic
district.
A
Today
we're
going
to
celebrate
students
from
Cornell
from
elwood
and
from
franklin
elementary
schools
who
have
all
exhibited
one
or
more
or
all
of
the
following
one
stellar
academic
achievement,
and
this
is
important
for
our
young
people
to
know
that
this
is
how
you
were
chosen.
Stellar,
academic
achievement,
improvement
in
your
academic
achievement,
achievement
and
a
special
commitment
to
serve
in
their
school
community.
A
Someone
may
say:
well,
you
know
a
special
commitment
to
serve
in
your
school
community.
Why
is
that
important?
That
means
that
these
young
people,
even
at
such
a
young
age,
understand
that
serving
not
just
doing
something
for
the
benefit
of
themselves,
but
serving
others
in
their
school
community
is
extremely
important
and
I
will
tell
you.
There
is
a
challenge,
sometimes
trying
to
get
adults
to
understand
the
importance
of
serving
more
than
themselves,
but
the
community
at
large.
And
with
that
being
said,
let's
give
our
young
people
a
huge
huge
round
flaws.
A
A
New
relationship
and
I
will
tell
you.
I
went
when
I
went
to
visit
principal,
would
you
say
maybe
about
three
months
ago
or
four
months
ago
it
was
one
of
the
first
schools,
the
newer
schools
that
I
did
not
have
a
relationship
with
when
I
became
a
council
person
for
this
district
and
I
was
very
impressed
with
your
operation.
A
Miss
Tammy
Coleman,
who
is
the
school-based
teacher
leader
at
elwood
elementary
school,
come
forward.
Miss
Coleman
I
know
Elwood
for
a
long
time.
Having
worked
in
the
district
and
you
all
are
awesome
toyin,
who
is
the
government
relations
director
for
the
Northeast
Corridor
of
ch2m
Hill,
come
forward
toyin.
Thank
you
so
much
Sharon
jean-baptiste,
who
was
the
program
manager
for
ch2m
Hill
Sharon,
gives
sharing
a
round
of
applause.
A
Now.
Miss
Audrey
is
here
she's
one
of
my
committee
people
here
and
in
lawncrest
and
Audrey
I
want
to
say
it
right:
nah
zoom,
a
nozzle
made.
Oh
jesus,
oh
a
committee
person
here
so
before
we
present
the
new
bikes
I
want
to
have
some
remarks
from
mr.
Chris
Lawrence,
who
is
ch2m,
Hills,
philadelphia
area
manager
and
then
at
the
Chris,
speaks
we're
going
to
invite
students
to
stand
near
their
bikes
and
introduce
our
student
speaker
who
I
met
when
I
walked
in
this
Ward.
A
B
Thank
You
Councilwoman,
Parker,
Thank,
You
principal
sample
green
fur,
for
letting
us
have
our
event
here
and
for
really
making
this
event
possible.
Ch2M
is
a
an
engineering
company.
As
the
Councilwoman
said,
we
do
global
projects
really
work
throughout
the
world,
but
but
also
have
a
very
large
presence
here
in
the
Philadelphia
area.
It's
very
important
for
us
to
feel
like
we're
part
of
the
community
so
for
about
12
years
now
we
have
embarked
in
this
bicycle
program
or
bikes
for
kids
program.
B
So
for
the
for
the
students
out
there,
who
knows
what
engineers
do,
let's
raise
your
hand?
Okay,
well,
I!
Guess
I'll,
just
tell
you
so
a
lot
of
people
think
about
engineers,
building
roads
or
tunnels
or
bridges
or
maybe
cars,
but
but
really
the
term
is
much
broader
than
that.
What
an
engineer
will
do
will
if
someone
comes
to
them
with
a
problem,
they
find
a
very
practical
way
to
solve
that
problem,
so
that
problem
could
be
making
sure
your
car
doesn't
get
stuck.
B
It
could
be
how
to
dock
a
ship
and
get
the
cargo
off
how
to
land
a
plane
or
how
to
make
a
bike
and
keep
it
from
falling
apart,
as
you
ride
it
over
some
pretty
hard
ground
here
in
the
city.
So
what
we
hope
is
that,
as
you
kids,
who,
as
the
councilman
said,
have
really
earned
these
bikes
I
guess
that
was
a
problem.
B
We
saw
the
reserving
kids
who
need
bikes
and
that's
that's
something
we
want
to
solve
here,
but,
as
you
ride,
the
bikes
I'd
like
you
to
think
about
the
engineering
that
went
into
them
and
maybe
think
about
a
career
in
engineering,
because
it's
something
that
we
all
need
so
with
that
I
think
we're
going
to
turn
it
over
to
ya.
Yes,.
A
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
So
much.
Let
me
I'll
call
our
students
are
forward
and
students
now
I
want
you
to
be
very
patient
with
me
and
if
I
make
an
error
when
I'm
calling
your
name
I
want
you
to
very
quietly
share
the
secret
with
me
when
I
come
up,
so
you
come
and
tell
me,
but
it's
very
important
that
we
announce
your
names
correctly
and
we
want
you
to
come
up
and
we
want
you
to
stand
next
to
your
bicycles.
So
we're
going
to
start
with
Cornell
Ariana,
daddy,
Ariana,
Daphne.
A
A
A
And
Marcellus
Armstrong
Marcellus
Armstrong,
hey,
listen,
you
don't
like
just
quick,
quick,
quick
side
story:
I
have
a
son
who's,
4
years
old,
so
he's
in
pre-k
and
I
just
shared
their
learning.
The
song
to
teach
you
that
little
kids
were
just
wave
hello
and
goodbye,
but
big
kids
put
out
their
right
hand
and
shake
your
hand
and
they
look
you
in
the
eye
and
when
I
walked
in
a
classroom.
A
I
say
hello,
he
said
I
said:
what's
your
name
say
hello,
I'm,
Marcellus,
Armstrong
I
know
we
think
it's
small,
but
it
is
just
so
important
for
young
people
to
know
how
to
introduce
themselves.
So
you
did
Marcellus.
You
did
Franklin
Elementary
proud.
Now
here
we
are
sign.
Ls
rainbows
sign,
Ella
has
rainbows.
A
C
Good
morning
to
Councilwoman
sure
all
Parker
miss
crane
in
Franklin
Elementary,
my
name
is
gianna
ward
and
I'm
in
third
grade
on
behalf
of
the
students
would
like
to
say:
Thank
You
Councilwoman
partner
for
donating
bikes
to
us
kids
at
various
different
schools.
Thank
you
for
selecting
me
in
the
other
children.
We
wish
you
a
happy
and
healthy
new
year.
I.
A
Want
to
say
to
CSUN
Gianna,
you
did
such
a
good
job,
don't
you
think
about
running
for
office
and
if
you
do
not
even
know
castle
by
the
district,
I
see
so
competition
coming
game,
and
that
means,
let
me
say
to
my
friends
while
gianna
is
still
here
at
ch2m.
You
know
I've
no
ch2m
for
a
long
time
and
I
constantly
refer
to
you
as
ch2m
hill
am
I,
not
if
I
might.
It
is
just
ch
2
ml
right.
So
it's
ok,
alright,
so
not
seeing
h2m
hill.
A
The
way
I
was
not
knowing
it
for
so
long,
but
when
you
see
think
of
them,
ch2m
and
Chris
I
want
you
to
know
that
what
you
did
and
I
don't
know
about
you,
but
you
planted
a
seed.
I've,
never
thought
about
a
bicycle
when
I
think
about
a
bicep,
always
just
thought
about:
ok
learning
how
to
pedal
it
learning
how
to
move
it.
A
We
need
to
have
I
want
to
say
a
special
hello
before
we
go
to
all
of
our
law
enforcement
officers,
who
are
here
from
the
2nd
district,
please
give
them
a
huge
round
of
applause
and,
as
a
matter
of
fact,
can
you
all
come
forward,
because
this
I
mean
we
work
together
in
supporting
our
community
young
people.
