Description

This demo walks the viewer through the first iteration of Regen Network's land steward app. Right now, this app is used by ranchers and other land stewards to share information about their parcels with the Regen Network science team, who are using it to develop and refine our ecological state protocols.

In the future, this app will be a portal for land stewards to connect to an ecological data commons where they can share or sell their valuable agricultural data with stakeholders like businesses or governments, and ultimately receive compensation for verified improvements in the ecological health of their land.

Hi I'm Claire an engineer on the team at regen network, and this is a demo of our land steward app right now. This app is used by ranchers farmers and other land stewards to share information about their parcels with the region network science team who are using it to develop and refine our ecological state protocols in the future.

This app will be a portal for land stewards to connect to an ecological data Commons where they can share or sell their valuable agricultural data with stakeholders like businesses and governments, and receive compensation for verified improvements in the ecological health of their land. Let's get started first, I will login with my gmail account.

This makes it super seamless to get started because I don't need to create a special account to use our app back on our map screen as a rancher. I can now search for a location to zoom in on and find the region where my land is located.

I'm going to outline the range land of our friends at wine-cup gamble ranch, which spans nearly 1 million acres in northeast nevada. This ranch is a leader in holistic management and regenerative grazing.

The first step is to outline the parcel with our drawing tool.

Okay, now I can give it a name and save it.

So here we have a watercourse.

Holistic management and some pasture cropping we're going through a series of questions asking about natural features on the land, management practices and specific events from their records. For instance, in 2015 we had natural pasture cool.

So if we select this parcel and look at our detailed view, we see a long list of management records which comes from a search based on the geolocation of the parcel. So it shows a history of management events over time and through different periods of ownership. After submitting data into the app land, stewards have the opportunity to see which incentive programs they qualify for and start receiving rewards for ecological improvements.

They have already accomplished our next big feature that we're coding right now is the ability for farmers to import a KMZ or shape file with the boundaries of their parcels, which our system will parse and draw on the map automatically. We will also import spreadsheets with management data, so ranchers won't have to click through our form to submit years of detailed management.

Data ahead on our road map will connect to the api's of other farm management apps to allow land stewards to pull their data into a regen network quickly and easily, we'll also layer, open source, geospatial data such as watershed and soil type maps to give users immediate ecological insight into their bio region.
