Our
public
hearing
is
item
b1
the
truth
and
taxation
hearing
for
fiscal
year,
2022-23.
D
Thank
you,
mr
chair.
I
think
you
covered
the
basics
that
the
city
is
holding
this
hearing
to
comply
with
state
code,
which
states
that
if
the
council
sets
a
property
tax
budget
higher
than
the
previous
year,
we
should
go
through
a
truth
and
taxation
process.
So
that's
what
the
council
is
doing
right
now
at
the
conclusion
of
that
hearing,
you
can
decide
whether
to
adjust
or
adopt
the
budget
that
you
adopted
in
june
that
set
that
property
tax
budget.
C
E
Thank
you.
Can
you
hear
me?
Okay?
Yes,
we
can
hear
you
great.
Thank
you.
Yes,
rusty
cannon,
I'm
the
president
of
the
utah
taxpayers
association
just
wanted
to
make
a
couple
of
brief
comments.
Tonight.
E
We
appreciate
the
time
that
the
mayor's
staff
spent
with
us
in
going
over
the
budget.
As
we
reviewed
what's
going
on
this
this
year,
we
did
want
to
make
one
comment
going
forward.
So
if
you
look
at
the
tax
rates
website
that
the
property
tax
division
of
the
state
tax
commission
puts
together,
you
can
see
what
the
auditor
certified
revenue
is
for
this
year
for
salt
lake
city,
91
million
226
891
your
budget
revenue
is
97
million.
582
and
22.
Excuse
me
22.
E
So
that's
a
tax
hike
of
6
million
355
131,
so
we've
been
a
little
bit
frustrated
that
in
some
materials
the
tax
hack
has
been
expressed
as
4
million
in
change,
but
there's
really
no
way
around
the
fact
that
you
are
raising
revenue
by
6.3
million
and
we
just
appreciate
that
number
being
used
in
materials
going
forward
or
discussions
going
forward,
and
we
look
forward
to
working
on
this
in
the
future.
So
this
doesn't
happen
again
but
happy
to
answer
any
questions.
Thank
you.
F
C
D
B
G
Oh,
I
couldn't
hear
anything.
Okay
in
the
last
10
years,
there's
been
about
a
16
increase
in
the
circuit
breaker,
while
the
typical
property
taxes
have
gone
up
about
300
plus
percent.
So
don't
blame
the
legislature.
You
are
increasing
the
taxes
and
you
shouldn't
expect
the
legislature
to
cover
your
actions.
G
You
have
a
fun
balance
after
last
year's
budget.
That
is
double
the
best
ever
fund
balance.
I
think
it
was
17
around
rocky's
time.
So
why
do
you
need
more
money
to
spend
check
the
city
budget
for
the
last
five
years?
If
this
goes
through
disabled
veterans,
low
income,
fixed
incomes,
seniors
all
will
be
hurt.
Please
don't
increase
the
property
taxes.
G
This
taxes
increases
slap
in
the
pace,
especially
towards
those
people.
I
urge
you
to
close
the
publication
and
reject
the
property
tax
increase
and
you
can
do
that
if
you
are
half
as
good
as
I
think
you
are,
and
I
think
that
I
noticed
that
the
council's
agenda
page
was
not
updated
at
least
24
hours
before
the
meeting,
with
the
notice
of
the
meeting
just
heads
up
thanks
for
listening.
F
I
wanted
to
come
out
and
comment
in
favor
of
the
projects
that
are
being
supported
by
the
both
the
go
bond
and
the
revenue
bond,
but
I
think
that
these
involve
a
lot
of
much
overdue
attention
being
paid
to
projects
on
the
west
side
with
new
glendale
water
park,
development
improvements
along
the
jordan
river
trail
fisher
mansion
money.
I
think
these
are
all
long
overdue,
that
citizens
of
the
west
side
have
been
paying
for
trails
and
parks
on
the
east
side
and
getting
very
little
to
show
for
it.
F
I
I
have
the
reason
I
I
attend
the
meeting,
sometimes
the
classroom
meetings
and
the
reason
I'm
attending
the
media
specifically
today
is
because
I
I
have
a
private
practice,
I'm
a
mental
counselor
and
I
want
to
open,
like
I,
my
practice
used
to
be
in
farmington,
but
I
want
to
bring
it
to
salt
lake
city
because
most
of
my
clientele,
it's
from
salt
lake
city
area,
especially
like
downtown
west
valley.
I
So
my
question
is
I
never
done
with
commercial
like
loans
and
stuff,
so
it's
everything
is
new
to
me
and
I
found
appropriately
work
great
for
the
clinic
that
I'm
planning
to
like
expand,
and
so
I
know
I
need
to
get
a
meeting
with
the
drt.
I
need
to
get
a
drc
meeting,
so
do
I.
I
have
emailed
henry
o'connor,
but
I
haven't
heard
from
him.
I
I
have
had
some
time
situations
where
I
email
the
city
and
I
don't
get
answers
from
anybody.
So
my
question
is
how
what
is
the
potential
from
a
property
that
is
sona's
mu,
which
means
mix,
use
or
residential
commercial
to
be
okay
to
be
used
for
commercial?
B
H
I
move
that
the
council
closed
the
public
hearing
and
adopted
an
ordinance
establishing
the
final
rate
of
tax
levy,
including
the
final
levy
for
the
library
fund
upon
all
rail
and
personal
property
within
salt
lake
city
made
taxable
by
law
for
for
fiscal
year,
2022
through
23
and
ratified
the
budget,
as
adopted
by
the
council
in
june
and
I'll
just
note
that
there's
an
error
in
the
motion
sheet.
So
the
years
are
actually
22
to
3..
