A
Hello
and
welcome
to
humane
touch,
I'm
Teresa
Williams,
the
director
for
the
division
of
humane
services.
The
division
of
humane
services
protects
the
health
and
safety
of
st.
Charles
County
residents
and
pets
by
licensing
and
regulating
animals,
housing,
strays
and
investigating
complaints.
The
the
division
works
to
prevent
mistreatment
and
injury
to
animals
by
enforcing
regulations
for
their
care
control
in
custody.
The
division
of
Humane
Services
operates
the
Pet
Adoption
Center,
located
on
mid
rivers,
mall
drive
across
from
st.
Charles
Community
College.
It
features
a
very
active
adoption
program.
A
If
you're
looking
for
a
new
friend,
then
the
pet
adoption
center
is
the
perfect
place
to
start.
There
are
always
plenty
of
different
animals
to
choose
from,
and
every
dog
or
cat
is
spayed
or
neutered.
Microchipped
vaccinated,
licensed
heartworm,
checked
and
checked
out
by
a
veterinarian.
The
fees
are
sixty
dollars
or
under
for
dogs
and
forty
dollars
or
under
for
cats.
Now
that's
the
best
deal
in
town,
no
matter
where
you
look
now,
let
me
introduce
you
to
just
some
of
our
special
friends
that
are
ready
for
forever
homes.
Right
now,.

Exercising
your
pet
is
important
all
year
round,
but
in
the
summer
there
are
some
precautions
that
pet
owners
want
to
take.
It's
best
to
walk
your
pet
early
in
the
morning
or
later
in
the
evening
when
the
temperatures
are
better.
Also
remember
that
the
pavement
gets
very
hot
and
that
your
pet
paw
pads
are
very
sensitive
to
that
heat.
So
you
may
want
to
avoid
pavement
and
black
top
during
that
the
hotter
parts
of
the
day
as
well.
B
B
D
When
your
pet
is
spending
time
outdoors,
you
want
to
make
sure
that
they
have
adequate
shade
so
that
they
can
get
to
a
cooler
area
when
the
Sun
gets
up,
and
you
want
to
make
sure
that
your
pet
always
has
adequate
amounts
of
clean
cold
water.
One
way
to
ensure
that
is
make
sure
you
have
a
non
tipping
bowl
so
that
your
pet
doesn't
tip
the
water
over
and
then
go
all
day
without
water
metal.
Bowls,
maybe
something
you
want
to
avoid
using
in
the
summer,
because
they
heat
up
faster.
B
B
D
Animals
can
suffer
from
heat,
stress
and
heatstroke,
and
it's
important
to
know
the
signs
and
symptoms.
One
of
the
first
things
that
you'll
see
is
excessive
panting
and
you
may
notice
that
the
dog
or
cat's
tongue
becomes
a
very
dark
red
or
even
purplish.
That's
a
first
sign
that
your
animal
is
in
trouble.
Other
symptoms
can
be
vomiting,
the
animal
may
become
lethargic.
Their
heartbeat
may
increase
that
type
of
thing.
The
important
thing
to
do
is
to
hit
your
animal
cooled
off,
move
them
into
an
air-conditioned
or
shaded
area.
