A
Hello
and
welcome
to
humane
touch,
I'm
Teresa
Williams,
the
director
for
the
division
of
humane
services.
The
division
of
humane
services
protects
the
health
and
safety
of
st.
Charles
County
residents
and
pets
by
licensing
and
regulating
animals,
housing,
strays
and
investigating
complaints.
The
the
division
works
to
prevent
mistreatment
and
injury
to
animals
by
enforcing
regulations
for
their
care
control
in
custody.
The
division
of
Humane
Services
operates
the
Pet
Adoption
Center,
located
on
mid
rivers,
mall
drive
across
from
st.
Charles
Community
College.
It
features
a
very
active
adoption
program.
A
If
you're
looking
for
a
new
friend,
then
the
pet
adoption
center
is
the
perfect
place
to
start.
There
are
always
plenty
of
different
animals
to
choose
from,
and
every
dog
or
cat
is
spayed
or
neutered.
Microchipped
vaccinated,
licensed
heartworm,
checked
and
checked
out
by
a
veterinarian.
The
fees
are
sixty
dollars
or
under
for
dogs
and
forty
dollars
or
under
for
cats.
Now
that's
the
best
deal
in
town,
no
matter
where
you
look
now,
let
me
introduce
you
to
just
some
of
our
special
friends
that
are
ready
for
forever
homes.
Right
now,.

Adopt
a
cat
month
is
a
national
campaign
where
all
animal
shelters
and
humane
societies
throughout
the
country
get
together
and
decide
to
try
to
really
promote
adoptions,
all
the
benefits
of
adopting
a
cat
from
an
animal
shelter.
This
whole
idea
and
concept
was
originally
designed
by
a
couple
of
national
animal
welfare
organizations,
and
it
was
designed
to
promote
cats
at
the
most
critical
time,
which
is
the
month
of
June,
where
most
animal
shelters
and
humane
societies
and
rescue
groups
all
throughout
the
country.
That's
the
month
that
most
people
have
the
most
cats.

A
One
of
the
advantages
having
cats
for
pets
is
there
much
more
independent
than
dogs,
and
that
really
is
that
people
say
it's
a
wives
tale,
but
it's
really
not.
Cats
are
easier
to
take
care
of
in
some
ways
and
one
of
the
reasons
that
people
consider
them
easier
is
because
you
can
go
away
for
a
weekend
and
have
some
downtime
yourself,
and
you
don't
have
to
worry
about
your
cat
or
cats
at
home,
because
they
pretty
much
will
take
care
of
themselves.
They'll
entertain
themselves.
A
C
A
Most
people
will
come
to
a
shelter
it
with
a
family
people
with
families
and
children
especially,
are
looking
to
adopt
a
younger
animal
because
they
think
I'm
going
to
train
this
animal
to
be
the
perfect
pet
for
my
home,
and
so
people
think
that
same
thing
about
cats
and
kittens,
and
it's
actually
not
exactly
true
cats
and
kittens
are
different
than
dogs,
especially
in
that
area
of
how
you
raise
a
cat
to
become
your
own
personal
pet
and
how
you
can
train
it.
It's
not.
The
cats
can't
be
trained,
they
can
and
kind
of.
