Description

A
Hey
st.
Charles
County,
my
name
is
corporal
Carver.
Thanks
for
coming
to
us,
live
here
on
our
Facebook
recruitment
chat,
we're
going
to
talk
to
you
a
little
bit
about
the
opening
of
police
officer
and
what
details
are
on
that
John's
gonna
talk
about
the
patrol
division
and
the
chief
will
bring
it
home
with
some.
B
I'm
chief
Kirk,
for
is
she
pleased,
were
a
st.
Charles
County
Police
Department
I
want
to
talk
about
the
department.
First
of
all,
I
like
to
acknowledge
this
is
National
Police
week.
So
this
is
a
week
we
honor
and
remember
all
the
fallen
officers
from
all
the
various
agencies
across
the
country.
Unfortunately,
this
year,
because
of
Kovach
19,
a
lot
of
the
memorial
activities
have
been
canceled,
some
we're
going
virtual,
so
I
know
there
were
some
put
outs
very
special
from
the
st.
Charles
County
Service.
B
We
usually
have
a
bow
II,
so
look
for
that
coming
out
via
social
media
here
real
soon,
a
little
bit
about
st.
Charles,
County
Police
Department.
So
this
police
department
evolve
from
the
st.
Charles
County
Sheriff's
Department
2015,
it's
January
1st
2015,
with
the
chart
changed,
ordered
on
by
the
voters
of
st.
Charles
County,
the
police
department
was
formed
and
what
that
is?
It's
a
creation
of
a
professional
police
agency
to
be
run
by
a
chief
of
police
and
then
the
typical
ranks
of
a
police
department
that
you
have
and
what
that
does.
B
It
removes
what
the
elected
sheriff's
away
from
running
the
police
department,
but
they
just
completed
the
first
five
years
in
the
police
department,
we're
moving
into
a
new
face,
the
second
five
years
and
then
beyond.
So
we're
real
excited
about
that.
The
department
continues
to
grow
and
we
have
an
opportunity
right
now,
with
eight
new
openings
within
our
Police
Department
eight
vacancies.
B
We
need
to
fill
so
we're
real
excited
about
getting
out
in
the
public
and
recruiting
both
experienced
and
from
the
academies
we
went
to
the
can
last
week
and
talked
to
all
the
recruits
there.
So
we've
got
a
number
of
vacancies.
We
really
need
a
deep
talent
pool,
so
we're
real
excited
about
the
opportunity
to
bring
this
to
you
on
Facebook,
so
moving
forward.
The
police
department
has
a
lot
of
opportunities
and
it's
sergeant
Wayne's
going
to
tell
you
all
about
the
opportunities
within
the
police
department
a
little
bit
about
our
Bureau
field
operations
and.
C
I'll
touch
on
that
and
corporal
Carver
will
come
back
and
actually
talk
to
you
about
the
position
and
what
some
of
the
requirements
aren't
different
things
like
that,
but
as
far
as
a
new
guy
coming
in
and
you
go
right
to
our
Bureau
field
operations
as
of
right
now,
we're
still
on
eight-hour
shifts,
and
so
you'll
have
nine
days
off
in
a
20
day
cycle.
But
as
of
July
1st,
we
are
transitioning
to
12-hour
shifts,
so
that
will
kind
of
give
you
the
typical
schedule
of
the
off
every
other
weekend.
C
You
know
you'll
have
a
long
week,
but
then
you
also
have
a
short
week,
and
so
a
lot
of
guys
are
very
excited
about
the
one
of
the
12-hour
shifts
which
is
of
what
a
lot
of
police
departments
are
now
doing.
Anyway,
once
you
get
into
patrol
you
complete
your
probationary
period,
you
go
through
your
two
years.
Once
those
two
years
are
done,
you
got
the
opportunity
to
put
in
for
all
sorts
of
specialized
unit,
which
is
a
perk
of
working
for
the
county.
C
We
maintain
a
lot
of
neat
large
units
in
the
county
as
far
as
SWAT
and
bomb
squad.
We
have
our
own
k9
unit.
We
have
a
cybercrime
division.
We
have
our
art.
Detective
bureau
is
a
pretty
decent
size,
so
there's
a
lot
of
opportunity
there
to
put
in
for
those
kind
of
positions,
but
as
far
as
being
on
patrol
and
doing
that,
go
be
four
platoons.
So
you
know
two
platoons
on
nights
and
then
two
platoons
on
days
you'll
work
those
for
four
months
and
then
you'll
flip-flop.
C
So
it's
not
like
you're
going
to
go
to
nights
and
be
stuck
on
nights
for
six
years,
cuz
you're,
a
junior
officer
they've,
tried
to
create
kind
of
get
away
from
the
old
school
way
of
thinking
and
make
it
a
little
more
fair.
So
that
way,
we're
rotating
every
four
months,
so
everybody's
getting
an
opportunity
to
work
in
the
daylight
and
also
work.
C
Guess
that's
one
thing
I
like
to
lead
into
also
as
far
as
working
for
the
county
as
far
as
an
extent,
instead
of
a
municipality,
is
you
know,
we're
607
square
miles,
so
you're
zone
to
be
quite
a
large
zone.
In
one
day,
you
might
have
the
opportunity
to
drive
a
couple
hundred
miles
answering
different
calls,
as
opposed
to
just
being
in
a
smaller
work
area.
So
if
that's,
what
you're
looking
for
is
a
little
more
freedom
to
kind
of
roam
around
that
might
be
something
you're.
Looking
for.
C
A
Yes,
we
are
currently
accepting
applications
for
our
police
officer
opening.
So
just
to
kind
of
give
you
a
little
bit
of
background
on
that
and
you
would
apply
online
and
all
this
information
is
actually
online
at
WWF
CC
mode
org.
The
deadline
to
apply
is
5:00
o'clock
on
the
29th
and
then
after
you
apply,
you
would
actually
contact
our
human
resources
department
and
you
would
register
for
your
written
video
exam.
Those
testing
dates
are
June,
1st
and
June
2nd
after
that,
and
you
would
take
the
physical
agility
testing.
A
A
A
Let's
see
and
you
talked
about
patrol
being
assigned
in
a
and
different
zones
and
everything
like
that-
you'd
investigate
your
crimes
or
complaints
and
make
custodial
arrests,
attend
court
hearings
if
needed
and
testified
and
then
obviously
perform
any
other
duties
that
would
be
assigned
to
you
and,
like
I,
said
you
get
all
of
this
information
that
I've
kind
of
printed
out
so
that
way,
I'd
have
notes.
It's
all
online
at
that
address.
That
I
gave
you
guys
earlier
and
it's
all
done
through
our
human
resources.
A
So
everything
that
I
have
in
front
of
me
is
available
online
for
you
as
well,
and
then
it
breaks
down
and
it
talks
about
our
salary
and
what
we
would
start
a
patrol
officer
and
then
it
kind
of
goes
into
all
of
the
different
benefits
which
we
have
several
here,
as
a
police
officer,
so
I
mean.
Obviously
the
12-hour
shifts
is
a
big
big
bonus,
knowing
that
you're
coming
into
the
department
with
not
a
lot
of
seniority
and
knowing
that
you're
gonna
have
every
Friday
Saturday
and
so
on.
A
Every
other
Friday
Saturday
and
Sunday
off
its
from
your
date
of
hire.
You
start
accruing
PTO
time,
PTO
time
as
your
paid
time
off
at
zero
to
five
years.
You
accumulate
perhaps
an
eighteen
seventeen
days
a
year
and
then
that
increases
so
the
longer
you're
here
with
the
county,
that'll
that'll
increase.
So
it
goes
from
17
days
six
to
ten
years,
it's
22
days
and
then
after
eleven
years,
you'll
start
accruing
27
days
a
year,
we
have
extended
medical
leave.
A
We
also
have
health
insurance
coverage
and
that
also
ranges
to
you
can
come
on
in
and
just
get
benefits
for
yourself.
It
could
be
for
you
or
a
spouse,
you
or
your
child,
or
you,
your
in
your
entire
family,
dental
insurance.
We
also
have
that
vision,
insurance
group,
life
insurance,
long-term
disability,
loggers-
that
is
all
actually
provided
by
the
county
at
no
extra
cost,
and
we
have
a
lot
of
other
things
that
we
can
get
into.
We
have
a
457
which
is
kind
of
similar
to
like
a
401k.
C
And
that's
offered
as
a
the
county
actually
offers.
We
have
a
457,
but
the
county
offers
a
401
matching.
So
once
you
complete
your
probationary
period,
the
county
will
match
up
at
3%
up
until
you've
been
here.
I
think
I
want
to
say
it's
five
years
and
then
and
over
4%.
So
so
that's
just
a
secondary
401.
You
know
I,
look
at
it
personally!
It's
just
a
secondary
401k
that
the
Townies
contributing
on
my
behalf.
C
So
it's
kind
of
nice
to
be
able
to
check
both
of
those
and
know
that
that's
there
for
me
and
then
also
I
will
say
on
the
the
emergency
medical
leave.
It
might
not
be
something
that
you
ever
used,
but
it
is
something
that
you
I
think
you
would
curve
up
to
12
days
a
year,
and
so,
if
you
don't
touch
it
for
five
years,
you're
looking
at
a
substantial
amount
of
time
and
we're
if
you
do
get
hurt
or
you
do
get
very
sick
or
you
know,
I've
had
I
had
a
second
shoulder
surgery.
C
A
Mean
also
I
mean,
if
you
know,
you're,
expecting
children
or
something
like
that.
You
can
take
that
time
or
something
like
that
as
well.
So
that's
nice
to
be
able
to
be
home
with
your
spouse
after
the
birth
of
a
child
and
know
that
send
a
medical
leave
there
to
help.
You
cover
that
we
also
have
an
Education
Assistance
Program,
which
is,
which
is
huge
and
they'll,
actually
pay
up
to
four
thousand
dollars
in
reimbursement
per
year
and
also
kind
of
break
down
the
percentage
of
books
of
the
pay.
A
C
You're
on
patrol
you'll
receive
630
dollars
yearly
and
it's
actually
a
voucher
type
system,
so
we
have
a
uniform
company
and
we
have
a
specific
list
of
items
that
you'd
be
able
to
purchase.
So
it's
not
that
you
can
just
go
out
and
buy
any
kind
of
random
whatever,
but
there
was
this
pretty
extensive
and
they've
added
things
over
the
years,
as
guys
have
requested
those
things
to
help
you.
C
You
know
if
you
get
a
shirt
that
rips
or
pants
a
trip
or
you
just
have
shirts
that
are
wearing
out
or
your
boots
are
going
bad.
You
look
at
that
money
yearly
to
use
and
they
encourage
you
to
use
that
money
by
the
end
of
the
year
and
they'll
send
out
reminders
say
you
know
the
year
is
closing.
If
you
have
money
left
on
your,
you
know
to
remind
guys
that
we
want
them
to
have
good
equipment.
We
want
their
uniforms
a
little
squared
away.
C
B
I'll
tell
you
what
couple
great
things
about
work
with
the
County
police
is
every
officers
issued
a
vehicle
to
take
home
vehicle,
so
you
actually
log
on
from
your
residence.
Once
you
get
off
field
training
you'll
be
given
a
police
vehicle.
It
goes
home
with
you,
you
log,
on
whatever
zone
you're.
In
that
day,
you
log
on
from
your
zone.
That's
true
residents,
but
in
your
zone,
but
as
far
as
facilities,
this
police
building
that
we're
in
is
second
to
none.
It's
been
recently
added
on
to
the
training
rooms.
Here
are
fantastic.
B
We
have
a
range
facility
down
in
the
Weldon
Springs
area,
that
is,
it's
top-notch
factors
of
expansion
propulsive
going
on
with
that.
So
we're
looking
for
great
things
with
our
range
here
in
the
building.
We
have
a
great
fitness
room
that
gets
utilized,
but
it's
a
full
complement
of
cardio
and
weight
equipment.
So
a
lot
of
good
things
going
on
here,
a
lot
of
side
benefits
of
work
for
the
st.
Charles
County
Police
Department.
So
it's
just
a
fantastic
place
to
come
work
day
in
and
day
out.
A
Absolutely
so
to
kind
of
piggyback
off
what
the
chief
was
saying
when
he
was
talking
about
our
facility
is
equipped
with
a
gym
and
a
cardio
area.
So
we
started.
I
was
probably
about
a
couple
weeks
ago.
We
got
together
and
we
just
wanted
to
go
a
little
bit
extra
above
and
beyond,
and
really
show
commissioned
and
non-commissioned
personnel
here
at
PD,
just
how
important
it
is
for
wellness
and
and
not.
We.
D
A
To
kind
of
encompass
all
parts
of
wellness,
so
nutrition,
mental
well-being
being
being
physically
fit.
So
with
this
health
and
wellness
committee,
we
have
been
very
excitable.
We
recently
just
announced
it
not
recently,
but
we
had
a
15
day
challenge
day
15
tomorrow,
but
it's
just
more
about
getting
people
involved
and
making
good
nutritional
choices.
And
you
know,
like
I
said
we
that's.
The
challenge
was
the
first,
but
we
look
to
do.
Group
workouts
and
you
know
just
kind
of
really
talk
about
and
get
involved
with.
A
B
Of
our
big
goals
is
to
have
folks
have
a
long,
healthy
career
here
and
just
get
to
the
point
where
they
can
enjoy
their
pension.
So
you
do
that
through
officer,
wellness,
employee
wellness
and
and
making
sure
that
you
stay
healthy
throughout
your
career
and
then
you're
able
retire,
the
benefit
of
being
a
police
officer.
Is
you
do
get
an
opportunity,
retired
younger
age
than
most
professions.
B
So
it's
one
of
the
great
things
about
being
police
officers,
so
we
want
to
make
sure
we
help
keep
you
healthy
to
get
to
that
point
so
that
you
could
live
and
draw
your
pension
and
live
a
long,
healthy
retirement.
We're
going
to
a
second
career
if
you'd
like
so
a
lot
of
opportunities,
a
lot
of
options
with
that.
That's
one
of
the
great
things
about
being
a
police
officer.
Amongst
of
many
other
things,
I
know
sergeant
Williams
touched
on
some
of
the
specialized
units,
but
full
complement,
detective
bureau.
Anything
you
can
think
of.
B
As
far
as
crimes
against
persons,
crimes
against
property
bomb
techs,
we
have
a
SWAT
team.
That's
a
regional
SWAT
team,
that's
in
the
umbrella
County
Police
Department
here,
but
we
have
a
very,
very
dedicated
SWAT
team
that
very
professional,
very
well-equipped
the
Drug
Task
Force
at
regional
Drug,
Task
Force,
again,
multi-jurisdictional
good
falls
under
the
umbrella
of
the
st.
Charles
County
Police
Department.
We
have.
We
are
part
of
the
metro
or
support
aviation
unit
and
we
have
two
pilots
currently
assigned
in
the
to
the
air
support
units.
So
that's
another
opportunity,
so
it's
impossible.
B
B
B
We
do
want
you
to
have
be
post
certified,
so
completions
of
the
police
academy,
whether
it's
eastern
Missouri
Academy,
st.
Louis,
County
Academy,
any
Academy,
that's
a
Class,
A
Academy
will
get
you
eligible
and
then
that's.
The
main
thing
is
having
academy
and
having
your
high
school
degree.
If
you
have
some
college
or
your
college
degree,
that
just
makes
you
more
attractive.
So,
like
corporal
said,
we
have
an
educational
assistance
program.
So
if
you
come
here
without
a
degree,
we
can
help,
you
get
your
degree
through
a
financial
assistance.
So
that's
the
background.
B
B
We're
not
tell
you
about
law
enforcement
in
the
st.
Charles
County
area,
because
every
department
out
here
is
very
professional.
We're
all
comfortable
and
paying
benefits,
so
it
is
very
competitive.
There's
not
a
lot
of
sponsorship
going
on
through
the
Academy
right
now,
because
they're
producing
such
quality
recruits
that
we
really
don't
need
to
do
that
at
this
point.
So
I'd
encourage
you
if
you're
not
already
a
post,
certified
officer
in
the
state
of
Missouri,
it
says
to
seek
that.
C
I
just
want
to
touch
on
the
academies
bar
is
there
might
be
some
people
out
there.
They're
all
I
have
to
work,
so
I
can't
go
to
the
Academy
and
they're
under
that
impression
that
the
Academy
is
just
Monday
through
Friday
8:00
to
5:00.
There
are
part-time
options
of
yes,
it
will
take
even
longer
it's
a
I
did
that
it
was
a
long
year,
but
it
was
well
worth
it.
It's
gotten
me
where
I'm
at
now
so.
C
Of
it
all
like
I,
have
to
work.
I
have
to
do
this.
You
might
have
put
in
a
little
bit
of
double-time,
but
those
part-time
options
are
available
and
they
will
work
with
you
and
they
try,
and
you
know
they
will
try
their
very
best
to
facilitate
a
schedule
for
you,
you
know,
or
if
you
have
to
move
some
things
around.
They
usually
try
and
help
you
make
that
up,
but
that
part-time
option
is
available.
So,
yes,.
A
D
B
Do
we
there's
all
kinds
of
professional
ongoing,
continuing
education
number
one
will
make
sure
you
maintain
your
post
license
through
our
in-service
training
program.
Secondly,
there's
all
kinds
of
opportunities
to
our
to
go
outside
and
get
some
additional
training,
whether
it's
a
for
specialized
position.
We
have
our
patrol
officers
that
our
vehicle
crash
investigators,
drug
recognition,
expert,
there's
all
kinds,
especially
if
you
can
get
through
ongoing
training
opportunities
that
will
provide
for
you
as
they
come
up,
but
there
there's.
We
encourage
it,
we're
big
into
ongoing
education.
C
C
So
there's
just
a
lot
of
opportunity
for
them,
especially
for
the
specialized
things
in
law
enforcement
for
you
to
get
certified
in
and
then
teach
other
officers
and
then,
like
Chief,
said
we're
responsible
for
maintaining
everybody's
post
hours
internally.
So
you
don't
get
all
that
training
and
you'll
get
the
opportunity
to
teach
all
the
other
officers
in
the
department.
So
yes,.
A
And
you
guys
do
not
have
to
be
in
a
specialized
unit
to
be
interested
in
being
an
instructor
you
can
be
on
patrol
and
have
interest
in
teaching,
CPR
or
narcan,
or
our
racial
profiling
or
legal
updates
will
not
legal
update.
You
guys
can
teach
those,
but
something
like
that.
So
you
know
you
want
to
stay
in
patrol,
maybe
you're
not
interested
in
going
into
another
Bureau.
You.
A
D
B
A
good
question
presidency,
so
I
you
just
really!
You
just
need
to
be
you
and
you
don't
have
to
live
in
accounting.
Fact,
ethically
you
don't
live
in
state
of
Missouri,
so
that
might
it'll
restrict
whether
you
take
your
car
home
or
not.
You
may
have
to
park
at
the
nearest
police
station
if
you
live.
B
We
have
someone
interested
in
other
I
know
that
of
this
recruit
lives
in
Alton.
Illinois
he's
not
going
to
be
able
to
take
the
car
home
Dalton,
but
we'd
probably
tell
him
he
needs
to
park
it
at
a
a
police
station,
that's
closest
to
his
home,
so
that
might
be
somewhere
in
North,
st.
Louis
County.
So
that's
just
an
example.
So
we
do
work
with
you,
but
you
do
not
have
to
live
in
st.
Charles,
County.
A
And
I
actually
kind
of
talked
about
those
a
little
bit
earlier,
so
starting
salary
is
fifty
six
thousand
a
year
and
the
benefits
would
be
like
said
your.
You
start
to
accrue
that
that
paid
time
off
from
the
time
that
you
were
hired
the
extended
medical
leave,
which
sergeant
Williams
kind
of
talked
about
how
beneficial
that
is.
A
We
have
the
vision,
insurance,
the
group
life
insurance,
the
long-term
disability,
the
loggers
retirement
that
is
all
provided
by
the
county
at
no
extra
cost
to
you,
and
then
we
have
some
additional
benefits,
such
as
the
voluntary
life
insurance,
short-term
disability
and
then
the
medical
dependent.
It
sets
a
flexible
spending
account
and
that
can
kind
of
help.
You
meet
your
deductibles
as
far
as
your
health
insurance
goes.
We
talked
about
the
457
and
that
is
kind
of
similar
to
that
401k,
and
then
we
talked
about
our
matching
program,
so
you
enroll
in
that.
A
D
B
A
good
question
we
do
have
actually
currently
have
an
analyst
position
open,
but
it's
froze
right
now
and
we
need
to
get
these
officer
positions
filled
first,
but
that
is
on
the
noncommissioned
side
of
the
house.
But
it's
always
a
skill
set.
You
can
develop
and
nothing
to
say
that
as
this
department
grows
and
evolves
that
that
could
not
be
a
commissioned
position.
So
any
specialized
skill
set
like
that
is
the
hi
YouTube.
This
Police
Department.
D
C
Far
as
patrol
wise,
you
know,
duties
assigned
to
you
is
in
patrol,
you
know,
that's
your
first
and
foremost
job.
The
other
things
that
you
can
put
in
for
to
have
other
responsibilities
are
to
be
a
vehicle
crash,
recognition
expert
or
to
be
a
you
know,
a
DWI
specialized
person
or
you
can
put
in
to
be
on
SWAT,
which
you
would
still
be
on
patrol,
and
then
you
would
also
have
SWAT
responsibilities.
And/Or
being
an
instructor
like
Andrea
said
you
don't
have
to
be
in
a
specialized
unit
to
be
an
instructor.
C
C
The
responsibility
of
writing
a
lesson
plan
developing
powerpoints
things
that
you
know
they're
gonna,
let
you
do
it
on
your
work
time,
but
it
also
pushes
you
to
do
things
outside
the
comfort
level.
I
guess
I've,
just
patrol
work.
It
forces
you
to
broaden
your
horizons
a
little
bit
to
get
into
that
educational
mindset
to
want
to
teach
the
other
guys.
C
So
there's
a
lot
of
responsibilities
there
and
then
we
have
other
guys
are
involved
in
the
honor
guard
and
things
like
that,
so
it's
Special
Olympics,
all
those
kind
of
things,
so
there's
other
responsibilities
that
you
could
take
on
yourself.
If
you
want
that
extra
responsibility,
it's
just
how
much
you
want
to
take
on
for
you.
That's.
B
B
Community
Engagement
officers,
everybody
is
encouraged
to
get
out
of
the
car
talk
to
talk
to
the
community
play
with
the
kids.
If
they
see
some
kids
throwing
ball
talk
to
the
folks
who
are
out
there
to
sit
in
the
driveways,
but
it
really
is
important
to
us
to
reach
out
to
our
community
communicate
with
them,
and
we
do
that
in
a
lot
of
different
ways
but
day
in
day
out
as
a
control
officer.
B
It's
not
just
about
responding
to
the
calls,
but
it's
about
looking
for
opportunities
to
communicate
with
our
public
and
engage
with
them
and
find
out
what
issues
they
may
have
or
just
kind
of
humanize
the
badge.
Let
them
get
to
know
you
as
a
police
officer.
So
that's
very
important
to
us
and
I
think
as
a
police
officer.
It
really
helps
develop
you
as
a
good
communicator
whether
you
want
to
become
an
instructor.
But
if
you
deal
with
the
public
day
in
and
day
out
by
taking
self-initiated
activities
in
time
to
reach
out.
B
A
D
B
B
Hey.
Thank
you
for
your
time,
thanks
for
tuning
in
and
it's
if
you
have
any
additional
questions,
do
not
hesitate
to
reach
out
for
us
via
email
phone
call,
happy
to
field
any
more
questions
you
may
have,
but
again
thanks
for
taking
your
time
with
us
here
at
the
st.
Charles
County
Police
Department.
We
really
encourage
you
to
take
a
hard
look
at
this
agency
and
come
work
for
us.
Thank.
