We approved a budget today, look we did the best we could with what we got and I really believe.

uh It's a good budget. It gives something to everybody and may not give everybody everything.

They want, but that's the budget process and it's a process we go through every year. Now again it.

Gets back to projections of revenues and are those revenues going to occur? I hope so. Lord knows we're.

So tired of coved- and we want to put it all behind us and any of the effects it's had on our economy.

Or on us personally and our fatigue and our whole thing, if we just want to get it behind us and.

Get back to normal, it was very refreshing this week in church that we didn't have to wear a mask.

We didn't have to have have social distancing, and you know it was amazing to just be able to breathe.

Fresh air, without a mask on your face, it was a good good day. So that's a good thing now, when.

You're working on any kind of agreement, any kind of thing that requires a majority of commissioners.

A

There's a term that martin luther king used and it's called molding consensus we used to say, seek.

A

Consensus but in a quote he said he said, real leaders don't seek consensus. They mold it.

A

Because it's quite ordinary for people not to agree on the same things or or see things in.

A

Different light, but it's it's important that we respect each other's opinions and respect where.

A

We come from because at the end of the day, we all want, what's best for st mary's county again.

A

I say if we, if these revenues come through and we have this money end of this year, we can make.

A

Adjustments first of next year- and I'm all for that, the key gets to be is is board of ed. They.

Should get 45 50 of the money, the sheriff's department, 20 21, it's been historically what.

We've done I'd like to see us move more towards a when we know we're going to have or think we're.

Going to have excess funding that we go ahead and allocate it percentage-wise based upon.

Historicals, because we're not the experts and how best to use that money in those systems.

I think the board of ed or the superintendent, you know they can make the best.

Use of the funds that we can give them, but again it's it's a process and lord knows.

Seeking to mold consensus is what requires that is to reach out to other commissioners.

uh Return their calls or maybe reach out to them and just tell them what you're thinking.

And so we can have a dialogue. I want to thank all the people who have reached out to us on.

uh Email, I don't read facebook much, I do read it, but I don't do county business on facebook and.

Social media to me is a something I want to talk about. My grandchildren or my family or or events.

Happening that are positive, so I won't do county business on facebook. Now tonight's, a public forum.

I think we're going to hear from the community college of.

Southern maryland, with the aquatic center in leonardtown, I know we've heard a lot from.

People wanting to get that pool open back up. I think it's a great idea. I think the county can.

Kind of have a good partnership there with csm, but I really look at that once we figure.

Out the ymca in lexington park. That would be another ideal example for ymca in leonardtown.

A

Because the thing about ymca they do all the operational cost and that's something I know the.

A

College of southern maryland and the county always looks out for what are our continuing costs when.

A

We do something, but I just think that would be an opportunity to look at another ymca for the county.

A

In the leonardtown area, and hopefully a third one in the charlotte area, charlotte hall area later on.

This weekend's memorial day start of summer. Lord knows we had a couple of days this past weekend.

A

That really made us remember summer. It was way too hot. Hopefully it won't get hot too early.

A
