Every 10 years America conducts the census, a survey to count everyone in the country and it's incredibly important that we count everyone here in Pinellas County. This number affects not only how many representatives we have in Congress but also how billions of dollars in federal funds get distributed for community programs. The survey will be a little bit different this next time. Instead of sending out the survey, the Census Bureau will mail out an invitation and you will choose to complete the survey online, by mail or by phone. During the last census Pinellas County had a 76 percent response rate next year we need to beat that. This spring Pinellas County is launching a complete count committee that I will be chairing and we need your help. We need neighborhood associations nonprofits faith leaders business and local officials to work together so we can get the word out about the importance of the census. It's especially vital that we reach those parts of our community that have been underrepresented in the past.
