Description
House Agriculture Subcommittee House Hearing Room 3
A
You
have
a
quorum.
Thank
you,
mr
clerk.
This
is
going
to
end
up
being
an
organizational
meeting
of
this
committee.
Today.
The
bills
we
had
on
notice
have
been
put
on
next
week's
calendar,
so
I
am
representative
chris
todd
from
house
district
73,
which
is
most
of
madison
county
and
have
the
honor
to
to
chair
this
committee
of
these
fine
folks
and
appreciate
each
one
of
your
dedication
to
our
agricultural
industry
and
natural
resources
across
the
state
and
look
forward
to
serving
with
you
during
this
session.
A
As
I
mentioned
a
moment
ago,
my
assistant
rob
cagle
to
my
right,
who
is
our
also
our
clerk,
and
we
have
our
staff
attorneys
that
are
assigned
to
this
committee
matthew
monday
and
who
is
here
in
front
of
me
and
loving
middleton
dunn
who's,
not
with
us
today
and
jeremy
maxwell
is
our
research
analyst
to
my
right.
A
A
I
would
like
to
ask
each
of
our
committee
members
to
introduce
yourself
and
just
tell
us
a
little
bit
about
yourself
where
you
what
you
represent.
Maybe
your
your
background
connection
to
either
ag
or
natural
resources
and
we'll
start
to
my
left
with
our
one
of
our
freshman
representatives
from
weekly
county,
mr
tandy
darby.
B
North
ohio
county
in
north
carol,
county
grew
up
on
a
farm
and
graduated
with
ag
business
degree
from
utm
still
have
a
few
cows
under
my
belt
and
then
working
the
ag
business
now,
with
aiken
importer
produce
and
part
owners
in
a
cattle
farm
and
feeder
lot
in
kansas.
C
Thank
you,
mr
chairman,
and
I
happy
to
be
back
on
the
ag
committee.
Cattle
farmer,
houston
county,
represent
house
district
74
neighboring
county
to
you,
sir
and
house.
District
74
makes
up
all
of
humphreys
county
houston
county
in
the
western
part
of
montgomery
county,
which
includes
the
property
that
belongs
to
tennessee,
but
is
under
fort
campbell's
control
once
again
excited
back
to
be
back
on
this
committee
thanks,
sir.
C
D
Thank
you,
chairman
representative,
chris
hurt
I'm
from
11
halls,
lauderdale
county.
I
represent
the
82nd
district,
which
is
lauderdale
crockett
and
haywood.
Counties
in
west
tennessee
grew
up
in
a
family
ag
business
and
family
farming
operation
there
in
lauderdale
county,
which
was
lauderdale
work,
ground,
lauderdale,
crockett
and
even
part
of
haywood.
So
ag's
been
good
to
me
growing
up
in
the
ag
world
and
looking
forward
to
serving
on
this
committee.
E
Thank
you,
mr
chairman.
I'm
curtis
hawford,
I
represent
district
79,
which
is
all
of
gibson
county,
and
I
share
part
of
carroll
county
with
representative
darby
down
on
the
end
and
and
he
he
made
the
statement
that
he
had
a
few
cows
around
and
I'm
sure
was
glad.
I
didn't
have
a
bunch
of
balling
cows
around
last
monday
morning,
when
it's
one
degree
you
know
so.
E
I've
been
around
agriculture
and
farming,
all
my
life
and
it's
it's
a
pleasure
for
me
to
be
a
part
of
this
committee,
and
I
look
forward
to
serving
with
all
of
you
and
and
with
chairman
todd.
F
Thank
you,
mr
chairman.
Yes
mark
cochran,
I
represent
the
23rd
district,
which
is
all
of
mcminn
county
and
a
portion
of
monroe,
so
I
grew
up
actually
on
my
family's
farm
as
well
been
in
our
family
since
about
1850
or
so
have
beef,
cattle
and
racking
horses
and
then
other
part
of
our
family
business
was
actually
the
only
grocery
store
in
in
town,
so
kind
of
got
to
see
the
end
product
of
agriculture
with
our
produce
and
meat
products
and
and
then
my
day,
job.
F
I'm
the
chief
of
staff
to
the
mcming
county
mayor
and
agriculture
in
general,
is
just
such
a
huge
part
of
our
economy
there
with
a
home
of
mayfield,
dairy,
mayfield,
milk
and
ice
cream,
and
so
as
well
as
many
other
large
farms.
So
it's
really
just
always
been
a
part
of
my
life,
and
I
appreciate
you
all
having
me
as
a
new
member
here
on
the
committee.
Thank
you.
G
H
Thank
you
chairman
appreciate
it.
I've
been
wanting
to
be
on
this
committee
since
I
first
got
in
the
legislature.
A
lot
of
people
don't
know
about
me.
I
grew
up
on
tobacco
farm
in
mary
county,
so
I
started
raising
the
back
at
age
of
five
years,
always
between
20
and
30
acres
a
year,
so
we
managed
about
three
different
properties
during
high
school.
I
rode
bulls
competed
with
that.
It
was
pretty
interesting
people.
I
I
Ounces,
whatever
people
always
say
to
me,
you
know
we
don't
get
a
full
gallon
of
gas.
I
say
yes,
you
do,
because
the
department
of
ag
makes
sure
that
you
get
a
full
gallon
of
gas.
So
I
think
with
the
fact
of
knowing
that
I
touch
the
lives
of
every
tennessee
and
every
day
is
what
makes
me
excited
about
serving
on
this
committee,
and
thank
you
for
having
me
again.
A
I
want
to
go
over
our
rules,
just
I'm
going
to
hit
the
high
spots.
All
of
these
will
be
sent
to
each
member,
so
you
will
have
those
for
your
reference,
but
a
few
things
I
wanted
to
point
out
for
the
year
we'll
start
meetings
on
time.
That's
one
thing:
I'm
going
to
do
my
best
to
do
if
something
doesn't
interfere
in
a
major
way,
we're
going
to
start
on
time,
appreciate
members
being
here
on
time
and
and
maintaining
a
quorum
we'll
take
up
bills
by
leadership.
A
A
A
A
A
I'll
entertain
any
questions
at
this
point.
As
I
said
earlier,
we
don't
have
any
legislation
before
us
today.
All
those
bills
have
been
re-calendared
for
next
week,
and
so
I
appreciate
any
any
questions
or
any
other
comments
that
anybody
may
have
seeing
none
without
objection,
then
we
will
adjourn.
Thank
you.
