Description
House Insurance Subcommittee - January 25, 2022 - House Hearing Room 2
A
Thank
you
very
much,
madam
clerk.
I
appreciate
that
it
is
tuesday
january
25th.
The
hour
is
1
30-ish.
We
got
a
little
wiggle
room
there.
Do
we
have
any
personal
orders
by
any
committee
members
at
the
moment
I
will
take
a
indulgence.
A
Dr
kumar
chairman,
kumar's
wife,
is
having
a
medical
procedure.
He's
absent
was
absent
a
few
days
last
week
and
absent
today
so
certainly
keep
dr
kumar
and
his
wife
and
your
thoughts
and
prayers
as
you
go
about
your
day
today.
I'm
sure
everything's
going
to
be
fine,
but
just
a
challenge
challenge
for
the
family
anytime,
a
medical
procedure
goes
on.
We
are
excited
to
have
the
insurance
subcommittee
up
and
running,
and
I
would
like
to
introduce
you
to
some
of
the
folks
who
make
the
committee
go
make
the
committee
work
beyond
our
members.
A
We
have
our
research
analyst
to
my
right,
john
gleason,
john.
Thank
you
very
much
for
your
work
committee
assistant
and
in
my
la
shelly
adams
to
his
right.
Our
intern,
with
both
full
insurance
and
insurance
sub,
is
savannah
beatty
to
the
to
the
far
right.
So,
thank
you
all
very
much
to
my
left.
We
have
our
committee
attorneys,
zach
brown
sings,
a
great
song
if
you
ever
want
to
hear
him
sing
chicken
fry
we're
glad
to
have
zach
with
us.
Jamie
shanks
is
also
one
of
our
committee
attorneys.
A
Our
clerk
is
natalie
dusick
natalie's
with
us
in
the
back,
welcome
natalie.
Thank
you
so
much
to
have
you
with
us
and
as
always,
terry
venturis.
Thank
you
very
much,
our

us
all
safe
up
here.
We.
We
appreciate
that
so
members.
Thank
you
all
very
much
for
being
here.
Your
diligence
for
being
here
as
well.
Librarian
archives
in
the
back.
We've
got
perry,
glenn
davis
jr
glad
to
have
you
here.
Thank
you.
So
much
hopefully,
we'll
say
something
that
means
something
in
the
long
run.
A
So
you
can
have
us
archived
for
years
and
years
and
years
to
come.
Thank
you
all
so
much.
We
do
have
a
calendar
before
us
and
we
are
going
to
hear
a
bill.
I
will
tell
you
item
number
two
on
the
calendar.
I
don't
know
if
I
see
representative
hodges
in
the
room
but
house
bill
451
by
representative
hodges.
The
request
has
been
to
to
move
this
bill
to
roll
this
bill
to
the
last
calendar,
which
will
create
a
move
of
this
bill
to
the
special
calendar
in
in
reality.
A
C
Well,
thank
you,
mr
chairman
and
committee,
and
it's
an
honor
to
be
the
first
one
to
come
before
the
committee
this
year.
I
hope
you
don't
consider
me
what
we
call
in
the
army
a
training
aid,
but
this
is
a
bill
that
was
brought
to
me.
It's
basically
what
we
call
a
cleanup
bill
from
the
good
folks
at
the
comptroller's
office
house,
bill
1705.
C
This
legislation
makes
government
work
better
by
removing
an
unnecessary
requirement
for
the
comptroller's
office
to
approve
access,
tennessee's
plan
of
operation
access.
Tennessee
is
one
of
the
legacy
health
care
plans
that
we
had
in
the
state.
We
think
there's
about
80
folks
on
it
right
now
and
it's
been
largely
replaced
by
the
affordable
care
act.
So
it's
like,
I
said
it's
a
legacy
plan
and
it's
for
low
income.
Folks,
like
I
said
that's
now,
most
of
them
are
participating
in
the
affordable
care.
Thank.
A
You
chairman,
and
I
appreciate
that
chairman
woodson
and
it's
an
interesting
time
when
someone
has
been
in
the
legislature
long
enough
to
see
a
program
begin
and
now
I
get
to
see
a
program
wind
down.
So
after
20
years,
I'm
seeing
some
of
that.
So
it's
it's
hard
to
believe
that
I've
came
along
with
this
building.
