Description
On May 5, 2015, Toronto City Council welcomed the incoming Chief of Police, Mark Saunders.
A
Thank
you
so
much
for
that
warm
welcome
mayor,
madam
chair
councillors,
honored
guests.
Thank
you
for
giving
me
an
opportunity
just
to
speak
briefly.
I
love
my
job.
I
really
do
I've
been
doing
this
for
32
plus
years
now,
and
I've
had
opportunities
to
go
other
places,
but
there's
no
way
that
I'd
ever
leave.
Toronto
Police
is
no
way
that
I'd
leave
Toronto
I
think
this
is
the
best
city
in
the
world
and
I
say
that,
because
every
time
I
go
elsewhere,
I.
A
Say
that
because
every
time
I
go
elsewhere,
I
get
homesick
really
quick,
so
I'm
glad
to
be
here
and
I'm.
So
grateful
for
your
support
when
the
announcement
was
made
at
the
support
was
overwhelming
and
I
still
have
a
couple
of
thousands
of
people
that
I
have
to
return
to
thank
yous
to
so
anyone
that
has
sent
me
one
I
haven't
ignored
you,
I
will
be
sending
it
out.
A
You
know,
policing
is
very
tricky
laws
changed,
governesses
change,
all
kinds
of
things
changed,
but
at
the
end
of
the
day
one
thing
is
always
the
same,
and
that
is
if
we
have
good
interactions,
we
will
be
successful
if
we
treat
everyone
with
dignity,
respect
which
is
all
anyone
ever
asks.
Then
we
will
be
successful
at
keeping
our
city
safe.
A
We
have
the
best
citizens
in
the
world
and
I
say
that
when
you
look
at
the
numbers,
when
you
look
at
the
numbers
and
compare
our
numbers
to
everywhere
else
in
the
world,
we
are
number
one
in
so
many
areas,
and
it's
because
of
you.
It's
because
you
care-
and
it's
because
you
work
with
us
as
a
police
agency,
in
keeping
this
city
safe,
and
that's
why
you
chose
to
live
here.
