A
A
B
Vice
chair
grimes
wants
to
move
the
meeting
along
and
so
on
so
good
morning
everybody
I'd
like
to
get
the
meeting
started
and
before
I
get
the
meeting
started,
though
there's
a
young
man
to
my
right
in
the
corner
there
for
the
record
he's
my
nephew
he's
here
for
yeah
he's
tall
too
he's
here
for
take
your
child
to
or
it's
kid,
but
I
like
the
term
child
better
to
to
work
and
I'm
going
to
ask
him
to
come
and
maybe
just
pull
a
chair
up
and
just
kind
of
come
in
with
they
wanted
to
share
the
meeting
yes
to
come
and
bring
a
chair
with
you.
B
B
A
Can
I
tell
you
that,
23
years
ago,
take
her
kids
to
work
day
had
just
started.
My
dad
was
the
president
of
the
learning
partnership
which
ran
it.
So
I
went
with
him
to
work.
We
showed
up
at
metro
morning
and
my
dad
said
well
you're
doing
the
interview
hadn't
told
me
in
advance,
and
this
happened
all
day.
Long
we'd
show
up
to
the
next
event
because
he
was
to
be
speaking
about
it
and
they
were
like
joe.
You
do
the
event
to
this
day.
I
have
not
forgiven
him.
B
Now
look
where
joe
cressy
is
today.
His
father
knew
bess
great
so
good
morning,
everyone
and
welcome
to
meeting
number
nine
of
the
economic
and
community
development
committee.
B
I'd
like
to
welcome
members
of
the
committee
and
also
any
visiting
members.
I
see
council
fletcher
who's
here
with
us
this
morning.
Talking
with
mr
williams,
our
general
manager
of
edc,
yes,
bring
his
job
to
our
council,
fletcher's
new
child
and
also
to
visiting
members
in
attendance
today
and
to
members
of
the
public
and
to
the
media.
B
B
The
economic
development
committee
acknowledges
the
land
we
are
meeting
on
is
the
traditional
territory
of
many
nations,
including
the
mississauga
of
the
credit,
the
anashabi,
the
chippewa
and
the
nishani
and
the
windat
peoples,
and
is
home
to
many
diverse
first
nations
inuit
and
metis
people.
We
also
acknowledge
that
toronto
is
covered
by
treaty
13
with
the
mississauga
of
the
credit,
and
so
members
want
to
move
right
along
into
the
agenda
and
caleb
you're
following
along
right.
B
This
declaration
of
interest
under
the
municipal
conflict
of
interest
act
cnn,
that's
great
confirmation
of
the
minutes
from
the
october
16
2019,
minister,
vice
chair,
grimes
and
council
cressie.
All
those
in
favor
pose
that's
carried.
Thank
you
presentation.
Speakers
we
have
none.
I
think
this
is
the
first
time
for
the
committee
and
it's
okay,
great,
thank
you,
communications
and
report.
B
I
think
we
just
have
new
business
later,
we'll
get
to
that
in
a
moment
so
on,
but
we
have
nothing
else
all
right.
So
moving
right
along
with
this
very
vast
extensive
agenda,
I
think
we
have
four
items
on
the
agenda.
I
know
that
many
more
are
going
to
be
coming
for
the
next
committee
meeting.
So
please
brace
yourself
for
that.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
the
first
item
ec
9.1
extension
of
federal
funding
for
toronto
youth
job
corps
program.
B
What
say
you,
members,
okay,
council,
crest,
is
moving
the
item
and
councillor
carol
reminds
us
that
we
ought
to
take
the
money
and
run
along.
There
is
a
a
sheet.
That's
I
don't
know
if
members
have
this,
but
it
shows
the
number
of
young
people
that's
been
served.
The
number
of
employment
that's
been
created,
the
number
of
people
who
return
to
school
there's
a
copy
of
it,
and
it's
it's
an
interesting
number.
B
Certainly
we
want
to
see
those
numbers
move
up
a
little
bit
because
we
have
a
number
of
young
people
who
are
in
need
of
jobs
and
opportunity
right,
caleb.
Yes,
absolutely
so
all
those
in
favor
always
that's
carried.
Thank
you.
B
So
we'll
just
hold
that
for
a
moment,
council
carol
has
questions
ec
9.3,
exploring
do-it-yourself
events
and
city-owned
space.
What
save
you?
B
B
47020879
and
respectively,
four
seven
zero:
two
two
one:
six:
eight
with
k:
dental
incorporation
for
the
provision
of
dental
clinic
supplies
and
equipment;
council
cressy:
this
is
your
item.
A
Yeah
happy
to
move
it
just.
B
A
Yeah,
just
very
briefly
just
so
that
members
of
the
committee
aren't
surprised.
Often
we
would
bring
something
like
this
through
the
board
of
health.
This
is
well
received
and
good
news.
The
province
is
providing
funding
as
part
of
a
dental
program.
We
were
notified
on
friday
that
in
order
they
want
the
program
to
start
in
mid-november,
we
had
missed
the
window
around
the
board
of
health,
and
thus
we
wanted
to
rush
it
through
here
and
with
the
the
chairs
blessing
of
yes,
we
will
accept
money
from
the
province
and
we're
thankful
for
that.
B
Yeah
and
I
just
wanted
to
add-
I
mean
I
want
to
thank
the
province,
the
premier
and
everybody
there
in
terms
of
our
ongoing
forward
collaboration
and
so
on.
I'm
very
delighted
with
with
the
results-
and
this
is
a
huge
benefits
to
this
program,
helping
our
seniors
and
so
on
and
a
contribution
that
the
provinces
is
making
is
going
to
have
great
impact.
I
mean
what
I
learned
about
dental
dental
issues
and,
and
so
on.
B
They
told
me
many
years
ago,
like
you
know,
you've
got
to
make
sure
you
take
care
of
your
teeth,
because
it
affects
your
balance
when
you
get
older
and
so
on.
It's
just
some
of
the
basic
things
and
just
basic
hygiene,
and
so
on
right,
it's
extremely
important.
So
I'm
really
delighted
at
the
collaboration
and
the
contribution
and
the
investment
that
the
province
is
making
this
and,
of
course,
the
board
of
health
in
terms
of
accepting
this
and
council
president,
your
leadership
on
this
has
just
been
exemplary
and
we
thank
you
very
much.
B
C
Thank
you,
yeah,
just
a
couple
of
questions
of
staff
because
reading
the
report
and
now
understand
why
the
activism
organized
around
this,
we
were
hearing
we
we
are
funding,
we
do
provide,
we
do
we
don't
there,
but
it
what
it
what
it
appears
now
we're
putting
money
in
the
2020
budget
request,
but
it
appears
there.
There
are
different
practices,
there's
there's
no
sort
of
overarching
best
practice
and
and
as
we
fund
the
question
is,
can
we
require?
D
So
through
the
chair
counselor,
we
do
require
all
shelters
and
drop-ins
to
provide
free
menstrual
products.
So
it
is
an
expectation,
that's
contained
in
both
the
shelter
standards
and
the
respite
standards,
how
they
distribute
them.
We
do
leave
to
the
discretion
of
the
agency,
depending
on
the
type
of
service,
the
physical
infrastructure
at
the
site
and
what
they
know
works
best
for
their
clients.
D
C
I
think
that
may
be
the
problem.
I
mean
one
there's
one
there's
a
mention
of
one
place
or
multiple
places
where
you
just
get
it
an
intake
and
then
that's
it.
I
I
think
this
is
why,
while
we
have
been
providing
through
various
means
cur
up
until
now,
and
currently
we
still
have
an
activist
group,
because
it's
not
you
know
as
needed,
there's
there
isn't
a
response
as
needed
when
needed
consistently
in
all
places,
and
so
we
find
ourselves
with
activists
knocking
on
the
doors
of
counselors
offices.
C
D
Through
the
chair
absolutely
again,
it
is
an
expectation
that
these
products
are
available
to
people
either
at
request
or
on
an
ongoing
basis.
What
we
do
have
undergoing
yep.
D
What
we
do
have
is
an
ability
to
communicate
with
all
of
our
service
providers
through
what
we
call
a
directive,
which
is,
you
know,
a
reminder
of
a
section
of
the
standards
and
how
we
expect
that
to
be
operationalized,
and
so
we
can
send
out
a
directive
to
our
respites
and
shelters,
identifying
the
area
and
the
standards
and
our
expectation
that
these
products
be
available
to
people
at
request.
C
Right
and
you
have
some
places
where
they're
they're
going
looking
for
donations
and
then
using
the
money
that
we
have
been,
which
is
you
know,
albeit
not
not
not
an
adequate
amount
in
their
view,
they've
been
using
those
on
other
operating
expenses
and
then
looking
for
donations.
If
we're,
if
we're,
if
222
000
goes
into
the
2022
budget,
is
that
a
is
that
an
adequate
increase?
C
Can
we
be
a
little
more?
Can
we
be
stronger
in
the
wording
of
our
directive
because
we're
increasing
what
what's
the
quantum.
D
D
We
also
have
an
ongoing
that's
the
same
amount,
because
we
were
given
an
increase
in
19
2019,
so
that
increase
is
embedded
into
2020
right,
but
we
are
asking
for
a
one
percent
increase
to
the
overall
funding
to
shelters,
which
is
something
that
we
do
each
year.
D
What
we
hear
from
providers
is
that
it
is
easier
to
fundraise
for
menstrual
products
that
frees
up
additional
program
money
for
other
areas
of
their
program.
That
may
not
be
funded,
so
I
don't.
I
don't
expect
that
there'll
be
fewer
fundraising
efforts
around
this
necessarily,
but
we
are
providing
increased
revenue
to
the
programs.
C
Well,
well,
only
briefly,
I'm
not
going
to
move
any
motions.
I
can
move
the
staff
recommendations
and
I'll
be
following
this
in
budget
and-
and
you
know
reiterating,
if
we're
giving
a
one
percenter
for
information.
B
C
Absolutely
so
I'll
follow
this
in
budget
and
and
and
hopefully
reiterate
publicly
that
if
we're
giving
a
one
percent
increase,
we
hope
it
happens
here.
C
I
remain
concerned,
though,
because
you
know
we
had
a
current
practice
and
yet
we
found
ourselves
every
one
of
us
in
receipt
of
an
activist
campaign
saying
that
it
was
inadequate
and
we're
not
putting
a
lot
of
extra
resources
into
it.
But
I'm
going
to
wait
and
see
what
a
firm
directive
does
in
terms
of
improving
the
practice
across
shelters,
and
hopefully
we
won't
have
people
knocking
on
our
door
this
year.
Thank
you.
B
Okay,
thank
you
very
much.
Councillor
carol.
All
those
in
favor
of
the
item
oppose
that's
carried
well
members.
We
have
concluded
the
business
on
the
agenda
for
today,
I'd
like
to
ask
for
actually
motion
to
endure.
Yes,
all
those
all
those
in
paper.
Thank
you.
