different
areas
that
the

city
looked
after
and

a
friend

mine

me

it
worked
for
years
in
Ottawa

people
are
like

management

and
my
friend
called
me
from
Ottawa.

excited

come

deep
understanding

passed
a
motion
that
clearly
outlined

government
management
committee
would
not
support
the

indexing
of
OMERS
pensions
that
we
wanted
a
comprehensive
public
process
that
we
could
engage
and
give
our
feedback.
The
city
of
Toronto's
OMERS
members
make
up
the
largest
portion
of
the
the
OMERS
contributions.

have

representatives
on
the
board:

think
that

what
we
passed
here,
government
management

was
passed
unanimously.
It

to
Toronto
City
Council,
it
was
passed
there
unanimously
and
I
haven't
seen
much
change
in

consultation
process

that
was
provided

me.

that

the

final
decision
will
be
made
in
November.
We
have
a
city
council.
Our
final
City
Council
meeting

Attorney

the
legislature

Canada

who,

created
a
public
trust
now
known
as
Mount
Pleasant
group
of
cemeteries.
Glen
Tammany
of
Mount
Pleasant
Group
likes
to
characterize
me
as
just
someone
with
a
bad
case
of
sour
grapes
over
a
visitation
center
that
was
built
in
my
neighborhood.

On
the
contrary,
I'm
very
grateful
every
day
for
what
happened,
because
otherwise
I
would
be
unaware
of
the
usurpation
of
the
good
works
of
my
ancestor
and
other
public
advocate's.
Nearly
two
centuries
ago,
Glen
Timoney
trivializes
the
public's
investment
in
the
trust,
because
it's
only
three
hundred
dollars,
the
purchase
price
was
actually
paid
in
pound
sterling
and
the
investment
was
in
six
acres
of
land
at
Yonge
and
Bloor.
The
value
of
the
public's
original
investment
is
incalculable.
The
valuation
I
received
from
impact
seven
years
ago
assess
the
current
Cemetery
properties
at
approximately
two
billion

grandfather

them
immunity
from
all
taxation,

government

MP
GC

tune

millions

dollars.

private

have
been

we
think
they're
properly

don't

all
the
materials

the
litigation.

quite
lengthy.

do
have
their
notice
of
application
and
we
have
the
factum
that
have
been
served
and
filed.
So
this
is
at

the

The
matter
is
scheduled
to
be
heard
in
August
and
the
public
Guardian
and
trustee.

there
representing
the
public
interest
and
they
are
partially
supporting
the
position
advanced
by
the
applicant.

determine

materials
we
have,
the
application
focuses
on
internal
governance
issues
and
that's
where
the
Public
Guardian
trustee
has
actively
participated
in
the
litigation
as
to
whether
it
should
be
determined
that

lands

a
charitable
trust.
The
Mount
Pleasant
groups
position
is
that
it's
a
statutory
trust,
so
there
are
somewhat
complex
issues
based
on
all
provincial
legislation
and
trust
issues,

our
position
is
that
that
those
issues
are
adequately
represented
by
the
Public
Guardian
trustee.

Toronto

reasoning
applies

the

administrative

administrative

of

current
agreement

can
raise
those
costs

consultation
with

Northwest
path.
Extension
alignment
number
four,
as
recommended

a
staff
report,
the
financial
district
BIA
is
critically
invested
in
improving
access
to
our
area
and
supporting
transportation
and
movement
within
the
path
network
is
a
critical
piece
of
pedestrian
infrastructure
in
this
city,
helping
to
reduce
congestion
while
supporting
the
broader
pedestrian
network.

climate
controlled
environment
not
only
provides
relief
from
from
weather
during
our
winters,
but
also
relief
from
heat
wave
temperatures
like
we
saw
this
past
weekend.
The
path
is
the
primary
pedestrian
network,
supporting
Canada's
largest
employment
hub

200,000
workers
and,
as
noted
in
the
teal
core
downtown
secondary
plan
in
the
past
15
years,
the
population
living
within
the
path
has
increased
by
over
250
percent.
As
a
Union
Station
is
the
city's
busiest
transportation
hub
and
sees
greater
and
greater
population

a
significant
economic
driver
and
major
business
attraction
that
differentiates
Toronto
from
other
financial
cores

connecting
more
than

Billings
and

1,100
retail

generates
1.7

The
financial
district
BIA
recognizes
the
importance

economic
importance
and
has
significantly
invested

partnership

the
city

improve
the
pathway
funding
across
the
entire

underneath,

have

smooth
transition
through
the

parking
for
events
can
go

Northwest
Pass

identified

manage

move
ahead
to
get
this
important
connection

additional
review
has
given
us

option
with
improved

retail
opportunities

university
alignment
will
provide
better
animation
of
the
connection,

with
increased
revenue
for
the
city.

to
engage
partners

as
Metro
links
to
create

sharing
that
will
deliver

infrastructure

to
move

issue

up

fair
wage

What

understand
is

that
monies
have
been
withheld
and
have

withheld
since
2014.

four
years.

matters,

one
where
a
lawyer
is
receiving
the
benefit
of
interest
on
these
monies
and
there's
a
recommendation
in
the
report
of
the
manager
for
the
fair
wage
office
that
the
monies
be
released
subject

some
terms

conditions.
So
I'd
like
to
speak
to
the
terms
and
conditions
that
the
recommendations
are
speaking
to
to
provide
an
alternative
for
this,
for
the
possibility
of
this
to
be
resolved
on
it
on
a
full
and
final
basis.
Today,
the
fair
wage
office
has
a
mandate.

It's
understood
as
a
lawyer
as
a
contractor
when
it
makes
a
request
for
Proposal
has
to
confirm
in
part
of
that
contract
that
it
will
comply
with
the
fair
wage
policy
and
over
the
course
of
its
history,
doing
work,
which
is
almost
in
excess
of
20
years
for
the
City
of
Toronto
it
it
hasn't,
had
any
record
of
non-compliance
with
fair
wage
policies.
We
have
no
complaint
from
any
particular
contractor
or
subcontractor
or
individual.
That
says,
a
lawyer
has
failed
to
comply
with
fair
wage.

has
requested
that
these
monies
be
withheld
and
subject

some

so
one
is
an
administrative
penalty.
The
other
is
disqualification
as

contractor,

the
other
is
proof
that
subcontractors
have

paid

what
I
understand
is
if
we
could
deal
with
the
matters
from
the
perspective
of
that
these
monies
have
been
withheld
and
not
available
to
a
family-run
business.

is
a
small,
privately
owned,
family-run
business.

is
a
non-union
business.

is
something
that
has
to
be
considered
in
the
fair
wage
policy
as
well.

considering
what
is
available,
I'm
also
concerned
that
there's
no
interest
that's
accrued
for
the
benefit
of
a
lawyer,
even
though
it
hasn't
had

money
that
is
due
Annoying
to
it
for
work
that
has
actually
been
performed,
that
the
city
has
received
the
benefit
of
and
on
a
quantum
meruit
basis.
A
lawyer
is
owed
a
significant
amount
of
money
that
has
financial
impact.
On
a
lawyer,
while
the
manager's
report
says
it
has
no
financial
impact
on
the
city
whatsoever,
I
think
that
is
an
important
consideration.

between

gap

lawyer
can't
provide
the
further
information,

fair
wage

and

haven't

transportation
divisions,

have
been
in
touch
with
each
other

they've
agreed,

assured

that

undertaking

good

mr.
Ehnle

members

the
government
management

name
is
Theo
Nasri
and
I'm,
a
strategic
planner,
our
honor
council,
fire
native
cultural
center
I'm
here
today
to
make
this
deputation,
not
in
my
capacity
as
a
strategic
planner
but
as
a
resident
of
the
city
for
the
past
20
years
in
1997,
my
family
and
I
got
off
a
plane
at
Pearson
International
and
became
landed
immigrants.
Four
years
later,
we
became
citizens
of
this
great
country.
I
was
born
in
Kabul
Afghanistan
and
left
there
when
I
was
four
years
old.

It
wasn't
until
I
began
working
at
Toronto
Council
for
a
native
cultural
center,
that
my
appreciation
of
the
indigenous
culture
and
history
became
deeper
and
stronger
these
days,
most
of
my
time
is
spent
working
on
the
ioss
legacy
project.
With
this
amazing
team
here,
the
project
can
be
divided
up
in
two
parts.
First
and
foremost,
the
RSS
luggage
Legacy
Project,
is
about
developing
the
space
that
you've
seen
in
the
video.

Secondly,
the
project
also
includes
the
RSS
legacy
celebration,
which
is
a
tremendous,
significant
cultural
gathering
that
will
bring
together
over
100
people
for
three
days
of
celebrations,
entertainment
and
ceremonies,
so,
first
and
foremost
to
honor
residential
school
survivors
and
also
to
celebrate
indigenous
cultural
resiliency.
There
are
three
reasons
that
the
government
management
committee
should
support
this
project.
First,
creating
the
space
is
an
opportunity
for
the
City
of
Toronto
to
become
a
leader
and
champion
of
reconciliation
and
restitution.
At
a
time
when
our
shared
values
are
under
scrutiny.

This
project
provides
the
City
of
Toronto
with
an
opportunity
to
become
a
champion
an
example
for
the
rest
of
the
country.
This
nineteen
thousand
two
hundred
square
feet
of
space
might
be
small,
but
but
it's
a
perfect
way
for
the
city
to
renew
its
relationship
with
the
first
peoples
of
this
land.
It's
one
thing
to
do
a
land
acknowledgement,
as
we
appreciate
that
was
done
here
this
morning,
but
it's
another
thing
to
make
a
serious
investment
in
the
indigenous
community.

Secondly,
as
a
non-indigenous
person
living
in
this
great
city,
I
ask
to
all
of
you
where,
where
is
the
indigenous
areas
of
the
City
of
Toronto?
While
the
city
bears
the
name
of
Toronto,
which
it
comes
from
the
Mohawk
language,
the
city
has
largely
displaced
indigenous
identity.
The
development
of
this
space
is
a
step
towards
restitution
and,
if
I
can
speak
for
the
diversity
of
the
city,
I
can
tell
you
that
newcomers
and
immigrants
like
myself,
want
to
see
nothing
more
about
the
creation
of
this
space.

Lastly,
last
but
not
least,
this
space
will
give
the
city
a
stronger
sense
of
identity.
In
my
opinion,
we
have
called
the
project,
the
restoration
of
identity
and,
in
a
way,
it's
an
it's
an
opportunity
for
the
City
of
Toronto
to
restore
its
own
identity
and
celebrate
indigenous
culture,
which
has
been
such
a
long,
which
has
had
such
a
strong
influence
on
the
city.

for
the
October
9
to
11
event,
I
brought
along
Emma
Stewart
who's,
the
city
staff
working
on
the
event.
As
Theo
mentioned,
there's
tens
of
thousands
of
people
anticipated
local
partners
like
the
Sheraton
are
engaged.
Funding
has
been
assembled
by
council
fire
and
the
city
has
provided
a
seed
commitment
of
30,000
through
an
indigenous
program,
and
this
report
speaks
to
an
additional
250
from
the
major,
significant
event
reserve
fund
to
enable
success
of
the
event.

serve
to
reinforce

importance

the

ensure
that
every
capital
city
has
some
kind
of
large.
Prominent
reconciliation
was
an
excellent
one,
and
if
this
can
be
our
contribution
to.

process

reconciliation

think
the
city
has
no
choice
but
to
go
ahead
with
it.

think
we
must,
as
the
largest
city
in
Canada,
do
something
that
is
important
and
significant

I
think
this
will
be.

project

thus

committed
by

was

contributed

hopeful

surpass
the

addition

we're
out

corporations

as
Hydra
one
and
they've,
made
a
commitment
of
three
hundred
thousand

for
this
event,
but
also
150
for
the
for
the
venture
itself.

borrow

concept,

they
have
to
pay
for
it,
and
so
it's

think
it's
really
important
that
we
want
them

be
a
part

our
residential
school
system
and
the
horror
and
the
the
trial
and
tribulations
the
children
went
through
being
pulled
apart
from
their
families.

recognized

to

for

the

our
Legacy
