From YouTube: Contour Community Meeting - June 9, 2020
Description
June 9, 2020
What have we been working on?
[m2] We are planning to completely remove IngressRoute from Contour 1.6. Voice your concerns now :)
ir2proxy is available for your conversion needs. Please log issues if you find them.
ir2proxy v1.1 was recently released with TCP Proxy support.
Removing the IngressRoute code will allow us to make updates to the general CRD handling code without needing to support two code paths.
Roadmap update
[stevesloka] Security releases of Envoy 1.12.4, 1.13.2 and 1.14.2 are now available
A
B
B
Yeah,
it's
better
to
say
we
deprecated
it
I
just
go
now
all
right,
yeah,
yes,
sir
good
good
call,
Nick
so
say:
I
would,
along
with
the
changes
to
HTTP
proxy,
and
now
we're
gonna
completely
remove
it.
So
normally
you
won't
be
able
to
get
support
calls
for
it,
but
if
you
upgrade,
you
need
to
change
or
your
llamo
and
part
specifications.
Otherwise
things
would
just
not
work.
We
know
that
some
of
our
users
and
community
is
still
using
ingress
route
and
have
been
slowly
updating
to
HTTP
proxy.
B
But
our
goal
is,
you
know,
make
the
changes
now,
if
you
need
help
or
if
you
have
any
concerns,
voice
them
now
and
be
loud.
Otherwise
we're
going
to
continue
down
this
call
of
complete
removal
ir
to
proxy
the
work
that
happened
that
james
kind
of
drove
a
few
months
ago.
It's
available,
you
can
use
it
to
convert
your
increase
resources
and
if
you
have
any
issues,
obviously
please
log
them
any
questions
or
concerns
of
this
and
I
was
gonna,
say
the
next
thing.
C
To
things
yes
and
the
reason
why
we're
doing
this
is
just
to
let
us
move
a
move
faster
on
the
HTTP
proxy
Co
decode,
without
needing
to
keep
the
English
route
code
in
sync,
it's
a
bit
tricky
at
the
moment,
stuff,
there's
stuff
that
I
want
to
do
too
HTTP
proxy
that
I
can't
yet
without
leaving
a
lot
of
legacy
stuff
there
so
yeah.
Unless
anyone
has
objections,
then
I'm
actually
going
to
pay.
C
Are
they
seen
in
the
next
week
or
two
to
remove,
remove
the
IR,
the
English
our
code
from
contour
in
master,
so
that
then
I?
Can
that
will
then
unblock
me
to
just
more
work
on
the
HTTP
proxy
code?
So
yeah?
If
you
have,
if
you
have
reasons
for
me,
not
to
do
that,
then
yeah,
you
need
to
speak
up
so
now,
all.
B
B
Kind
of
pretty
display
this
so
we've
kind
of
updated
the
the
roadmap
to
them,
D
under
the
community,
repo
for
contour
to
add
a
little
bit
more
clarity
in
terms
or
how
you
add
items
to
the
roadmap
and
what
does
the
current
roadmap
mean
and
I
want
everybody
kind
of
take
this
with
a
grain
of
salt.
This
is
this
is
an
indication
of
us
of
where
we
want
to
take
control
from
a
community
standpoint.
This
is
where
we
want
to
make
some
investments.
These
investments
are
driven
based
on
requirements
of
the
health.
B
So
think
of
this
as
a
blueprint
for
how
the
team
is
gonna
operate
for
the
next
nine
months
or
so,
and
it
gives
you
visibility
gives
you
clarity
of
execution,
but
it
is
not
a
commitment,
so
our
priorities
and
these
requirements
could
change
base
and
community
feedback,
roadblocks
or
other
things
are
coming
up
or
we
could
actually
come
in
and
get
a
huge
community
contribution
to
something
earlier,
because
it
was
more
important
at
that
point
in
time.
But
if
you
have
any
feedback
on
this
roadmap
or
you
wanna
add
items
to
it.
B
A
B
Try
not
to
tie
these
things
to
any
specific
ticket,
some
of
them
to
have
a
ticket,
but
these
are
like
high
levels
of
people
can
understand
that
were
adding
and
sudden
improvement
in
a
specific
area.
We
are
really
getting
to
the
nitty-gritty
details
because
things
could
change,
but
each
one
of
these
items
has
a
ticket
in
our
backlog
and
and
github
projects.
That's
linked
earlier
in
this
document.
It's
like
I
think
it's
like
you
only
seen
that,
if
not,
but
if
you
saw
the
full
document,
has
it
up
at
the
top.
A
A
B
D
B
So
we've
heard
from
multiple
users,
including
all
of
the
engagement
we
do,
the
key
Native
community,
the
the
one
did
the
better
way
to
request
resources
in
contour,
where
it's
not.
This
delegation
model
that
you
have.
They
wanted
to
be
able
to
get
some
of
the
stuff
done
in
a
self-service
way,
and
we
haven't
really
dug
into
that
to
see
what
it
means
and
how
we
can
produce
that
that
that
that
type
of
engagement
model,
but
we've
heard
it
enough
times
that
is
worthwhile
to
put
it
on
the
roadmaps.
B
B
E
B
You
don't
have
it
like.
I
can
really
answer
it
anyway,
whether
because
there's
a
lot
of
things
are
still
a
little
bit
unknown,
but
and
that's
why
this
is
also
all
the
way
to
the
far
end
of
the
roadmap.
I
give
us
enough
time
to
start
collecting
the
feedback
and
see
if,
if
this
is
a
use
case,
that
that
kind
of
meets
the
bar
across
the
board
with
the
rest
of
our
community.
But
I've
heard
it
from
folks.
B
D
D
B
So
the
this
issue-
2150
one
that
I
linked,
is
really
where
it
came
down
to,
and
essentially
what
happened
is
the
crux
of
the
issue
is
that
when
they're
upgrading
from
version
one
to
version
two
of
the
services,
they
are
encountering
some
outages
because
of
how
contour
an
employee
adapted
it's
not
an
atomic
operation
and
they
end
up
getting
issues
with
a
connectivity.
So
as
part
of
that
transition-
and
the
requirement
was
some-
you
know,
one
of
the
things
that
we
talked
about
was
kind
of
change.
B
How
contour
operates
here
to
be
a
little
bit
more
of
a
self-service
way,
so
they
have
complete
control
over
that
transition
between
the
services
and
I
want
to
put
it
in
him,
like
I,
want
to
put
any
more
credit
to
this,
because
Ram
had
the
time
to
dig
into
this.
This
is
a
very
expensive
work
at
them
to
do
any
change
in
just
how
contour
works
with
HTTP
proxy
changes
a
design.
B
C
C
A
lot
of
the
designer
has
to
be
proxy
is
about
you,
giving
the
cluster
administrator
sort
of
control
rights
over
things
and
requiring
the
cost
or
administrator
to
do
things
in
order
to
for
concrete
to
make
it
intercom
to
Dion
voice
at
the
end
of
the
day,
and
one
of
the
things
that
people
have
asked
for
is
that
people
want
some
people.
Some
users
want
more
magic,
behavior
like
ingress
stuff.
It
does
where
you
can
say,
create
multiple.
C
C
B
C
Yes,
I
the
I-pro
I
won't
do
anything
about
this
until
you've
heard
from
someone
who
would
know
is
thinking
is
actually
using
this
for
real
but
I'm,
pretty
sure
that
he
has
already
started
using
our
to
proxy.
The
other
thing
that
I
didn't
that
we
didn't
mention
there
was
that
I
believe
I
had
to
proxy
with
this
TCP
property
support
and
now
covers
pretty
much
everything
from
English
route.
C
If
anybody
does
use
it
and
find
something
missing,
like
I
said,
please
log
issues,
you
know
to
add
support
for
anything
and
we'll
get
onto
that
as
soon
as
we
can,
so
that
the
tool
is
able
to
actually
help
people
with
all
of
the
English
rap
migration
days.
Sorry
start
Steve,
I
think
we're.
The
next
thing
is
now
is
thing.
E
C
E
No
worries
so
this
came
out
last
night,
so
if
we
click
that
link
Jonas,
there's
there's
some
new
CVEs
that
were
discovered
in
envoy,
so
here's
the
the
announcement
from
the
Envoy
team,
so
they've
released,
actually,
which
is
nice,
backboard
versions,
14,
13
and
12
as
well.
So
if,
if
you're
running,
you
know
contour
1.5,
which
is
using
envoy
1
dot
14.1,
you
can
just
upgrade
envoy
to
1.14
dot
2,
and
then
this
will
go
away.
E
I'm
sure
we'll
probably
kick
a
new
release
of
contour
to
include
this
as
the
default
for
the
quick
start
and
stuff.
But
for
now,
if
you
want
to,
you
know
mitigate
this
problem
right
now,
you
can
just
upgrade
to
the
one
to
14.2
envoy
image
and
be
on
your
way.
So
I
just
want
to
make
sure
everyone
knew
this.
This
came
out
and
they
had
the
head
visibility
into
it.
