Before

I
would
like

present
who
have
lived
on
these
lands
since
long
before
eagle
river
was
here.
May
we
all
be
good
stewards
of
these
lands?
Chanan?
C
Thank
you.

This
ceremony
is
about
each
individual
graduate,
so
let's
get
started
so
we
can
honor
and
celebrate
your
long-anticipated
accomplishments.
This
evening.
One
of
my
many
honors
is
in
to
introduce
our
speakers,
and
this
first
speaker
of
today's
ceremony
is
our
class
val
victorian,
who
is
one
of
the
most
genuine,
hardworking
and
ambitious
people
I've
met.
She
has
a
4.33
gpa,
but
she
is
involved
in
so
much
more.
In
the
past
four
years
she
has
been
the
first
chair,
violinist
a
respected
member
of
ddf,
an
advent
reader
and
a
kind
soul.
E
E
That
year
I
spent
many
recesses
inside
working
with
my
teacher
trying
somehow
to
close
my
a's
correctly
in
the
grand
scheme
of
things.
It's
not
that
important.
Obviously
I
didn't
fail
first
grade
or
any
of
the
grades
after
that,
but
when
I
found
out
I
was
valedictorian.
My
first
grade
teacher
was
the
first
person
I
thought
of.
She
certainly
wouldn't
have
thought
I'd,
be
here
and
truth
be
told.
Neither
would
I
the
point
is
once
I
realized
I
was
going
to
have
to
make
this
speech.
E
E
E
I
could
follow
in
the
grand
tradition
of
valedictorians
everywhere
and
leave
you
with
a
pretentious
and
vaguely
relevant
quote,
but
all
of
my
favorites
were
shot
down
pretty
quickly,
so
instead,
I'm
coming
back
to
the
just
18
part.
If
the
confused
ramblings
about
wisdom
and
algebra
didn't
clue,
you
in,
I
don't
really
know
what
I'm
doing.
But
if
I
had
to
take
a
guess,
I'd
say
that
99
of
the
other
students
about
to
graduate
don't
either
and
the
same
probably
goes
for
the
teachers
and
relatives
too
for
all
the
platitudes.
E
Now
I
could
bring
up
the
lessons.
Humanity
has
learned
in
a
million
different
near
extinctions
and
not
quite
wars
and
almost
nuclear
winters,
but
if
the
last
few
years
have
taught
us
anything,
it's
that
we're
capable
of
facing
incredible
difficulties
and
coming
out
on
top
it's
a
skill,
that's
uniquely
humane
and
it's
a
skill
that
we're
going
to
need.
E
E
E
C
Thank
you,
catherine.
Our
next
speaker
this
evening
is
faculty
and
staff
member
security
officer,
mr
brian
kane,
mr
kane,
has
worked
at
eagle
river
high
school
since
our
school
opened
its
doors
in
2005..
He
is
one
of
one
of
the
most
hospitable
funny
and
friendly
fac
staff
members
at
eagle
river.
Please
welcome
mr
brian
hurricane
to
the
stage.
F
F
F
F
F
F
F
I
grew
up
at
my
dad's
gas
station
in
maine.
Oh
sorry,
wrong
speech.
That
was
mr
lewis.
I
grew
up
at
mile
five
eagle
river
road.
I
grew
up
before
the
internet
for
some
people
that's
probably
hard
to
understand,
but
for
me
that's
how
life
was
back
in
those
days
the
glen
highway
was
a
two-lane
road
eagle.
River
road
was
a
dirt
road
that
dead
ended
at
a
bar
called
paradise
haven.
Most
of
you
know
it
by
its
new
name
and
that's
the
eagle
river
nature
center.
That's
right!
That's
what
it
used
to
be.
F
Telephones
were
party
lines.
You
can
ask
your
grandparents
how
that
worked.
Work
was
not
a
coffee
shop
to
be
found
in
eagle
river,
but
we
did
have
a
mexican
food.
Restaurant
tv
went
off
at
10
o'clock
every
night,
not
because
my
parents
wanted
it
to
be
shut
off,
but
that's
the
time
the
programming
stopped
airing.
F
We
didn't
need
a
remote
because
there
was
only
one
channel,
so
I
grew
up
in
a
time
where
you
really
had
to
make
some
plans
and
you
had
to
prepare
for
whatever
was
your
next
step
in
your
life?
It
could
be
for
that
day
could
be
for
that
afternoon
or
could
be
for
the
week,
but
you
had
to
make
a
lot
of
plans.
F
F
My
dad
used
to
always
put
these
things
in
his
58
chevy
station
wagon,
wherever
he
went,
and
he
would
always
come
back
and
put
everything
away
and
one
day
I
finally
asked
him.
I
said
dad:
why
do
you
always
take
a
six
pack
of
beer
with
you
and
he
said
well
what?
If
my
car
breaks
down
or
if
I
get
a
flat
tire
or
if
I
want
to
go
fishing,
I
want
to
be
prepared
to
enjoy
the
time
that
I'm
there
well,
his
vehicle
never
broke
down.
F
F
I
also
discovered
how
I
had
to
pay
for
things
on
my
own.
Things
are
very
expensive.
My
hunting
partner
and
I
we
used
to
always
talk
about
the
gear
that
we
couldn't
afford.
Rain
gear
was
one
of
those
things
and
whether
in
alaska,
if
you're,
hunting,
hiking
or
fishing,
you
need
rain
gear.
It's
a
necessity.
F
We
used
to
talk
about
the
cost
of
gear.
Well,
before
the
internet
we
had
to
use
catalogs
and
magazines
go
to
outdoor
shows.
If
you
got
a
pamphlet,
you
would
read
it
front
to
back,
so
you
can
always
understand
all
the
information
well
before
one
big
trip,
my
hunting
partner
and
I
we
ended
up
buying
two
different
brands
of
rain
gear.
I
think
between
us.
We
spent
about
50
each
on
a
set
of
rain
gear.
F
Well,
we
got
ready
to
go
on
a
big
trip
out
in
prince
william
sound,
and
everybody
knows
how
that
weather
is
in
prince,
william
sound.
We
were
ready
for
it.
We
had
the
best
rain
gear.
We
could
afford
well
10
days
in
prince,
william
sound,
never
saw
a
cloud
just
the
blue
sky,
as
you
could
ever
imagine
it
never
rained.
We
were
prepared,
though,
to
this
day
we
will
always
laugh
about
bring
the
best
rain
gear
you
can
afford
and
it
won't
rain.
F
I
watch
other
people
how
they
prepare
for
certain
things
in
life,
an
example
that
I'd
give
would
be
my
nephew
he's
a
fireman
here
in
the
anchorage
fire
department.
He
came
to
a
party.
I
can't
remember.
It
was
a
birthday
party,
a
christmas
dinner.
Whatever
it
was
my
nephew,
he
showed
up
with
a
brown
paper
bag.
F
F
Well,
at
the
end
of
the
meal,
when
everybody
was
getting
ready
to
go,
my
nephew
got
up
grabbed.
His
bag
walked
into
the
kitchen
and
he
showed
grandma
that
his
bag
was
full
of
empty
tupperware
trump
grandma
made
sure
that
his
tupperware
was
full
when
he
went
home,
so
he
was
prepared
for
that,
and
I
learned
from
him
to
always
have
some
tupperware
tupperware
is
very
important,
so
life
has
ups
and
downs.
You
can
be
prepared
for
some
things
and
not
necessarily
need
it,
but
you're
prepared,
learn
from
others.
F
I
always
have
I
learn
every
day.
I
learn
from
my
nephew
to
bring
some
tupperware
from
my
dad.
I
learned
to
always
have
a
pair
of
gloves
a
hat
and
a
spare
coat
even
in
the
summer
be
prepared,
be
ready
and
never
forget
where
you
came
from.
Never
forget
the
people
or
place
that
helped
shape
you
and
take
the
time
make
the
seconds
you
spend
with
people
count,
even
if
it's
only
12
seconds
eager
river
alaska
is
a
wonderful
place
to
be
from
stay
in
touch.
C
Thank
you
very
much,
mr
kane.
We
have
one
final
speaker
tonight,
our
student
elected
speaker,
mr
avery
cobwell.
You
might
better
know
him
as
a
member
of
our
wonderful
and
talented
jazz
band
and
an
amazing
trumpet
player
and,
most
recently
our
2022
prom
king.
Please
join
me
in
the
welcoming
the
one
and
only
every.
G
It's
a
book
good
evening,
eagle
river
high
school.
It
is
I
prom
king
avery,
caldwell
and
all
right
first
things.
First,
I've
always
wanted
to
experience
this,
I'm
going
to
count
down
from
three
and
I
want
everyone,
all
teachers,
all
audience,
members,
all
all
you
students
to
boo
me
as
loud
as
you
can
just
boo,
just
rap
okay,
three
two.
A
G
Wow,
okay,
excellent.
Thank
you
for
letting
me
experience
that
and
now
that
you've
gotten
that
out
of
the
way
I
there
better
not
be
any
booing
for
the
rest
of
this
all
right.
G
So
graduation
is
an
extremely
special
occasion
and
there
are
only
two
students
who
get
the
privilege
to
speak
at
the
ceremony.
One
of
them
has
to
sacrifice
a
lot
of
time
and
put
in
a
lot
of
effort
to
make
sure
that
they
are
on
top
of
every
single
academic
aspect.
Throughout
their
high
school
career.
They
often
take
multiple
ap
classes
and
then
actually
perform
well
on
the
exams,
and
then
they
earn
the
title
of
valedictorian
and
they
get
10
minutes
up
on
this
microphone
and
then
there's
me
yep.
G
I
just
got
the
popular
vote
and
I
get
to
do
the
same
thing
as
the
valedictorian
does
me,
with
my
historically
below
average
gpa
and
attendance
record,
but
anyways
yeah.
So
I'm
up
here
to
talk
to
you
about
kind
of
whatever
I
want,
and
I
don't
really
like
student
graduation
speeches
they're
hard
to
get
the
balance
of
funny
and
earnest
without
sounding
preachy
or
condescending.
Just
because
I'm
up
here
doesn't
mean,
I
know
any
more
than
you
and
I'm
not
here,
to
give
you
life
advice
honestly.
G
I
have
no
idea
what
most
of
your
lives
are
like.
None
of
us
have
had
the
same
experiences
oftentimes.
The
only
person's
experience
we
truly
understand
and
appreciate
are
our
own,
because
experiences
are
different
and
embarrassing
and
tailored
to
each
of
us
individually,
and
not
a
lot
of
people
want
to
share
their
full
experience
in
a
stadium
full
of
random
strangers.
That's
where
I
come
in.
G
I've
had
a
lot
of
time
to
think
about
the
person
who
I
am,
and
it's
come
to
my
realization
that
I
am
everyone.
I've
ever
met.
Every
person
I've
met,
has
taught
or
shown
me
something
new
like
you,
I'm
a
product
of
the
school
and
its
community
without
the
amazing
staff
and
the
people
in
it.
We
wouldn't
be
here
today,
and
I
know
I
wouldn't
be
here
if
it
weren't
for
some
of
the
teachers
that
I've
been
able
to
open
up
and
talk
to
about
whatever
I
want
or
need.
G
It
really
is
the
people
around
us
that
make
us
who
we
are,
and
it's
thanks
to
their
efforts
that
we
are,
who
we
are
most
of
us
know
that
music
plays
a
big
big
part
in
my
life.
So
obviously
some
of
my
experiences
begin
with
musicians.
People
like
mr
lubkin,
my
middle
school
band
teacher.
He
taught
me
how
to
appreciate
music
and
showed
me
how
passionate
someone
can
be
about
any
art
form.
He
taught
me
how
to
appreciate
music
and
showed
me
my
bed.
G
He
taught
me
how
to
appreciate
music
and
showed
me
how
passionate
someone
can
be
about
any
art
form
at
the
time.
I
didn't
even
know
what
I
was
being
taught.
I'm
sure
lubkin
didn't
know
that
he
was
teaching
someone
to
the
extent
that
he
was,
but
when
he
called
the
jazz
band
together
to
gather
around
his
macbook
and
played
some
weird
song
from
the
60s.
G
G
Likewise,
mr
pierce,
my
former
high
school
band
director,
would
sit
in
his
sit
with
his
coffee
in
one
hand
and
his
trumpet
in
the
other,
and
would
start
going
on
rants
about
one
song
and
how
it
relates
to
a
different
song
and
the
artist
that
wrote
the
songs
and
when
he
last,
when
he
left
last
year,
he
left
a
small
piece
of
himself
with
me.
Through
all
of
those
conversations
he
saw
the
flame
of
passion
I
had
and
he
added
a
log
or
two.
G
My
band
teacher
talks
about
how
she
teaches
and
spent
time
on
an
island
in
the
illusions
and
had
her
own
radio
station
called
magnum
music,
which
is
awesome.
She
talks
about
how
she
conducts
in
the
way
she
teaches
the
band
and
in
that
she's,
giving
a
piece
of
her
own
experience
to
me
whenever
I'm
listening
to
music-
and
I
start
miming
conducting
that's
thanks
to
her,
but
it's
not
just
music
teachers
that
have
had
an
impact.
It's
all
teachers,
eric
johnson.
G
My
english
teacher
will
go
on
tangent
after
tangent,
about
after
tangent
about
his
hippie
ways
and
how
society
has
changed
and
how
one
time
he
brought
in
tree
tree
sap
he
harvested
and
shared
it
with
the
class
and
in
that
he
added
more
and
more
logs
onto
the
fire.
And
now
not
only
do.
I
have
a
better
understanding
and
appreciation
of
these
things,
but
I
understand
how
they
can
affect
people
and
that's
something
that
I
can't
get
out
of
a
textbook
with
all
that
said,
it's
not
like
all
high
school
went
without
hardship.
G
We've
all
experienced
that
in
some
way
and
how
we
face
that
hardship
and
who
we've
learned
on
to
and
who
we've
leaned
on
to
get
over
hardship
has
helped
us
grow.
When
I
was
a
ninth
grader,
I
got
into
my
first
ever
relationship
and
it
was
an
experience
greater
than
I
ever
imagined.
I
mean
my
heart
felt
was
my
heart
felt
like
it
was
bursting
at
the
seams
because
I'd
never
been
so
driven
to
do
things
for
people
or
make
people
happy
or
loved.
I
love.
G
You
was
afraid
that
phrase
that
was
previously
reserved
only
for
family
members
on
and
relatives
on
christmas
and
maybe
easter.
If
I
was
feeling
gracious,
but
now
it
became
commonplace
in
my
life
and
it
wasn't
just
for
my
relationship.
It
was
for
anybody.
I
just
wanted
to
make
other
people.
I
knew
happy.
Sometimes
I'd
stop
by
a
friend's
house,
just
to
say
hi
maybe
buy
them
a
snack
just
because
I
knew
they'd
like
it.
My
passion
for
others
was
brighter
than
ever
ever
and
then
one
day
things
changed.
G
Some
of
you
know
where
this
is
going.
She
left
something
at
my
house
and
I
swung
by
her
house
to
drop
it
off
and
I
pulled
up
into
her
house
and
there
was
an
unfamiliar
car
in
the
driveway
and
then
she
came
out
and
so
did
someone
else.
You
put
the
pieces
together
and
in
that
moment
I
learned
about
pain,
gut
wrenching,
soul-crushing,
head-spinning
pain,
everything
I
thought
I'd
built
and
worked
on
over
the
years
was
gone.
I
didn't
sleep
right
for
weeks
and
my
flame
was
snuffed
out
everywhere
I
went.
G
I
was
reminded
of
happier
times
every
song
heard
reminded
me
of
a
friend
who
hadn't
talked
to
me
in
weeks.
I
just
couldn't
escape
because
every
activity
I
once
enjoyed
was
covered
in
this
painful
residue
I
couldn't
wash
off.
I
was
broken
and
shattered
and
empty
for
the
first
time
in
my
life,
and
there
was
no
music
to
be
heard,
and
I
learned
the
most
valuable
lesson
of
all
life
isn't
fair.
There
are
no
safeguards
or
backups
life
isn't
going
to
give
you
a
blanket
life.
G
G
If
my
friend,
walter
sorrell
didn't
take
it
upon
himself
to
reach
out,
and
let
people
know
that
I
was
in
a
dark
place-
I
wouldn't
be
here
today.
I
mean
it
he's
the
hero
of
this
story,
some
kid
who,
you
probably
don't
know
who
goes
to
a
school
in
texas,
but
in
my
depression
I
got
a
text
from
walter.
That
was
a
simple,
hey
man.
How
are
you
doing
I'm
all
right?
I
wasn't
all
right
come
on
man,
you've
been
real
quiet
lately.
How
was
the
holidays.
G
G
Caring
means
you
take
matters
into
your
own
hands
and
we
are
all
players
in
this
cosmic
game
and
sure
the
rules
might
not
be
fair,
but
that's
something
we
just
have
to
accept
and
in
turn
we
have
to
be
there
for
each
other.
The
reason
we
are
here
today
is
because
of
the
people
who
cared
enough
to
give
us
a
part
of
their
flame
and
to
teach
us
the
lessons
that
they've
learned
and
to
share
their
viewpoints
that
they
have
all
of
the
people
who
care
have
re-lit
the
flame
in
my
par
in
my
heart.
G
G
Well,
he
would
sit
down
at
a
piano
and
just
start
making
stuff
up
on
the
spot
and
he
would
geek
out
about
how
cool
it
sounds
and
in
that
he
was
sharing
his
flames
with
me,
and
he
helped
my
passion
grow.
A
good
chunk
of
my
musical
knowledge
comes
from
him
too,
and
whenever
I
use
any
of
that
knowledge,
whenever
I
sit
down
a
piano
and
start
chunking
out
chords
for
fun,
that's
because
he
cared
enough
to
share
it
with
me.
G
Ethan
zawadney,
one
of
my
closest
friends,
we'll
spend
we'll
spend
hours
talking
about
the
intricacies
of
drum
heads
and
the
materials
drums
are
made
of
and,
however,
great
the
new,
whatever
song
is,
and
how
the
different
jazz
artists
sound
and
during
that
we
open
ourselves
up
to
each
other
and
our
flames
feed
on
each
other
and
I've
never
had
a
better
connection
with
a
musician
and
now
just
the
way.
I
appreciate
music
is
different
from
if
I'd
never
known
him.
G
That
means
we
don't
accept
who
we
are,
but
we
should
look
back
with
bright
eyes
and
see
all
of
the
moments
where
we
learned
and
lived
all
of
the
moments
where
people
cared
all
of
these
moments
of
old
friends
and
exes
and
teachers
are
important
because
it
means
that
we
knew
someone
great
enough
to
have
these
impacts
on
our
life.
They
might
not
be
around
us
now,
but
the
lessons
they
taught
will
be
with
us
forever.
G
We
should
never
be
ashamed
of
that
because
they
represent
the
places
we
learned
and
grew,
and
we
should
never
regret
who
what
made
us
who
we
are
and
who
we
will
be,
and
I
know
I
certainly
don't.
I
am
avery
caldwell.
I
have
the
passion
for
music
of
my
band
directors.
I
have
the
love
of
the
outdoors
and
philosophy
of
johnson
love.
You
big
jay
and
I
have
the
humor
of
all
friends
I've
ever
had.
I
have
the
dedication
of
my
parents.
I
have
the
confidence
in
public
of
the
performers.
G
I've
met
over
the
years
and
I
and
I
have
the
moves
like
jagger.
I
sorry.
Why
did
I
write
that
in
there
that's
horrible,
I'm
sorry
and
most
importantly,
I
have
the
regrets
of
no
one.
I
have
no
regrets.
Okay,
actually,
I
have
one
regret
and
it's
not
telling
the
people
who
helped
me
become,
who
I
am
that
they
did
so
everybody
I
listed
previously.
You
helped
me
become.
Who
I
did
is
that
clear,
good,
good,
okay
cool?
Now
I
have
zero
regrets
and
also
I
am
running
out
of
time.
G
So
for
those
of
you
who
zoned
out
I'll
sum
it
up
without
the
people
around
you,
you
wouldn't
be
here.
That's
that's
that
and
without
you,
the
people
around
you
wouldn't
be
who
they
are.
Every
person
we've
met
has
taught
us
something
through
good
or
through
bad
for
better
for
worse
aware
of
it
or
not,
and
it's
because
of
all
of
them
that
we
are
who
we
are.
We
are
everybody
who
has
cared
about
us.
We
are
everybody
who
we
care
about.
We
are
eagle
river,
high,
school's,
graduating
class
of
2022..

J
J
As
my
first
official
duty
as
principal
of
yogurt
high
school,
I
gave
the
spirit
skit
stick
to
your
class
as
freshman
yeah.
There
was
a
lot
of
booze
that
day
and
that's
where
I
go
next
too
many
to
no
surprise.
I've
received
many
booze
and
based
on
that
decision-
and
I
was
also
concerned
about
my
safety
and
well-being
on
that
day,
and
at
that
moment
I
knew
this
class
was
going
to
be
special.
J
I
would
also
have
some
great
material
for
my
speech
four
years
from
now,
then
to
bring
it
full
circle.
You
finished
your
senior
year
at
wacko
with
the
presentation
of
the
spirit
to
stick
one
more
time
over
the
course
of
four
years.
We
shared
local
and
world
experiences
that
have
changed.
How
we
view
normal.
J
With
these
challenges,
this
class
still
managed
to
make
the
best
of
every
opportunity
given
without
going
into
detail
for
fear
of
forgetting
someone
a
lack
of
time.
I
will
say
that
this
class
of
2022
has
achieved
numerous
awards
locally
and
nationally
in
athletics,
academics
and
the
fine
arts
as
your
principal.
I
would
like
to
thank
you
for
making
me
and
our
community
proud.
J
J
I'm
glad
I
got
a
few
chuckles
on
that
one
how's
it
work,
so
it
is
up
to
you
to
obtain
goals
and
to
set
or
I'm
sorry,
it
is
up
to
you
to
obtain
your
goals
and
to
set
and
make
change
happen.
I
ask
you
when
faced
with
challenging
times,
think
about
that
t-shirt.
No
one
cares
work
harder.
You
always
have
the
support
of
your
friends
and
family,
but
it
comes
down
to
it.
It
is
you
and
you
only
who
can
make
change
happen
so
with
that,
let's
get
ready
to
walk
and
complete
this
journey.
J
J
B
B
You've
had
all
three,
but
no
one
in
my
years
here,
I've
been
a
superintendent
for
10
years
has
ever
had
a.
I
don't
know
a
boy
group
like
as
cool
as
that.
I
just
want
to
know
if
they
dance
as
well
like
I
am
so
impressed
they
do
that's
the
next
chapter,
so
I'm
retiring
as
well.
It's
been
32
years
of
education.
I've
loved
it,
but
I'm
telling
you
you
guys
you
were
awesome
and
I've
gone
to
hundreds
of
graduations.

Before
we
conclude
our
ceremony,
just
a
note
to
our
audience.
First,
thank
you
for
all
attending
the
eagle
river
high
school
class
of
2022,
graduation
ceremony,
parents
and
family
members.
Please
do
not
come
down
onto
the
floor
once
the
ceremony
is
over.
Your
graduates
can
be
met
outside
of
the
arena
for
celebrations
and
photos
seniors
after
the
tassel
turn.
Please
celebrate
with
your
neighbor,
but
please
stay
in
your
seat.
Graduation
assistance
will
lead
our
recessional
and
escort
you
out
of
the
arena
now
time
for
tassels.
I
C
We've
all
waited
for
this
day,
we've
counted
out
the
months
days
and
seconds,
and
now
that
is
here,
I
feel
a
bit
sad
because
it
means
leaving
behind
teachers
who
inspire
me
friends
who
encourage
me,
and
so
many
people
who
have
shaped
our
lives
with
all
this
being
said
graduates.
I
hope
that
someday
when
you
are
following
your
many
dreams
in
life,
you
will
be
able
to
think
back
on
your
time
at
eagle,
river,
high
school
and
smile
when
reminiscing
on
all
the
countless
memories
you
made
here.
C
I
would
like
to
thank
you
for
letting
me
serve
as
your
class
president.
I'm
truly
grateful
to
have
been
involved
with
a
school
that
has
always
encouraged
me
to
work
hard
now.
Will
the
senior
class
officers
please
join
me
at
the
podium
to
lead
the
turning
of
our
tassels
and
will
the
senior
class
of
2022.
Please
stand.
C
Seniors,
please
grab
your
tassels
to
signify
or
transition
from
students
to
graduates
after
you
have
tossed
your
caps.
Please
remember
to
take
your
seats
one
last
time
until
it's
your
turn
to
join
the
recessional
and
leave
the
floor
seniors.
Are
you
ready?
Please
grab
your
tassel
on
the
right
side
and
on
the
count
of
three
we'll
move
it
to
the
left
side
together.
